  1. Exactly.......... You are absolutely correct.....sort of. You are governemnt property while serving in the Armed Forces, but they can not tell you what ever they want. They received a court martial for being negligent and damaging government property probably to the point where they weren't mission ready. Happens all the time. I had a buddy at Ft. Hood that got a counseling statement because he let his wife cut his hair and she kinda screwed it up.
  2. Started out at C1 for about 1 1/2 years then moved to JBB for 2 1/2. Now I'm at T1.
  3. I spoke with one of the Locals that works here on base today, as he was counting his Dinar. I jokingly said "What you got there about 3 dollars?" He laughed and said next month it will be more. I asked what he meant and he said that on the news it is being said that sometime next month the CBI will be removing the 3 zeroes. He wasn't sure what the new value of a Dinar would be, just that they are planning on removing the 000's next month. This may all be over soon..........
  4. So if I acquired my Dinar in Iraq while working overseas, had no added expense, no fees of any kind, I can file it as a capital gain?????
  5. I've wondered the same thing. Kinda lazy and don't feel like looking....gotta link to this????
  6. Although his delivery was a little harsh I agree with jxhal. The Dinar will not revalue without a fully formed, functioning Government, just won't happen. If you bought into the investment with the thought of becoming rich over night, well then you were duped into to believing something that isn't gong to happen. I have no doubt that the value of the Dinar will change, for better or worse. I'm not trying to be negative but there are a few things that have to be completed first. And as slow as the GoI moves I doubt it will be any time real soon.
  7. Now you're catching on. It has RV'd every month since I've been on this site, just can't cash in yet...LOL
  8. I talked to the Iraqi that works with us and he says he has heard nothing of new currency being released. In fact he also said that he wouldn't even have known about an "RV" if it wasn't for me asking him about it.
  9. I'll ask some of the Iraqi's that work with us on base and see what they have heard, if anything. Last time I asked him he knew nothing of an RV.
  10. Actually I think you got it backwards. When they say "this" it's really "next". It was supposed to RV this month but they really meant next month and so on and so on and son....you get the idea.
  11. So nothing will happen until the middle of 2012. I can see it now. We all get rich and 6 months later world ends. Figures.

    NO LOP

EXACTLY. I think the a GoI will keep some of the big bills for large purchases. ANYBODY else (Dinar speculators) who has the large denomination notes, with the exception of another country, will be stuck like chuck.

    NO LOP

I believe this is what we are going to get. Or something very similar. I think we will see another currency introduced, both will be accepted but with different values. Once the big notes are removed from circulation (some will be kept for larger purchases by the GoI) then comes the RV. We'll be lucky to get out what we put in. I'm still holding on to the hope that this isn't what happens but the longer it takes the less optimistic I become.
  14. Iraqi's have been broke for decades, it doesn't mean the RV is eminent.
  15. It would actually be worth 1,000 times less than it is right now, if all they do is change the note and not the value. Some of the countries in the WTO have currencies worth just pennies. South Korea's currency is 1085 KRW to 1 USD
  16. They will not reinstate to a value that was over inflated by the previous regime. The dinar was/still is worthless outside the country. No other country recognized pre-War value. How can they recognize it now? The oil wells that were set on fire were in Kuwait not Iraq? They were set on fire by the retreating Iraqi Army.
  17. Sorry man we missed each other. I didn't get here until September 2010. I've been in country since '0-6, first up in Tikrit and then in Balad before moving down south. The guys you're talking about aren't here anymore. I am actually in the HSE Dept (vector) and all of the Iraqi's working for us now are locals and have been changed out 2 or 3 times since I've been here. They can't seem to get along........
  18. I asked the finance office at the base I'm at about buying back some Dinar. They told me they would only buy back from Military not civilians. This actually makes sense. I can see Soldiers selling their Dinar back to Army finance on their way out of country and since the US has been trying to eliminate the amount of USD in Iraq giving a cashiers check instead of cash sounds reasonable. I'm sure this is only for Military and not civilians and I can guarantee it is not more than the current exchange rate.
  19. I apologize. I guess my fingers were moving faster than my brain. Thanks. It's also like saying you understood the meaning of the original post. If a country like South Korea has a stable economy, security and an export/import industry and their currency is only 1078 to 1 USD, what's makes every one think the Dinar absolutely has to RV???? Especially since Iraq doesn't have a fully functioning Government
  20. I've been working on posting something very similar to your post.........good job. The one that surprised me was South Korea........1078 to 1 USD. I figured theirs would be worth more but as it is right now it is worth a little less than the Dinar. Go figure. I also wonder why Kuwait and Bahrain are valued so much more than other GCC countries?
  21. cdb

    Well?????

The people are the ones who voted. Elections were held in March of last year and they still don't have all the positions filled.
  22. cdb

    Well?????

    New Currency, what?????? Wait a tick.......You don't mean.......They wouldn't do that......would they?????????? LOL....I hear ya man.
