  7. Shabibi .. Is it enough to replace the Iraqi currency to save it from collapse? Coming up ... August 25, 2011 ~ Jackson Hole Economic Meeting - Shabibi 2010, hopeful on economy, Jackson Hole ... Saturday, August 6, 2011 PM - 6th September 1432 - Issue: 8455 Shabibi .. Is it enough to replace the Iraqi currency to save it from collapse? In the past years have fallen Iraqi dinar value due to inflation and deterioration caused by economic sanctions imposed on Iraq after the Kuwait war, through the fall of Baghdad in 2003, to turn into a semi massacres day All these factors made the value of the dinar is going down, prompting the central bank in the same year resort to the adoption of a new mechanism to maintain the dinar's exchange rate lies in the development of an auction foreign exchange to sell quantities of the dollar, resulting from the sale of oil in world markets, and converted to the Development Fund for Iraq, which transforms in turn to the bank to sell in local currency, but it was not enough to save the value of their currency collapse, under the terms of the price fall to become a day about 1120 dinars per dollar. Thus pushing the Iraqi Central Bank's decision to replace the currency Atkhama by deleting three zeros in an attempt to raise the value of the world. Has announced Shabibi Iraqi Central Bank Governor completing the preparation of a plan to replace the current banknotes after the cancellation of three zeros, and include 30 trillion dinars (26 billion dollars), is the value of expected cash bloc, stressing that the timing will be determined by the government and parliament, Iraqi. On the other hand, sees the first in the Central Bank of Iraq the appearance of Mohammed Saleh said that the fundamental problem in the timing of the single currency only, but the application of the new project will be according to mechanisms scalable in the form is not felt by the citizens, are put quantities in the market and the withdrawal of which is maintained by the government banks of the block and replace , and remain only in the possession of the citizens of the trading day, and can conduct his business in the two currencies of any existing and new,'s goods as current price, for example, JD 1000 The customer can give the seller the present paper a class 1000 dinars, as well as be able to give him a coin a new category of one dinar. In the view of economists that this action is not enough to save the Iraqi dinar from collapse as long as the Iraqi economy is weak currency should always be linked strongly the country's economy, and the best proof of that the United States where the dollar dropped because of debt and faltering economy, and generally coming days will determine, either revalue the Iraqi currency if there is demand for it globally or to depreciate more. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&langpair=aren&u=http://www.alarab.qa/mobile/details.php%3FissueId%3D1329%26artid%3D144924

  10. US must tackle government deficit, says IMF report By Andrew Walker Economics correspondent, BBC World Service The IMF says the US should tackle the federal deficit Continue reading the main story Global EconomySurprise fall in UK inflation to 4% IMF eyes recovery as risks remain China in quarterly trade deficit UK and Netherlands to sue Iceland There is an urgent need for the US to tackle the deficit in the government's finances, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The organisation has warned that the size of the deficit risks creating instability in the financial markets. However, the global economic recovery is gaining strength, the IMF said. In developed economies the private sector is increasingly replacing government spending in driving that recovery, it added. This reduces the risks of a renewed recession as governments continue to curb their spending, the IMF's Fiscal Monitor said. However the report warned that developed economies still needed to watch levels of government debt. "Among the advanced economies, the United States, in particular, needs to adopt measures that would allow it to meet its fiscal commitments," the IMF warned. "Market concerns about sustainability remain subdued in the United States, but a further delay of action could be fiscally costly, with deficit increases exacerbated by rising yields," it said. The US federal deficit currently stands at $1.4 trillion (£858bn) and is expected to reach $1.5 trillion in the current fiscal year. Deficit reduction Speaking at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos in January US treasury secretary Timothy Geithner set out the US government's position on the federal deficit. Efforts by some US states such as Florida to tackle their deficits have been met with opposition "There is a much greater recognition across the US political system that our fiscal position is unsustainable in the long-run," said Mr Geithner. "I know there are people who would like to make very deep cuts that would undermine the recovery. "You got to make sure that you don't hurt the recovery and take so much risk that you damage the early expansion by shifting too prematurely to substantial restraints. "We're not going to let that happen. There are some people who like to move... very quickly to do very deep cuts in spending, but it is not the responsible way to do it." Competitive currency The IMF's twice-yearly assessment of the global economy also suggested that risks were building in emerging countries. It said some of them should allow their currencies to rise, which would help contain inflation by making imports cheaper. There was a strong implication that China is one country that the IMF has in mind. A stronger and therefore less competitive currency is something that many other countries would like to see in China. India is forecast to continue growing very strongly in the next two years, though not as rapidly as in 2010, when the IMF's data shows it having grown even faster than China. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13050017

The Iraqi government is keen to ensure the extension of the work of the Fund which was established in 2003 after the fall of Saddam Hussein in order to protect revenues from sales of oil and natural gas in Iraq. Iraq has been under since 1990 under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, which imposed on him after the invasion of the regime of President Saddam Hussein of Kuwait in August of the same year, and this item allows the use of force against Iraq as a threat to international security, in addition to the freezing of large amounts of its assets financial in the international banks to pay compensation to those affected by the invasion of Kuwait. 16. 3 RV Myths ... 3 RV Myths Myth #1. The RV rate has already been set. You probably hear numbers thrown out every day. $3.45, $1, $5.60! However, no one can predict what rate the dinar will revalue at and no one can time it. It is important to keep your ear to the ground to get a feel for the dinar, but stick to official statements when it comes to exact rates. Has the CBI announced it? Has the Government of Iraq announced it? These are the official sources who have the power to make those decisions, if the CBI and GOI hasn’t explicitly announced it, chances are, those rates you hear are guesses, at best. Myth #2. The CBI will stop selling dinar after an RV Why would the CBI cut off the money supply of the entire country after an RV? Traders and financial institutions will still be dealing with the dinar as it becomes globally traded, this is the whole point. It MAY be harder for private individuals to obtain dinar and obviously a lot more expensive, but the CBI will not stop selling the dinar unless it wants to stall its entire financial engine. The RV is not the end all be all to the country of Iraq. The RV is just another step for Iraq to position itself as a major player in the global economy. Myth #3. Certain denominations will be treated differently No. A dinar is a dinar. Just like how five, $20 bills equal one, $100 bill, five 5K notes equal one 25K note. Higher denominations will not be treated any differently, it simply doesn’t matter what denominations you hold with respect to the value of your dinars. The reason why most dinar dealers usually only carry 25K notes is because of logistics. If you think of the volume certain dealers do, 5K notes would take up five times as much space – more shipping and storing costs – than 25K notes. I hope this clears up some rumors for you as it is important to have all of the facts throughout this process.
  17. Message from Phoenix ~ A novel solution to a novel situation ... I would like to explain a couple of things. First the removal of zeros. This is NOT a standard LOP! This is a novel solution to a novel situation. When they say "remove the 3 zeros" They are talking about the removal of the larger denominations the 25,000 the 10,000, the 5,000, the 1,000. Now at the exact same time that they introduce the new currency which is nothing more than the lower denominations that they have had printed for years and in storage they will also revalue the Iraqi Dinar to at or just above the dollar. So I understand why people are having a had time grasping what is about to happen. People are trying to use past economic events in other nations as a guide but the problem is what we are about to see happen is unprecedented and without historical reference. So the doubt and confusion is to be expected. Now the next topic. Iraq the RV and the Dinar Ok I would like to address something that I see brought up all of the time. And that is the question: "How will Iraq cover the exchange? How can they pay for this?" Now what people seem to not understand is that the Iraqi Dinar is the currency of Iraq. The Iraqi Dinar is not a "claim ticket" or "raffle ticket" that will be redeemed for cash. The Iraqi Dinar IS CASH. It is CASH MONEY! The real deal. Just like the Euro...just like the Dollar. So when the revaluation takes place Iraq is not going to turn into a giant currency exchange! Nor would any other nation! People seem to wrongly think that after the RV all of the Iraqi Dinar will be sent back to Iraq and a that Iraqi will be required to exchange their own currency for some other nations currency. That is total BS and not how the world works! The Iraqi Dinar will be it's OWN value! Backed by the wealth of Iraq. Lets say for example that if after the RV you were to walk into an Iraqi bank with 20 million IQD that post RV was worth $20,000,000 USD you will have 2 choices,. 1. Deposit that IQD into an IQD account with strict withdrawl/conversion restrictions. OR 2. Leave the bank and go buy something with your IQD in Iraq. Sure...they may exchange a small amount needed for travel but even that is up to them if they chose to do so. Iraq nor any other nation is not required or expected to exchange their own legal currency for any other currency and that is solely up to their own discretion. Yes Iraq has a lot of currency out side of Iraq....big freaking deal...so does every other nation on earth. The United States has over 2/3rd's of all of our currency spread all over the world. Now lets imagine for a moment that for some reason the United States announced that they were going to RV the USD up to say the Euro rate. What do you think would happen? Do you think the US banks would be flooded with USD from all over the world demanding Euros in exchange? What do you think would happen if you were to walk into a US bank with a suit case full of dollars and demanded they exchange it for Euros? First off they would give you the same two options mentioned above. 1. Deposit those dollars into the bank in a USD account again with strict withdrawl/conversion restrictions. OR 2. Leave and go buy something! There is no law or requirement that any nation do currency exchange and for good reason...it would destabilize the markets and would drain that nations foreign reserves. So all of the talk of "How will Iraqi pay for this" is based upon the lack of understanding of the basic functions and properties of currency itself. So what backs the IQD? The wealth of Iraq itself plain and simple. So there is nothing "to pay for" the IQD itself is the wealth. Hope that helps. Phoenix

  19. Maliki and Alawi finalise Iraqi government ... Sunday 19 Dec 2010 Maliki and Alawi finalise Iraqi government Source confirms to Al-Ahram online that political deadlock has been brought to an end Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and the leader of the largest bloc in the parliament, Iyad Allawi, met yesterday to agree on the final shape of the country’s new government to be announced on Monday, a source told Al-Ahram Online. The meeting took place in the prime minister’s office and was attended by the former prime minister and leader of the National Reform movement bloc, Ibrahim El Jafari. “The trio exchanged the final list of names for government posts which each bloc agreed upon,” the source added. Hours before the three leaders met, the Iraqi parliament lifted a ban imposed on several of Allawi’s Al Iraqiya bloc members preventing them from running in parliamentary elections for alleged ties to Saddam Hussein’s Baathist regime. “Lifting the ban was a core issue in our intensive negotiations with al-Maliki who resisted the pressures to the last minute,” Zafer El Anni, one of the Al-Iraqiya bloc leaders who was banned from running for election because of his past membership of the Baath party, told Al Ahram Online. Tomorrow’s announcement would bring an end to the political deadlock which has gripped the country since parliamentary elections were held nine months ago. Sources have confirmed to Al Ahram online that so far the Al Iraqiya bloc have several posts in the new government including the defence, finance, electricity, health, and labour ministries. http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/2/8/2229/World/Region/Maliki-and-Alawi-apply-final-touches-to-the-new-Ir.aspx
  20. Monday July 19, 2010 Allawi seeks Sadr's support to become Iraqi PM Damascus - Pro-Western Iraqi politician Iyad Allawi sought support on Monday to form a government from Iranian-backed cleric Sayyed Moqtada al-Sadr, in the first meeting between the once bitter rivals. Sadr, an anti-U.S. figure who has emerged as a kingmaker in Iraqi politics, did not endorse Allawi but said Allawi had shown more willingness to compromise than Prime Minister Nuri al- Maliki, who is trying to cling to power after an inconclusive election in March. Sadr and Allawi met at a hotel in the Syrian capital after they had separately been received by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. They later met Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, who was on a brief visit to Syria. Iraq has been gripped by violence and political intrigue since the election, which failed to produce an outright winner. A bloc supported by Sunni politicians and headed by Allawi narrowly won the most seats. Allawi was Iraq's prime minister in 2004 when U.S. forces surrounded Sadr and his followers at the Imam Ali shrine in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf before Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, an Iranian-born cleric, intervened and ensured Sadr safe passage, avoiding a bloodbath inside the grand mosque. Allawi has had uneasy ties with the Najaf seminary and with Islamists in general. He has also criticised the role of Iraqi clergy in politics. "If there were past differences, I am forgetting them so that the political process proceeds," Sadr told reporters "I don't back specific names, but programmes and mechanisms to arrive at the next prime minister," he added, saying Allawi had promised him to draft a political programme he would adopt if he became prime minister. Allawi said Sadr's views were "positive, showing care to preserve Iraq and accelerate forming a government". "Something I am sure of is that the Sayyed (Sadr) will honour his word," Allawi said An aide to Allawi said he could become prime minister if he secured the support of Sadr and the two main Kurdish blocs. Allawi has good ties with key Arab rulers and the United States, and has been trying to exploit discord between Iraq's main Shi'ite factions over Maliki's attempt to win a second term. http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/7/20/worldupdates/2010-07-19T225037Z_01_NOOTR_RTRMDNC_0_-502435-1&sec=Worldupdates
  21. February 28, 2010 - 04:36:11 PM: Iraqi dinar re-evaluation has to do with economic conditions BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said on Sunday that the process to re-evaluate the Iraqi dinar has to do with economic conditions that have to be strengthened. “The Iraqi dinar has all the reasons to grow stronger thanks to an increase in revenues and development of the economy,” Maliki said in response to some questions through the National Information Center. “The government would not rush matters but would rather work on finding all the guarantees to render this measure a success. The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) is currently entrusted with drawing up a study on the whole issue and would give its decision soon,” said the Iraqi premier. The Iraqi dinar’s exchange rate is suffering from low value against foreign currencies as a result of decades of wars and economic embargo that brought the local currency’s exchange rate to the rock bottom from three dinars per dollar in the late 1970s and 1980s to 3,000 dinars per dollar after the 1990 invasion of Kuwait, followed by a 13-year crippling sanctions regime. The exchange rate fell even more after 2003 to reach 1170 dinars per dollar due to the CBI’s policy of daily auction, in effect for more than five years now. The policy was lambasted by several economists on the grounds that these auctions do not give the real value of the country’s local currency. 25. my question to all is why the imf chief would say something like this. he has also mentioned three times these lines... RAPID GROWTH SOON I read this article couple of days ago but i overlooked it & suddenly it hit me, while i was reading something about the chapter 7 Tuesday, March 30, 2010 US set to see rapid growth soon The US economy looks set to return to relatively rapid growth soon, said International Monetary Fund Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn yesterday. "The US economy, while it has been hard hit by the crisis, may recover rather rapidly," Strauss-Kahn said in a speech at the Warsaw School of Economics, during a visit to Poland. "It's a flexible economy," noted Frenchman Strauss-Kahn, who is Managing Director of the Washington-based global lender. "We'll see how rapid the recovery in the US economy can be. But I'm rather confident that the US economy will grow rather rapidly again quite soon," he added. In January, the IMF raised its forecast for US growth this year to 2.7 per cent from output in 2009, from its earlier 1.5-per cent forecast. Strauss-Kahn did not say whether the IMF was set to revise its forecast upwards again. He said he remains confident that the US economy will witness rapid growth soon. emirates 24/7 http://articlesofinterest-kelley.blogspot.com/2010/03/imf-chief-us-set-to-see-rapid-growth.html
