The Iraqi elections and the US SFA are prevalent on the minds of those politicians who are dealing with that aspect of the Iraqi government but to 85 to 95 percent of Iraqi's this vote isn't about the SFA or the US. Or you don't understand that then you have absolutely zero concept or idea of how these people think. It boils down to three factions, sunni, shiite and kurd. Kurds are the redheaded stepchild no one wants to deal with. More shiites in Iraq but sunnis are more numerous in slam. and have more political umphff in the ME. You know how each election in the US they say what are the top three things on the minds of the American people? Well this SFA doesn't even come into the top 5 in Iraq in the minds of the Iraqi people. If that list was extended out to 10 it might come in at 9 or 10 but that would just be such a minute part of the concerns iraqis have in their daily lives for the elections. It would be like saying the Kardashians created a sex tape so vote for Kayne. Doesn't equate. You are way overthinking things at this point. This would not be surprising they would be targetting this in this 5-year plan as these are the very subjects found within the 2016 SBA agreement the IMF has identified Iraq has great need to work on to meet the milestones. One of those benchmarks is to increase the non-oil producing sectors of Iraq. The SBA is due for its third review in August and results out by November/December (with a final report due out in May 2019). Based off of how many of the milestones get waived or are missed will determine the future economic viability of the dinar.
