VERY suspect article! NOTAMs are used to communicate flight and terminal information to pilots/aircrew. They are NOT used to generally communicate with line AF personnel. I retired just 5 years ago, after serving 26 years in the AF. Part of my job was to post NOTAMs. Definitely need more info before getting outraged over this article.

Why do we have the largest military? We have the most to lose! No other country has ever been in a position to lose so much economically as the United States. If you like what we (still) have, we must protect it. To do that properly, and be a deterrent to aggression, we need a globally capable and very visible military.

I believe it boils down to this......somebody, somewhere, isn't getting what they want. When they do, an RV of some sort will happen. The gurus have really been trying to figure out who that is and what they want; confusion comes because many of them just don't realize it.

Tradition does not require logic - especially in our current time frame. Rest assured, it made perfect sense years ago. That said, most states and federal courts have provided other methods for you to make an oath. A Bible is no longer required.

Like it or not, our system is what it is --the for the moment. We're NOT going to see any significant change before November 2012. Maggie, have ever used or played with a sparkler? What we use "...to light up the night sky..." works on the same principle -- burning metal. While it does burn very hot, it's not inherently dangerous or radioactive after it burns out.

What am I missing? I went to the site below to review the text of the bill.... http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/s1813/text I can find the passport confiscation and travel restrictions, but I can't find any mention of guns or firearms and the IRS. There is a mention of firearms in another section, but it refers only to transport of weapons and ammunition.

Thanks, Roadrunner! Funny how civs are so quick to see conspiracies when the US has the best LOAC track record in the world (including UN forces!). Personally, the crusty MSgt that sent me to Desert Shield had the best idea for the problem at hand...carpet bomb the entire country, then sift thru the wreckage for the WMDs. Wouldn't be right, but sure would've been cheaper and easier!

When I retired 5 years ago, WP and DU were not internationally banned. They are VERY expensive and not every army/nation can afford to use them like we do. Are there harmful after-effects? You bet! But, the destruction is localized and civilian casualties are reduced. DU, in particular is necessary to effectively breech armored targets without destroying everything around it. And before you start throwing rocks at me, Yes, WP is internationally banned for direct use against Personnel only. If we were really the monsters described, we would still be using napalm. (Very Effective! Sticks to kids!)

Google the PPs -- you'll find out more than you really wamt. The WF code is supposedly a cash-out group number with a high exchange rate. The WF Negoiting Team is an internal action team atis WF; they won't show up on Google.
