  1. The old currency will not be able to be traded for goods and services, and only cashed in at banks. The banks will force you to open an account to cash in, wait for verification, and then deposit in your new account. Sounds like Bank of America to me. If your currency is found to be counterfeit, do they return it to you, or does the banker that has a shop that sells goats, falafel, and acts as a teller for the bank, just tell you that your currency is counterfeit? I hope that the least that can afford it can get to a government bank. JMHO.
  2. Yes, fond memories. If anybody can remember the Helms Bakery trucks (George!) then I will buy you a doughnut. Those times remind me of a chicken in every pot......
  3. Uncirculd, the next steps will probably even surprise the Iraqis. Who will blink first? It seems to me that the opposition PMs have their heels dug in and Maliki is toast. He may get an Academy Award for "Mr. Naive in Who me?" but I don't think there is a sequel. Get the popcorn and beer, put your feet up, because this movie is starting and I can wait to see the credits. I think it may run through the weekend, so I will bring Milk Duds and an All Day Sucker for Maliki. Did you have those suckers when you were a kid? They were a nickel.
  4. When you have a system that is not maintained or adequate and then put to the test with high temperatures, it blows. I feel so sorry for those people. For two days I have been in about 105 without running water and electricty intermittently, and it made me very cranky. I cannot imagine what these people feel like, especially if you are hungry and bombs can explode at any moment. Maliki should be hung for the misery he has caused for greed and power, and all of his buddies should be sharing the consequences.
  5. Interesting the different ways to look at it. I saw it as a definitive move for a vote on a specific day and not stalling at all.

  7. Oh, Harb. Please threaten the United Nations at this delicate point in your infancy of wealth, growth, development and democracy. The UN holds the key right now,and Mr. Kobler is the keymaster. Harb is one of Maliki goon boyz and this is rhetoric is another example of the desperate spot they are in. What a moron!
  8. I would think that is a huge threat and not necessarily to actually be done. Good on them to show conviction in order to get rid of Maliki.
  9. One issue in this article is the funding. It has always been said that CBI had to go to Parliament to get the $150 or so million bucks to pay for the printing and we would see the legislation. If CBI is paying for it, we don't have that clue. If it were me, I would distribute the lds that were printed in 2003, even though they do not have the Kurdish language on them. The life expectancy of a paper bill in Iraq was what - 6-8 months? I wouldn't waste the millions of dollars and time for new bills.
  10. We have seen over and over that "next month" means this month. But hey, this is Iraq. I would assume it means at the end of JUNE. They also have Ramadan coming up.

  16. This article and the photo should be used in textbooks for Propoganda 101. A definition for me would be: last ditch efforts. The US doesn't want him, and I doubt seriously if the Iranians want him, the government doesn't want him, and I would say he is fast becoming a man without a country.
  17. The crisis is over? Great, the concrete barriers are back up. But is the crisis over? You still have to walk through concrete walls for protection to get to work. I think there might be another crisis looming out there somewhere. Maybe it's just me. Thanks for the article SoCal, and thanks for bringing the news for us.

  19. She, b*tchy b*tch, does not give reasons why because she does not understand the process. Neither do I,but I am not sitting on a Finance Committee and talking to the press. fnbplanet, she is probably warmer in the winter than you too, and that's without a coat..
  20. Thanks Steve. What is that saying about only being human...........
  21. Anyone from San Diego goes to the front of the bus. If you have one good index finger and no plans for the weekend, although Mission Bay would be great, we have a Maliki / Baghdad field trip coming up, and Zigmeister loves pink shoes, so you are in. Someone will be in touch.
  22. Steve, I read Kap's breakdowns too, but I not seeing the loss of common sense that I think you are addressing. The quote you included does not seem off-the-wall to me. Am I missing something? I'm glad to hear your take on this.
