  1. Where has everyone gone? The forum is starting to look just like CompuServ just before AOL turned it into an Internet portal. The rooms need a coat of paint, the carpet is getting a little threadbare, the beer stains a bit smelly. And nobody has stocked the vending machines in months. I had to visit dozens of threads before I could find a machine with one stale Snickers bar in it. And a working cappuccino machine? Furgetaboutit! All that's left are faded Instagram snaps on peeling, virtual walls. Oh, and a few tear stained 50 Dinar notes.
  2. Come on sterling, get with the program! lol Sterling says in their popup: "Finally, we believe the record will show that representations made about internal communications between employees at Sterling in the civil complaint filed by the federal government are inaccurate and taken out of context." One of the emails between the co-owners says: "The point is that her [sic] and I have worked way too hard in life for us to risk everything based on your belief (even if I agree with you) that the Iraqi dinar will not RV and it is ok to make millions of dollars in false promises to our customers. Not only are we risking everything we own, we are risking serious jail time as promoters of a ponzi scheme. . ." And yet, they went right ahead and did just that! I dunno. Seems pretty clear to me.
  3. Popup message on the Sterling website. I mean, what else would they say. "Given our long history of proactively working with federal authorities, Sterling Currency Group was completely surprised by the recent federal complaint and strongly denies any allegations of wrong doing. Sterling has been in business as a currency exchange company since 2004 and in that time has conducted millions of exchange service transactions with nearly 200,000 customers, all the while maintaining an "A" rating with the Better Business Bureau. Sterling has spent millions of dollars and logged thousands of hours to ensure complete compliance with statutes and regulations in all 50 states as well as with the federal government. Additionally, the company has also proactively sought independent audits and inspections since 2007. It has requested and participated in meetings with officials from multiple federal agencies to ensure all actions of the company are above reproach. The company has been registered with the United States Department of the Treasury, through the Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) bureau, as a Money Service Business since 2006, and thus has participated in on-site examinations by FinCEN on several occasions. Despite the statements in the civil complaint, every single business related to the owners of Sterling Currency Group is legitimate and is compliant with all state and federal laws. Finally, we believe the record will show that representations made about internal communications between employees at Sterling in the civil complaint filed by the federal government are inaccurate and taken out of context."
  4. So with the help of U.S. weapons, Iraq will take back Ramadi. Hmmm. Have you seen the aerial photos of the towns that have been rescued from ISIS? There is nothing left of them but a pile of rubble. Even when Iraq "wins," they lose.
  5. Not if you're pumping a billion barrels of oil a day (Iraq seems to think they will always be able to sell as much at they can pump, without limit)! Of course, oil would then be selling for a nickel a barrel; but, why let reality get in the way! Advancements in technology will make oil obsolete long before Iraq could sell enough to pay off such a debt.
  6. And despite it all, a year from now we'll still be waiting... www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBIxScJ5rlY
  7. I can see where 50K notes would be popular among travelers to Iraq. Less folding money to have to stuff in their pockets.

  9. The history off the Vietnam Dong exchange rate. (Toward the middle of the document). Kind of interesting read. http://intl.econ.cuhk.edu.hk/exchange_rate_regime/index.php?cid=12
  10. Attacking me personally won't make the RV happen, you know. But if it makes you feel superior, have at it. There is money to be made with the Dinar; but, it's going to a much longer slog than we at first imagined.
  11. My opinion has been the normal course of growth for countries. A 100,000 percent RV has never happened. The likelyhood isn't, in fact, the same.
  12. Yes, rock, but when they sell those bonds without the International currency, folks will forget about this current bluster.
  13. Exactly. Building a country takes time. It could take decades more. Our real hope is that they don't demonetize the currency we hold before that happens. Is a 100,000 percent RV a fact?
  14. The Dinar will increase in value gradually over the years as Iraq slowly grows their economy...just like every other economy in the world.
  15. Every time all the things that were supposed to trigger the RV have happened, someone glums onto a new announcement, which is then added to the list of "ands."
  16. O.K. So it takes a credit rating, an internationally traded currency, a lot of oil underground, security, an HCL, billions in loans from the IMF, all the currency removed from the country, Maliki strung up on a tree,....and, and, and, and...
  17. So where's the secret sauce that will trigger an RV for Iraq that hasn't triggered an RV for Vietnam?
  18. All this talk about Iraq wanting a credit rating. Vietnam has a credit rating. Vietnam | Credit Rating Standard & Poors credit rating for Vietnam stands at BB-. Moodys rating for Vietnam sovereign debt is B2. Fitchs credit rating for Vietnam is B+. In general, a credit rating is used by sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and other investors to gauge the credit worthiness of Vietnam thus having a big impact on the country's borrowing costs. This page provides - Vietnam | Credit Rating - actual values, historical data, forecast, chart, statistics, economic calendar and news. 4/30/2015
  19. Some do, some don't. The bottom line is that it is not enough on Dinarvets to advocate that you will make money on the Dinar. You have to advocate you will make money on the Dinar in a certain way.
  20. You misunderstand the purpose of this "lopster tank." While some who have been restricted to this area of the forum have advocated a LOP, many of us have never suggested that we support the idea of a LOP. It is a place to put people who are not Go Rv'ers. I, for example, have consistently argued that I do not think the GOI has the political will to lop the currency. I think that the value of the Dinar will increase gradually over time as Iraq's economy improves and their financial basis diversifies. That belief clearly isn't consistent with the huge overnight RV this forum insists is the only acceptable outcome.
  21. His logic seems to be that they will gradually raise the value of the existing denominations over a year or two and we will still be able to cash out. But, why would they do that, when that would cost them a lot of dollars. Wouldn't it make more sense from their standpoint to remove the large denominations before they increased the value?
  22. Another Guru site is quoting Kaperoni as saying that his proof that there will not be a lop is that Iraq is saying that they will use lower denomination currency that has a higher value, thus reducing the note count. Uh, isn't lower denomination Dinar that has a higher value a LOP? Doesn't sound to me like this is what we want to happen. We want the existing Dinar to increase in value. Kap seems to be lost in his own hopium.
  23. Well, caz, it doesn't seem that being a Go RV'er has resulted in any more RV's than being a Lopster has resulted in a Lop. It has neither RV'ed nor Lopped in over 10 years. Given that fact, it's hard to see why anyone favors one over the other. I think that, if Iraq can get their stuff together, the value of the currency will gradually increase over the years, and that's what I hope for.
  24. Those who have predicted no RV have been 100 percent accurate. Those predicting an RV, 100 percent wrong. A decade long track record.
