  1. Everyone should go see Atlas Shrugged before it leaves movie theaters. Very good movie that will make you evaluate the way things are and where there heading. It's too bad the movie got no publicity and therefore will be ignored by most. Don't miss out. If you understand Economics and favor capitalism over communism this is both a must see and scary to watch realizing how close we are to being this way.
  2. I doubt this lottery will ever hit and make us rich at this point. I say this having been invested for a few years now and always seeing it be "right around the corner" and with all this new progress being made "it has to change soon". That being said I still hold on to mine, knowing not to sell it just in case of the unlikely event of an RV or the more likely event of something else happening and it results in me breaking even. If you know the worst that can happen is you breaking even, you just stash it and laugh a little at your dream of this being your lottery ticket. You should never invest in anything that will make you take it so seriously as to let it affect your mood.
  3. 'm writing an informative essay on the Tea Party for a college paper and need sources for it. I'm having trouble going through their websites and finding their particular stance on issues in foreign policy (trading with other countries, military policies involving other nations, etc ...) and domestic policy (tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, issues dealing with the environment and education, etc..) The only thing I've found so far is cutting taxes is a good idea and repealing everything Obama's done (without actually providing substantial information on why there bad ideas and why there's would be better). Please post the links to any good reliable websites that will help me understand where they stand on these issues and why. Thanks
  4. I don't believe these are new "tax hikes", but the end of bush's "tax cut". Everything is going back to the rates before his term. Not saying I enjoy my taxes going up, far from it. However I think it's better to view these things in the proper context.
  5. I'm not referring to the article saying that, but rather that is a lot of people's attitude to fixing problems is to make him go away. I was also making a point that his critics say he should do something and when he does it they still criticize him for it. Not many people ever present real ideas to fix problems but just come up with zingy one liners that don't help anyone.
  6. so my understanding is people think Obama should make BP accountable for the situation even making them pay for it, but when he does he's hurting the private sector? I don't understand how people can want the government to mind their own business and let the private sector work things out, but when they screw up big time everyone wants them to step in, fix it, and make them accountable. Then they attempt to do this and you decide that they shouldn't get so involved in what the business does. It seems like no matter what they do your going to find a reason to disagree with them. If people would list specifically what realistic actions should be taken to fix these problems I would like to see them. A realistic option is not "Obama should resign", that's just trolling and not presenting any ideas to solve the problems.
  7. sorry for your loss stargazer. You have my condolences
  8. I believe the "apparently you are not" is in reference to you being well informed. He meant no malice towards your father. Veterans don't disrespect their fallen brothers and sisters.
  9. I'm with you, I'm tired of people talking like they know what the military is like and all about just because a family member or a friend served. A person doesn't know how to do surgery because there father is a doctor and they don't know how to defend someone in a court of law because their friend is a lawyer, so why do they think it is different with the military?
  10. your full of it Mongo. If you had ever served you would know that no troops have ever turned their back or shown disrespect to any acting of former President at any event, nor will they. They are the Commander and Chief. Despite any personal feelings, we always show the utmost respect to these people who are elected to be our leaders. It goes with the territory of being part of the greatest military on earth.
  11. Congrats on being a brat, but I actually serve my country currently so I think I know more about what has been done for us than you do. Smoke and mirrors is an excuse to pretend it didn't happen that way, which it did. If you could see the opportunity that this one thing passing congress has done for us first hand, you wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. There is a perception of things and then reality. For example, The military raises that took effect in the military as soon as Bush took office were originally signed into action by Clinton during his term. But as all things that are done by presidents it takes quite a few years for them to take effect. Therefore Bush gets recognition for it because most people don't care to see why they got the pay raise, there just happy to get it. Plenty of people support the Dems, because in our service we are a melting pot of different people just like America. One reason people support the Dems is because they grow tired of 18 month deployments with 6 months back home to spend with their family only to turn around and be sent back overseas again for another year. But it's always so much easier to be an arm chair supporter of war and justify the reasons behind it when you sit at home and let someone else do the work of what you "support".
  12. Contained within the section related to these letters, it is forbidden for anyone receiving a NSL warning to even acknowledge the existence of said communication. How convenient, so I guess we'll never really know the truth. I didn't realize we had conspiracy theorist on this site. Maybe we should create a conspiracy section.
  13. Your link says this bill has zero chance of passing. So other than stirring everyone into a frenzy about a non issue that will never happen, why share?
  14. What about Obama's support for the new 9/11 GI Bill which allows for veterans to go to a state school and get a 4 year degree while also receiving money to help pay for their bills. This new GI Bill was a great improvement over the last one. There were a lot of people who opposed passing this bill, such as war veteran John McCain, who thought it would encourage too many people to get out of the military after their first enlistment was up. As if serving your country for 4+ years wasn't good enough, Republicans were in favor of only offering the new and improved GI Bill to those who retired after 20 years. So who's action in this instance were noble and honoring to the veteran's?
  15. I respect the fact that ayaimmortal was willing to answer questions about his experience today. While I doubt this info is true, I don't believe he is trying to mislead anyone but just share information that he got. jmo
  16. anyone that's been around for a while know that both these ppl are full of it and have zero credibility.
  17. Where you at Ron when everyone talks negative about the current president?
  18. I read a couple articles that stated fining those without health insurance and other such ideas have been around the republican party ever since the Regan years. I think Romney tried to do something similar to this when he was governor. If your really mad you shouldn't just be mad at Democrats you should be mad at all of them. The right could have easily tried to compromise and get a better bill passed. Instead they just chose to talk big and do nothing. When your that much in the minority you have to compromise, otherwise they'll just pass the stuff without you. If ppl are serious about solving the problems in Washington they would try to get a 3rd party established and elected. If ppl want to use the tea party as the 3rd party that's fine. But if your just going to have the tea party go and vote republican then there not really a separate party, there just a different section like the evangelicals. In this instance there not doing anything revolutionary to change the status quo, there just creating a new marketing campaign for the right
  19. It can't be a good sign for your team if he's your opening day starter
  20. I'm interested in buying the smaller notes, but can't find anywhere to buy them other than ebay like sites. If you find anywhere legit that deals with them let us know.
  21. Can anyone tell me why Frank is such good buddies with Ali and gets to drop his name all the time, but I hear that Sonny1 dropped his name about something and got thrown under the bus for it?
  22. Even if it is lopped there's no point in selling what you already own. There still going to revalue it and you'll get around the same amount of money of it's current worth. If anyone thinks that there is a chance of a lop they should just hold off on buying more. This should all be resolved one way or another by the end of the year.
  23. I've been trying to find a place that will either sell them or let me exchange my 25K notes for these smaller ones. Anyone know of a place?
  24. interesting, I wonder why they don't show them on the cbi website? They look very similar to the 250 notes to me
