  2. Homosexual behavior in animals From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia For homosexuality in humans, see Homosexuality. Further information: List of animals displaying homosexual behavior Two male Mallards, Anas platyrhynchos Homosexual behavior in animals is sexual behavior among non-human species that may be interpreted as homosexual or bisexual. This may include sexual activity, courtship, affection, pair bonding, and parenting among same-sex animal pairs. Research indicates that various forms of this are found throughout the animal kingdom.[1][2] Close to 1,500 species, ranging from primates to gut worms, have been observed engaging in such behavior and this is well documented for 500 of them.[3][4] According to Bruce Bagemihl, "the animal kingdom [does] it with much greater sexual diversity – including homosexual, bisexual and nonreproductive sex – than the scientific community and society at large have previously been willing to accept."[5] Nevertheless, Bagemihl points out, this is "necessarily an account of human interpretations of these phenomena".[6] Simon Levay introduced the further caveat that "Although homosexual behavior is very common in the animal world, it seems to be very uncommon that individual animals have a long-lasting predisposition to engage in such behavior to the exclusion of heterosexual activities. Thus, a homosexual orientation, if one can speak of such thing in animals, seems to be a rarity."[7] One species in which exclusive homosexual orientation occurs, however, is that of domesticated sheep (Ovis aries).[8][9] "About 10% of rams (males) refuse to mate with ewes (females) but do readily mate with other rams."[9] The sexual behavior of non-human animals takes many different forms, even within the same species, though homosexual behavior is best known from social species. The motivations for and implications of these behaviors have yet to be fully understood, since most species have yet to be fully studied.[10] The observation of homosexual behavior in animals can be seen as both an argument for and against the acceptance of homosexuality in humans, and has been used especially against the claim that it is apeccatum contra naturam ('sin against nature').[3] For instance, homosexuality in animals was cited in the United States Supreme Court's decision in Lawrence v. Texas which struck down the sodomy laws of 14 states.[11]

  8. I work on the docks in LA, Calif, Longshoreman. Our union is great. Unlike most unions in the US we get paid mostly by foreign owned companies. Companies like Yang Ming, China shipping, Hangin, Maersk, Zim, Cosco (not Costco the store). These shipping companies makes tons of money. $$$$$ It takes 3 % of there profit to pay us. 1% Wages 1% Pensions 1% Medical Unlike police, fire, state, teachers, prison workers unions ect. US taxpayers DO NOT pay our wages. I'm not a fan of many other unions also though. ILWU Local 13
  9. Looks as if they were not that needy. I feel money should be distributed to those that really need it. They had a free shopping spree for NEEDY Kids at Toys R Us. One kid that was getting free toys had braces on ? Needy ? My Longshoreman Union always gives away hundreds of Thanksgiving Day Baskets and Turkeys. I see people pulling up in newer SUVs and loading up and taking advantage of the freebies. What a joke.
  10. Met this guy building a house on the beach near Palos Verdes $$$ here in Los Angeles. He paid $2,600,000 for a ocean front fixer. Tore it down to the studs and rebuilt the whole 2 story house. The county accessor will tax him at $ 3 million at just over 1% Figure $30,000 a year in property taxes or about $2500 a month OMG what a ripoff here in CA. And I thought mine were outrageous at $6500 a year. My brother has a house here that he paid off worth about $750,000 he has been in it 35 years. He is locked in with Prop 13 and his taxes are only $1100 a year. PD41

  12. Mountain Man Arrested for Trying to Feed Himself, owns judge. In a packed courtroom, 52-year-old Ernie Tertelgte told the judge “I am a living man protected by natural law and I have the right to forage for food when I am hungry… You are trying to create a fictitious, fraudulent action.” Charged with fishing without a license and resisting the arrest for fishing without a license, Mr. Tertegte says he’s being wrongly prosecuted for trying to feed himself. Tertelgte, 52 years old, was arrested on Monday and is accused of fishing without a license and then resisting arrest. He appeared before the judge via video from the Gallatin County Detention Center, and it was standing room only more than a dozen friends and family members filled the small courtroom. Tertelgte appeared subdued and respectful before the Justice of the Peace during Tuesday's court session, which went very differently than his court appearance earlier this month, where Tertelgte and Three ForksCity Judge Wanda Drusch got into a heated exchange. Terteltge argued that the court did not have the authority to charge him, citing "natural law." He told the judge, "You are trying to create a fictitious, fraudulent action." He continued, "I am the living man, protected by natural law." He then yelled, "Do not tell me to shut up! I am the living, natural man, and my voice will be heard!" Terteltge then pointed at the flag and said, "That is the Jolly Roger, that thing you call the American flag with the golf fringe around it is the Jolly Roger, and you are acting as one of its privateers!" When the judge noted that he had pleaded not guilty, Terteltge countered, "I never plead, animals plead, sounds like baaaa, oink oink." The back and forth exchange continued for a few more moments, and the hearing ended after both the judge and the defendant walked out. This time, extra law enforcement officers were in court Tuesday and the proceedings happened without any outbursts. A friend of Tertelgte's told us that he and the others came to court to enforce the Constitution. William Wolf said, "It's we the people that run this and rule this country, not we the courts, not we the government, and if the people don't start standing up for themselves and for each other, we are going to continue being subjects of this government." Justice Adams set Tertelgte's bond at $500 and his next court hearing is scheduled for January.
