  1. The Iraq Business News reported that the government is considering the sale of more than 600,000 state owned properties including around 1,000 that formerly belonged to Saddam Hussein. The sale could potentially yield $150 billion helping to bolster the country's finances. But according to a report from the Times of Israel the parliamentary financial committee is still weighing up the plan amid fears that it would allow influential figures to gain possession of huge swathes of former state property at discount prices. There was no report that the CBI would receive the money.
  2. Just for the record I am from BASTON. I am a die hard Patriot fan. They will crush the ponies!!!!
  3. The international ratings agency , Fitch, issued its first rating on Iraq sovereign debt, giving it the fifth worst junk grade due in part to the cost of the civil conflict and the global slump in oil prices. Iraq's fiscal position has deteriorated rapidly since 2013 and Fitch forecasts a double digit fiscal deficit. Political risk and insecurity are among the highest faced by any sovereign rated by Fitch. Savings buffers built during previous years of high oil prices have been largely eroded and the deficit will be financed by debt, likely including a Eurobond and funding through an IMF rapid financing instrument.
  4. Ships yea right...I am still waiting for our ship to come in.
  5. The World Bank expects the Iraq economy to grow 3.1 percent in 2016, according to its flagship "Global Economic Prospects" report. Growth rates of 7.1 and 6.5 percent are predicted for 2017 and 2018. The report warns that with external financing conditions expected to tighten Iraq could have difficulty attracting enough foreign capital to finance its dept. " Budget deficits were financed in 2015 predominantly by borrowing from stateowned banks the Development Fund for Iraq was exhausted by 2014".

  11. The Governor of the CBI stated that Iraqs foreign currency reserves to total $60 billion by end of year. According to the report by Bloomberg that is higher than the International Monetary Fund predicts and sufficient to maintain the dinars buying power. How does this fit with our picture of things? www.iraq-businessnews.com
