I'm hanging onto mine. In fact, not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but what if an expected or unexpected consequence of the Shabibi removal is to draw Dinar back into Iraq hoping a bunch of investors sell their Dinar? Things that make you go, "Hmmmmm".

You and me both brother. I had an 8th grade algebra teacher (40 years ago) whio told us, "Figures don't lie, but liars figure". I have no idea how to interpret anything in the world of finance anymore since it seems like the books are cooked constantly and "fuzzy math" prevails. I have no argument with anyone's math or opinions here, just agreeing that my brain has turned to mush over all the possibilities. lol.

Saw this today. Thanks for posting it. The one thing that struck me about this article is that they didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. All investments assume risk. Every currency or stock investment is speculative. If anyone ever got into this thinking it was a "Get rich quick" thing, they should have just gone ahead and become Amway dealers. Nothing against Amway or folks who are involved in it, I'm just using it as a sales pitch example. I don't encourage or discourage any of my friends or family on investments. Do your homework and make your own decisions and risk your money at your own expense. I do find it interesting that as they are disparaging the expense of brokers that no one points out that Wells Fargo does exactly the same thing with many of their "financial services". Then again, I'm not a Wells Fargo fan for a variety of reasons and past experiences. I would like to see something by the Wall Street Journal sometime on the dinar. That would be interesting.

First of all, I am not all that intelligent on Dinar. As a matter of fact, I'm probably one of the least knowledgable folks on here about the subject. Your screen shots are obviously real and I can see why you would feel encouraged. I would too! And there are no stupid questions in my world otherwise I'd never ask one. lol. I was only pointing out that I was in Europe and at the Forex Currency Exhanges they all denied any activity or that they would even exchange Dinar. I took $25k with me just in case I could fly back first class I truly have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. I wish I did, but I don't. There have been other times in the past where screens would show anomolies then change back. No idea why this occurs. My opinion is there is a ways to go before anything happens. Whether that be a redenom, a LOP, or a RV I don't know. I think they have a plan, but I think there are too many factions and fingers in the pie right now and I still believe Chapter VII issues and in particular the Erbil agreement and full government & stability need to be completed before the Dinar will see any significant change. JMO!

I posted on a similar article and I'll post it here again. I was in France last week and there was no activity in France on the Dinar exchange rate. I was in multiple Forex Exchange facilities in the past 14 days in Italy, France, and Spain and none of them would acknowledge any Dinar transactions as possible. I asked at every one of them I was in what the exchange rate was and they all told me they did not exchange Dinar at any rate as it was not a recognized currency for exchange. Folks, I think its time for a little common sense to start creeping into the Dinar discussions. Gurus are either making stuff up or being fed a load of feces by their "sources" and repeating it. Please just see if anything you read passes the "smell" test and your own gut feelings before putting any stock in it.

I can confirm this did not happen. I was in Italy, France, and Spain for the last 2 weeks and just now got back. There was no Dinar exchange listed at any of the Forex exchange posts I visited and I asked every day at every one of them I went to.

If this is true it is not very smart imo. I doubt the U.S. is going to look kindly on this.

Maybe Maliki is taking a page from U.S. procedures. When we have a new President-elect he's immediately afforded vast amounts of "protection". $5 says this will be Maliki's excuse, "I sent them in for his own safety". That being said, I agree wholeheartedly with dog53. Peace and prosperity do not match Sadr's goals imo.

My opinion, and it is only that, is that you are absolutey correct. I'm no Barry fan, but a lot of EO's are signed without the prez ever having much involvement in them. It's tasked out and they rely on advice and just sign them with only a basic overview. Not just this prez, but all of them. Most don't micro-manage. They can't. Well, except for Carter, but then, schedule times for the tennis courts were the most important issues of 1977-1980 as we all know.

How true Dina. I've met 2 folks in person I've met online who passed away and 2 who, although I never met, also passed. It breaks my heart when we lose these folks that are friends. I had heard about Sarge and I'm so sad he didn't get the chance to dance with us when this finally happens. But I'm sure he's celebrating better than any of us ever will here on Earth.

I agree 100%. But just like any world economy, I think the way things are in the worl financial markets right now are slowing down their ability to grow at a faster rate. Thanks for the response. I agree with you.

I would just like to post that we should remember all our friends and former posters that for whatever reason are no longer with us. SgtFury, we miss you my friend. PBRman, I hope things are going better for you. Those are just 2 folks that I miss here. You long time posters I'm sure have many, many more. My point is, while we all get caught up in the RV, I never, ever want to forget the great folks I've met and chatted with here. When it comes down to it, sometimes I need to put things back in perspective and felt the need to post as such. Take care all.

To quote the ever articulate Sgt Schultz "I know Nothing!". However, that doesn't mean I don't have an opinion. News has been slow. More oil finds are great for the country long term. I really think Iraq's economy is going to grow slowly. They have a lot of potential and considerable resources, but they can't get their act together to for lack of a better analogy, "pimp them for profit". They can have all the "potential" in the world, but right now, with the scramble over the problems with the global economy, combined with Iraq's inability to politically and socially come together for the good of their country, I see this as lasting awhile. Please don't get me wrong, I'm still totally convinced this is a great investment. I just think it is going to take awhile before they get their act together and the world monetary funds to settle down to allow an RV to happen. I hope I'm wrong, but every country appears to be looking out to protect themselves more than invest in other countries. It will happen, I'm convinced. But I feel unless Iraq decides to take the bull by the horns and determine their own destiny it may take a bit yet. jmo.

With all the speculation about Iran and any influence it might have on Iraq internal actions, what do you all make of the Iran election results today?

Its like watching a Hare Krishna cult to me. I have to keep reading them for laughs. I also enjoy all the new things I learn that he/they make up. The followers hang on his every word which is sad. Like today, we now have a new time standard - "World Alignment Time". This fits in well with the 14 new "Three Letter Agencies", the "I've been told by the government not to say anymore", and my all time favorite, "If you all knew what I knew you wouldn't be able to handle it".

Don't know why you got negged unless it was the sarcasm, but I evened you out. This is a valid point, but the UNSC is not going to lift the Ch Vii until Kuwait signs off on it. I agree, Kuwait can't do it, but their blessing leads us closer to June when the UNSC meets again to review sanctions.

Encouraging article. I hope it is true. One step at a time. Hopefully all the positive moves are in fact taking place. Erbil, Chaper Vii, etc. I truly still remained concerned about the amount of currency that is reportedly out there, but am cautiously optimistic we cood see a return this year.
