  1. Very true, unless they went $ for Dinar or even less. It will be interesting to see what, or if, they do. I have a friend whose son is currently in Vietnam on a school project. He says for $5 USD he can stay in very nice hotels. Probably similar to a Holiday Inn in the USA. That's about $104k Dong at the current conversion rate. But since the Vietnamese make so much less, and their goods cost proportionately less, it is a wash when it comes down to it for the locals. I would have to think that if the value increases in Iraq, the prices of goods would be adjusted accordingly. Maybe this is why we see so many references to inflation mentioned. As I said, I'm in over my head when it comes to the big picture and the economics involved. One thing I honestly believe though is that Iraq needs to raise its folks up to a higher standard of living and get their country more stable from that standpoint. This is why the Kurds are doing so much better than the rest of the country.
  2. If my understanding is correct, or possibly just my speculation, would you rather carry around 1166 Dinar to do business or a single note of USD? Maybe it's just convenience. Not to mention a lack of faith in their own currency. Especially if the government tells the folks they have to quit using USD and start drawing it back in? JMO. HAHAHAHAHAHA! +1
  3. Not boring at all. I find much of this over my head, but I thank you for your input, comments and these articles. If I can learn a single thing from any information posted I'm thankful and hopefully a better educated individual. Finance and the markets are not my expertise. If I end up breaking even in this or even losing my rear end, I'm grateful for the education I've been able to pick up on many levels. Thanks again.
  4. It's posted in the "Rumors" section. That alone should be self explanatory and absolve TQueezy. Sheesh. Relax, sit back, and enjoy your day.
  5. I agree. I think we will all have electronic USD when cashing in anyway. It isn't going to be possible to just walk into a bank and exhange Dinar for hard cash imo. Especially given the sums involved even if it RVs at .10. (edited for spelling and punctuation. sheesh. I have fat fingers today)
  6. Hope this turns out to be true! I'm encouraged that the "Rumor" posts I've read lately are coming from folks like Hoosier & TQweezy. It lends credibility to the rumors to me as they aren't folks who have run around talking about their "sources" and "intel" for years. They post opinions, thoughts, and speculations just like the rest of us. Whether it turns out to be true or not doen't change my opinion of them or the posters here at DV. I feel they are sincere and aren't the types to decide one day to all of a sudden become a "Guru". Props to everyone here.
  7. The person who first turned my wife and I on into this speculation says he has met Blaino. I've always thought well of this person, and still do. Unfortunately, he is a Kool Aid drinker. I've never met any of these "gurus" so I can't speak to their intentions, motivations, or veracity. That being said, I think its all BS. Entertaining? Yes, when there are no good sit-coms on. As someone pointed out in another thread, I can't wait for this to all be over and then sit back and watch the self aggrandizing and slapping themselves on the back about how smart they were in providing "intel". I have "Intel" every day. It shows up on my computer when I log on. It says, "Powered By Intel".
  8. "Also, as you have been reading from certain posts ( OC Crush) many laws and events are lining up for the execution of currency revalue that we all have been waiting for." Reminds me of John McKay when he coached the Tampa Bay Bucs, "What do you think abouat your team's execution coach?". "I'm all for it". lol. Thank for the post Uneek. Entertaining. Made me smile.
  9. I feel like I just read a new edition of Firesign Theater.
  10. Agreed. We have an investment for sure, especially in the blood and sacrifices of our young men and women. And we can't ever minimize that ever, especially when comparing it to any typre of financial investment. Thank you for your reply and perspective. +1 to you as well.
  11. Not an Obama or Biden fan, but I still hold to my opinion that the USA is not in charge of any currency change in Iraq. Too many Americans invested in Dinar are for some reason under the impression the US is in charge of any RV. We are not. While we hold some political sway in Iraq, the financial markets, IMF, UN, and Iraq itself hold all the keys to what happens with their finances. In the end, no matter how much Dinar the US treasury may or may not hold, playing with currency runs a risk. There are examples in the past of countries who decide for whatever reason to snub their noses at their sponsor countries and do what they want. Don't get me wrong, I'm not down on my investment. I'm only saying that only Iraq controls the destiny of the Dinar.
  12. Thanks for the post Yota. But in hindsight I never should have taken that bong hit before trying to read and absorb this one. lol
  13. Interesting. I was not aware of the 2/23/13 borrowing status, but my lack of knowledge of it means nothing as I am not nearly as smart as 90% of the posters here. I will say, that if that date comes and goes, I wouldn't be surprised. My personal opinion is that no nation cares anymore about the old school rules and regs about borrowing versus balancing. The norm anymore seems to be "Who cares?". The world monetary policy to me seems to be either print more money to hold your value down to increase your exports, or go ahead and deficit spend and everyone will look the other way. It will be interesting to see how they deal with it.
  14. I got 9" of snow Sunday night/Monday morning. I KNOW I had my boots on the ground. And it can be proven.
  15. Just another blowhard politician wanting to hear himself talk imo. I have nothing against him, but these folks are obviously well trained by politicos everywhere. Say a bunch, but say nothing. As usual, thanks for the post Yota!
  16. Man, (and women lol), I spent an hour on Sunday listening to a guy talk about all the conspiracy stuff about why it hasn't RV'd, including that Obama and Biden have been removed from office and are just puppets waiting for the NWO and new US Constitution to take effect. Sorry, I don't buy any of this. While I'm sure the US still has influence on Iraq, I just don't buy into the whole "US controls everything in Iraq" theory. Especially when it comes to their economy and money. The US may hold some "leverage", but I don't for a moment buy into the US being in control of an RV, RD, LOP, or anything else. Frankly, in the last 4 years we continue to lose whatever leverage we had in influencing the country and outcomes, especially as we continue to de-fund security in Iraq. This is a country that will have to do it's own due diligence in getting out of Ch VII, solve the Kuwait & Kurd issues, and be free of UN oversight. Once that happens, then it will be truly sovereign and be in charge of its own destinay. The US can help, but the US can't dictate.
  17. Personally, I have 2 sides to this ride. One side is the side that reads nothing but news articles, does research, and tries to analyze what I perceive to be an "investment". The other side is the side that also likes to read the rumors if for no other reason than to keep my spirits up and also get that adrenaline rush of "What if?". I think I, like many, am attracted to "rumors" just like driving past an accident scene. I can't help myself. I have to read them. And who knows? Maybe someday a rumor will prove out to be true. That being said, I DO have a problem with the crazy pumper gurus who appear that, to be charitable, are just making stuff up to keep spirits up. On the other hand, there are a lot of folks who are desperate and want to believe these folks so badly they'll buy into anything the "gurus" say. I will say, I enjoy reading everyone's opinions and perspectives and am thankful for this forum to allow us to enter into discussions regardless of our individual biases. I know I'm a more educated person for everyone's opinions and perspectives.
  18. This is only my opinion. One is not connected with the other. It seems to me that everytime a "Guru" wants to try to sound smart to the Hale Bop followers they come up with some kind of corelation to current US economic issues. Okie says its' to make the Bush's rich, then it's **** Cheney who is controlling it, then it's the Dems or Repubs holding something up to make it happen, then it's Obama with a grand conspiracy to make Sharia Law work in the US. My personal opinion is that the holdup is due to the Queen, the Vatican, the Gettys, the Rothschilds, and Colonel Sanders before he went **** up. Everyone knows the Colonel puts a secret additive in his chicken that makes you crave it. Take it from me, because I'm crazy.
  19. Not to ruin everyone's holidays, but I'm starting to see how a 1:1 USD to Dinar will occur. The devaluation of the USD will bring it to the point of the current value of the Dinar. Then, to correct it, the Dinar will drop their zeroes and call it 1:1 to the USD. Tongue in cheek, folks. Tongue in cheek.
  20. RVPleaseToday - I respect your opinion. I don't agree with it, but respect it. I hope you are correct. But I tend to differentiate my spiritual faith into one catagory, and my economics into a different catagory. I prefer not to put any kind of materialistic or monetary infusion into my spriritual faith. I'm not saying you do, I'm just saying I keep the two separate in my life. God gave man/woman free will, so I have to assume that men/women are in charge of the economics of the world. And based on my experience of balance sheets I don't see a magical or divine intervention that suddenly makes the balance sheet equal to $3.46. But everyone has their own faith and interpretation on how things work so good luck to you and much peace. HAHAHAHAHA!
  21. It would be great if they did something. I don't think anyone would ever argue that. In my opinion, and opinion only it is, to RV at $3.46 they would have to LOP first. At 1:1? I can only hope. I'm not a lopster, but doing the math based on the "reported" amount of currency in circulation I just don't see how they could make the numbers work at $3.46 based on their economic situation. jmo. (Edited to clarify not woking at $3.46, not 1:1)
  22. One thing to keep in mind regarding the Iraqi economy is that since the sanctions have been in place against Iran, Iraq has emerged as the #2 OPEC oil producer behind the Saudis. An article this past week in the Wall Street Journal noted that at the most recent OPEC meeting there is disagreement between Saudi Arabia and Iraq regarding oil production quotas. While the OPEC nations want to reduce production to drive up the price, neither Saudia Arabia or Iraq want to be the ones whose production is reduced and the meeting was adjourned with no changes in production quotas. In my opinion, although there are a varying number of types of crude oil, the recent increase in North American oil production combined with lowering demand worldwide due to slow economies have got be having a huge effect on the Iraqi economy, their rebuilding efforts, and budget projections. Hopefully, if what we have assumed in the past still holds, inflation is one of the key triggers of any type of reval. I still think there are 100 things that need to fall into place and we are at about #75. That being said, maybe things are starting to move in a positive direction.
  23. I got into this as a speculative investment years ago. To me, it is still speculative. The articles are speculative. I don't mean to be a Spiro Agnew "Nattering nabob of negativity", but it seems like we see these types of articles around this time of year annually. If it turns into a LOP, I've actually lost less than investing in my 401k in the past. A LOP is not what I want, but if it does LOP, then I just continue to hold onto it until it gains in value. A LOP would be disappointing, but not an entire wash of the investment. Hope for the best, but whatever happens, I will just be glad that something happened instead of the status quo that has been dragging on. Interesting points by everyone. Good luck to us all, and good luck to the citizens of Iraq. They are the ones that truly need to have some positive action, news, and results. jmo.
  24. Relax all. Ths only means something will be happening "Soon" right after the next "Holiday".
