  1. Thanks for the post Ron! I've had an incredibly stressful 2 weeks as I found out our office will be closing in the next 1-5 years and I needed the laugh. This was truly a LOL moment for me. I can't wait for the "followup". Recaps has some classic material. +1 from me.
  2. Thanks for the article Yota! And there is the dreaded word "coming periods" again. lol. Regardless, it sounds like more preparation of the 1000:1 discussion to me. Thanks also for the article Knight. I'm not an economist, but that article leads me to believe that someone is fearful of trying to reduce the use of $. Frankly, as evidenced in Venezuela, devaluation leads to a run and increases inflation domestically. To me, the onlyway to reduce the dependence on $ is to increase the value of the Dinar. Maybe this incremental talk starting with 1000:1 is their way of weaning the populace off of the $.
  3. Just fired up a Camel filter and cracked a beer. lol.
  4. It sure seems like a lot of encouraging news lately as far as progress being made in agreements and some type of stability. They still have a long way to go, and all the violence and sectarianism (is that a word?) seems to always keep threattening their slow progress. But what the heck. I'll take anything anymore. The carrot at the end of the stick has been petrified in the last 5 years. lol.
  5. I agree. This doesn't make sense. But then again, we are talking about Iraq.
  6. This is a very encouraging article if it is true. I'm cautiously optimistic it could be true. Maliki doesn't have enough support to continue past his elected term date and maybe fears he can't even hold power until then. I don't trust him, but maybe he is making agreements to put himself in a position to try to stay in power past his term. We know that in the US politicians make deals all the time like this to either keep their power or extend it. Why would we expect Maliki to be any different? Regardless, this is a great find! Thanks rsskelton!
  7. Uh, this "100 LBS of Pot" is hypothetical, right? If not, I happen to have a bank account sitting idle and I might be able to assist you with your commodity exchange problem.
  8. Thanks for the posr sxsess. In regards to Currency Values and Budgets, I'd have to side on the overall picture of not just budgets being a factor, but the overall economic status as well. We can look to the current devaluation in Venezula as an example. They are in a position due to inflation and trade deficits versus their import excesses as having to take action. Of course, in their case, their budget is involved as well since it is a total nanny state essentially. Iraq's economy is still unstable. Hopefully, the budget process is part of the solution to some of their economic woes. Consequently, I feel it is all pieces of the pie. jmo.
  9. Mine think its a scam or not what its represented to be but are too afraid to say it to my face. lol.
  10. SteveI said it was fact, not Thug. I'm sure he knows what section he is in as well. BTW, the neg isn't fom me, I don't neg. Just wanted to defend Thug's honor since he's busy with his new/used camel.
  11. Well said. +1. Eventually, in terms of global currency values, my opinion is that every country is going to have to come to the realization that continued devaluation to keep trade and import/export ratios favorable is a house of cards that will soon fall. Essentially, Nixon did a similar type thing in the early 70's when he paniced when England demanded $300 billion in gold in exchange for $ and he took us off the gold standard and imposed wage & price freezes. While it temporarily reduced inflation and unemployment, by 1975 it backfired when the controls ended leading to the late 70's rampant inflation, interest rate increases, and unemployment.
  12. I just exchanged 1.9m IQD for a Troy Ounce of gold from China. So the rumor must be true. The Chinese will take Dinar for gold. :)/>
  13. "Geitner is gone!!! so yes i assume Jack lew will be making an announcement regarding the new USD also i believe Christine Galarde will either speak today or tomorrow regarding baskets of currency we have to wait to see what unfolds." Thanks for the clarification Easy! +1
  14. It's in the "Rumors" section. Not the "Facts" section. No one that I have seen is taking what TQ or Hoosiers is saying to the bank. Everyone in "Rumors" is just saying what they are hearing. Doesn't mean any of it id factual or will pan out. As an example, I heard a "rumor" today about things that are going to be happening at my job. Does it mean they will happen? I don't know. Do I bet my employment on it? No. But since this entire investment is "speculative", you have to expect "speculation" imo.
  15. Thanks TQ! That actually makes sense on the delay. It seems like articles point to an agreement with the Kurds, then the rug gets pulled out and they're back to the negotiating table. On the bright side, at least they seem to be past the stage like the US was during the Vietnam war where a year is spent arguing over the shape of the negotiation table, but just barely.
  16. It's only "Breaking News" if something unexpected occurs. Thanks for bringing the article Al!
  17. Sorry Easy, I ran a Google search and was unable to find anything on IMF Christine & Lew having any meeting or announcement today. The only references I could find were from pumper sites. Also, Lew hasn't been confirmed yet, but is still Obama's Chief of Staff based on my understanding. I'm not sure why a proposed Cabinet member or a chief of staff would be meeting and making announcements with the head of the IMF. IMHO this is unfortunatley more hype made up by TerryK and the rest.
  18. Good advice on how to search for articles. As far as this source (nesaranews)? My opinion is its just a pumper stretch of interpretaion trying to link legit articles together.
  19. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, I've been so hyped up over the Super Bowl and reading this thread that Silly Seaon has kicked in for me. lol.
  20. Sounds like it TQ. I've also noticed since he and Saleh got sacked there haven't been as many articles, interviews, & staements from the CBI. Things that make you go "Hmmmm".
  21. Hang in there Bro & thanks for the inspiration.
  22. I figure with that amount they can give every citizen a Mr. T starter set!
  23. Can this get any more confusing? This dude says "diminishing quantities of central bank reserves of gold does not affect the price of the local currency". Yet we have another article discussing how Iraq just imported $3T in gold.
