Dropit the IMF is part of the same familes who own the FED and various Central Banks. World Bank is no better. Oddly most of the people who run them and are now Heads of State seem to all have spent some time at Goldmen Sachs. Sad really.

This is strange, it is still dropping as is gold down 70 so far. What is so strange is that Bernanke is on TV testifying. When he speaks it goes the other direction! Bid is below 34 it has dropped 2.76!

Goldie sorry to hear, figures crossed they skip you. As for are they ready? I am confused why everyone thinks they are not. They have brought the banks up to speed technology wise, they use a ration card (electronic), they are having more of the citizens use bank accounts, they even have credit cards. Why would there be issues? Where there issues when they got rid of the Saddam notes? It went OK from what I read and they weren't nearly as up to speed as they are now. I believe that the logistics are done and the final i's are being dotted and the t's crossed. The only potential monkey wrench is the Iraqi list group. We will see. Nothing but good things here!

True, however when the currency was initially revalued it revalued high in June of 48. This was way before they had their infrastructure back. I am sure you heard the stories of how the shops overnight were "full". Well you can ask any German who was there the shopkeepers were hording goods at the cheap price and just waiting. They all knew it was coming but no one knew exactly when. Just my 2 cents worth from all the stories I heard as a child.

I grew up with similar stories. My parents and all of my relatives are right off the boat. I should have written a book from all their stories. When the currency changed it happened on a Friday they were given some money at the local mayors office on Saturday and the new currency started on Monday. That is why I looked for key things to be done in Iraq to know where we were at in the timeline. We are very very close.

GM, I am amazed that so many of us are in agreement on this!!!! Here is to a great week! Alex there are a few that believe they would wait until the end of March because of the summit, but I am in the with the budget camp. The numbers don't work to well at the artificial rate unless they do like last year and not go ahead with some capital projects. Thus they ended up with a surplus and not a deficit. This is from a trader 100% correct. Let us also not forget that the CBI just announced they could only charge a 10 dinar spread. Some places it was north of 100.
