  1. So.... the Aug.28/29 date makes sense ... Just before or during the start of Eid ....interesting timing for all of this to be taking place. Eid Al Fitr will be on August 31, says ICOP Abu Dhabi, Aug. 21st, 2011 (WAM) -- The Islamic Crescent Observation Project (ICOP) has said that Eid al-Fitr of this Hijri year 1432 will be on Wednesday, August 31st in most Muslim countries, considering that sighting of the moon is a condition for the beginning of the month of Shawwal. In most of the Muslim countries which started Ramadan on 1st of August will have their twenty-ninth Ramadan, on August 29th and on that day the moon sighting is impossible from all regions of the Islamic world due to moonset before or with sunset, such as North and Central Asia including the UAE, Qatar , Bahrain, Kuwait, northern and central Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Levant and North Africa. As for the rest of the Arab and Muslim world, the moon will be out in those areas after sunset, but the duration is too short that it does not allow to see the crescent by the eye or by using telescopes. As for countries that do not require the sighting of the crescent moon, Eid will be on Tuesday, August 30. http://www.zawya.com/story.cfm/sidWA...t_31_Says_ICOP Eid marks the end of Ramadan: Eid ul-Fitr, Eid al-Fitr, Id-ul-Fitr, or Id al-Fitr (Arabic: ‎عيد الفطر ‘Īdu l-Fiṭr), often abbreviated to Eid, is a three-day Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting (sawm). Eid is an Arabic word meaning "festivity," while Fiṭr means "original nature," implying the restoration of one's best human composition. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the thirty days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The first day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month Shawwal. Eid-ul-Fitr Salat (Namaz in Persian) is a Sunnah muak'kad (strongly recommended, just short of obligatory) or mandoob (preferable) – depending on which juristic opinion is followed – Islamic prayer consisting of two raka'ah (units)[1] which is generally offered in an open field or large hall called an Eed-gah. This salaat or prayer, can only be performed with Jama’at (i.e., in congregation) and has an additional extra six Takbirs (raising of the hands to the ears while saying Allahu Akbar (God is Great), three of them in the beginning of the first raka'ah and three of them just before ruku' in the second raka'ah in the Hanafi school.[2] Muslims are commanded by God in the Qur'an to complete their fast until the last day of Ramadan.[3]and pay the zakat fitrah before doing the prayer ied. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eid_ul-Fitr
  2. Was waiting on Reuters to pick this up - several reporting in on this so it's for sure I guess - just looks like fighting over control 49% - 50% http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/08/22/us-iraq-banks-stanchart-idUSTRE77L1X020110822 (Reuters) - Standard Chartered Plc (STAN.L) is in talks to buy a stake in Warka Bank, one of Iraq's biggest private banks, a central bank official said on Monday. Iraq's central bank has a three-stage plan for banks to increase their capital to $213 million by June 2013 to spur lending in the war-battered state as it emerges from the shadow of sanctions and the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. Hassan al-Haidari, a central bank advisor, said the London-based Standard Chartered had been in negotiations with Warka for the past 3-4 months.
  3. Yes, was a joke "goes in tight" can I say that here - sorry if anyone offended...
  4. Standard Chartered - with an ED http://www.standardchartered.com/home/en/index.html Lets hope Warka does not just cut us (shareholders) free and re-list under a new name after the merger/acquisition - it's still like the Wild West over there - they don't follow traditional rules - I have quite a few Warka shares (60% of my porfolio of all banks) - I wanted to sell and buy all HSBC backed Bank shares but could not because they (Warka) dropped off the ISX. I knew, like the currency, that this was a super high risk, so I'll take my hits. I did manage to get my shares out of the Warka Proxy 2 months ago and into my "good name" - not sure if that helps me or not? Good luck to all that went into the ISX - interesting times.
  5. Ha, funny you should ask, I'm surrounded by Germans. I only know one German word, "Guzentite" - people say it after you sneeze - but my German neighbor pointed out that it is actually the German word for "virgin" - go figure. And the plot thickens ...... thanks for tracking that down and sharing.
  6. No, she specifically said "a big change was coming Aug.28/29 and that is why we stopped selling" - point taken though, I guess we have one confirmed "big change" and another to follow - we hope. We have a lot of great information in this thread - especially from Sparky's phone call to Canada - great work people. At least we only have a week for this date to go Boom or Bust.
  7. Wow ... crazy story, and thanks for sharing ... sorry you got the run around and good for you for reporting them.... I'm not a conspiracy theorist but part of me wonders if they are just retaining what they have left for themselves ... since one agent thought the 'big change" is merely a week away - so she says...who knows really, but it's all sounding like a go. If you are looking to buy and you can get to Tampa, I just called and they are trading still.... need a sunny vacation ?? Kidding of course ...good luck ...I do hope you have some dinar for yourself though.
  8. I just called the Tampa Currency Exchange I was at 3 weeks ago: http://www.flcurrencyexchange.com/ They have a better buy back then they had in Canada 800 / Million ... and 1150 or 1100 Buy per Mil. Anyway ... good luck all
  9. Don't mess with Texas - makes sense they would hang on the longest ..... I was in Tampa 3 weeks ago - went to a huge Mall just off of I275 North - they had a currency exchange near the food court - they were still selling and buying - I might call them and see if they still do. Good work everybody - getting exciting again after a very long wait.
  10. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - yes , for sure - now that I look back. The Dong's a tricky subject to handle in written word and orally - the mind wanders into a strange groove as soon as the Dong makes it's entrance.
  11. Great Work Sparky - you're a better detective than I - intereresting you got the buy back info. - the other girl said nothing - although she never checked her screen - excellent job ...I like how she said new money coming shortly - we could be into the final stages here.
  12. Great, thanks !!! .. getting several "reasons" but bottom line it's gone, just 10 days (approx.) ago we could buy and sell - and just recently (last week) one girl from the Kitchener Branch said changes coming Aug.28/29 2011 - we'll see, who knows, could be something or it could be just the new money being released (as per my original post)
  13. Uhmm.. it's not a bank story it's a Continental Currency Exchange story - with hopefully a happy ending Aug 28/29 2011 http://www.continentalcurrency.ca/ It took me about 3.7 seconds to google it. Probably a lot less time than it took for those to complain about the validity of the source. Good luck. Yes, and if you read my post I qualified it with this comment: "You can call any CCE and confirm what I've posted - although, go easy, don't want to anger them" Read more: I can respect that - I guess we'll know by the "EVE" of the 30th if "ADAM" is correct
  14. Actually your post probably took more than the minute I suggested - you had to find a picture af a water "pump" - ingenious. If you read my posts prior I bought all of my IQD through a bank, not one through a dealer (I wanted date and time stamped teller receipts) and I would not sell any if you begged me. In closing, I'll hit you with my "H.A.N.D". - Have A Nice Day
  15. Call for yourself - They are open until 5 PM today - until 8 PM during the week - do you have 1 min. to spare and check - it's about the same amount of time you took to complain.
  16. Oh. I believe you, I just never asked, had no reason to. I will but a few million after the IQD is done doing whatever it is it's doing - say that 10 times. Yes, I agree ...arghhhh - let's hope a Registered Currency Exchange gets it right - no one else has yet. Great story - judging by his end comment, part of me is wondering if he was hoping you threw up your hands and said "just take it" - he probably was hoping you were an uninformed bumbling idiot - instead you were the opposite, a well informed holder of IQD - WITH RECEIPTS - GOOD FOR YOU.
  17. You're allowed to call Canada from anywhere in the world LOL - just google the exchange and the numbers pop up - they are open until 5pm today - the one's in malls. There are almost 20 of them in Ontario/Canada . The Dong ? was not aware they even carried the Dong - that one's a stretch for me - maybe in 5 -10 years - IQD is about to pop now in my opinion.
  18. ketchup, catch up ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - yes, although, I've heard and seen it all I think - I bought mine in Hawaii 5+years ago - a guy in my complex that flew an Appache in and out of Iraq/Kuwait suggested I buy - the rest is history....
  19. Thanks All... I bring no fiction ... You can call any CCE and confirm what I've posted - although, go easy, don't want to anger them. I have purchased from CCE in the past at $1100/million approx. - so they did sell, that's 100% fact - and they bought back at a dismal $630/mil. - but who's selling, right?? Stay in holding pattern - I think we are almost there. I bought all my IQD at a bank over the years, and then CCE later on in the game I'm in the ISX too, glad to see Warka making a comeback - my portfolio was going in the toilet with them not trading - maybe Standard Chartered Bank will revive them soon.
  20. This is not A rumour ... a senior TD Bank Manager in Canada (that owns Dinar) but is unable to buy Dinar via her Bank was purchasing IQD from Continental Currency Exchange (Canada) - she noted on Fri. they have officially stopped buying and selling (although I think it's been about 10 days total) - when asked why, the agent at CCE stated that big changes were coming to the IQD on Aug.28/29 2011 - I just called CCE 10 minutes ago and am now getting a new excuse - she said the Gov. just restricted the currency (not sure if ours or theirs)? Take this how you want to; RV/RI or simply that the new currency is about to make it's appearance. I'm new here (although not new to the IQD - 5 years and counting) - Good luck to all - this may be our final week of waiting. Heinzy
