  1. I am also a Dallas Cowboys fan. However, on this site, I am probably the only person pulling for the Seattle Seahawks to win.
  2. Veteran Day is one of the very few holidays my husband truly enjoyed celebrating. He served two (2) tours in Vietnam and discharged from the military honorably. He kept close contact with many of his fellow warriors he served with, until his death (November 18, 2010). He had very few prayers he prayed for on a daily basis; the most requested prayer he prayed for was...world peace, fewer and eventually "NO" more war(s), where young men and women die and are injured. He always closed him prayer with. . ."war is not likeable or pretty. . . He expressed many time that Veteran Day reminded him of six (6) things; (1) how much he "LOVED" his country, (2) the love and respect he had for the personnel he served with, (3) the bullet he received in combat in Vietnam and subsequently died with, his hatred for the Army, Veterans Administration and war protestors. I (his wife) was a war protestor. We were married thirty-nine (39) years, nine (9) months and one (1) day, until his death. He celebrated Veteran Day with only an active or non-active veteran(s), with beer and bar b-q without fail. My husband's core belief was that no warrior should never be forgotten. He had many veterans associates and friends who were homeless, alcohol/drug additive, mentally and physically challenged, which he shared his time and money. My husband's further belief was. . ."unless you have served in a war(s) and walked in a warrior's shoe(s), no one should judge a warrior's reason(s) for his/her homelessness, addictions and or mental challenges. My daughter and I now celebrate Veteran Day at Veterans Memorial Cemetery, with beer and bar-b-q in his honor and ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE SERVED AND ARE SERVING.
  3. I do not know whether or not you are a "Conservative", if you are, you are one of a less than five(5) Conservatives, that I (Progressive) have ever agreed with.
  4. I have no idea of what your political persuasion is, but that does not matter. As a proud and professed Progressive/Democrat and if I understand you “correctly”, I do like how you think.
  5. “I totally agree with, “He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone”. It is not going to happen, and I say that as a proud Progressive/Democrat. However, I wish the Republican/Tea Party would try. An attempt of this type by the Republican/Tea Party, will make it so much better for the Democrats, especially, the “Tea Party” element.
  6. Thank you. Very pleased, also to hear from you. I was sincere, when I expressed the enjoyable banter ideologies.
  7. The Constitution does not give the President/Congress/Supreme Court the right to pick and choose the law(s) he/she selects to follow. The President is following the law. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is law. There was no “special” dispensation(s) made for the President and or The Affordable Care Act (ACA). The ACA was voted on by Congress and passed, vetted by the Supreme Court and validated by the American people during the 2012 election. You ask, who gives the President the right to exempt anyone from the law(s), and my response is there was no exemption(s). The ACA is law. You further ask … Isn't the highest priority of the President to UPHOLD the law and aren't we a nation of LAWS and not men…, and my steadfast response is yes! Moreover, the President is “upholding” the law, because we are a nation of laws. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a law.
  8. 04 October 2013 Senior Member with respect: I am satisfied with the Supreme Court ruling and with the role of the House of Representative as it pertains to the Constitution. As I recall, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was voted on by the people of the United States, because that is what the President ran on during his re-election campaign. The American people re-elected him by a wide margin, electoral and popular vote. The ACA is the law of the land and is already funded. If, this is not true, why weren’t the personnel working for ACA furloughed or affected by the shut-down? To my knowledge they were not affected. They are presently and continuing to enroll people in the ACA. In my opinion, as I follow the shutdown events, the shutdown was about ACA (aka Obamacare) and not about the people’s business of passing the budget. Moreover, your position or point of dispute is that the President and Senate was demanding that ACA be funded is not valid. Further, my comprehension is that the President and Senate would not allow the President “signature” program to be adulterated, given that this issue has been vetted by the Supreme Court and the American people. The Republicans/Tea Party (emphasis on Tea Party) did not like this, so Republicans/Tea Party decided, well we will punish the President and Senate by shutting down the government and make the American people “pay”. Alternatively, your expression … Intimidation should be resisted in the branches overreaching their authority to keep the balance of power that was foreseen in the design of our constitution… has merit. Finally, the inability of Republicans/Tea Party (emphasis on Tea Party) supporters to recognize the limits of the fringe group in the House’s power(s) is attributed to the ultra-conservative media manipulating and distorting event(s), truth and swaying negatively the face of real facts.
  9. I adamantly and resolutely agree with you, that the responsibility of the “shutdown” of the U.S. government was a creation and or idea(s) of Republican/Tea Party. I and the majority of the American public share the same opinion, that this is a Republican/Tea Party disaster for our country. It was horrendous to watch on television a U.S. Representation (Republican/TX) blaming and admonishing a Park Ranger for not allowing the public into a park. What truly makes this incident between this park ranger and U.S. Representative atrocious, was that "he" said, “she” should be ashamed that people were not be allowed in. This public servant probably makes an annual income of under $25,000, she absolutely have no power and was doing what she was told.
  10. With even more respect sir, I sincerely enjoy the respectfully banter of “ideology” with you. Moreover, you also have the right to be conservative as you like. Thank you for the kind words you said about my late husband. I respect your rights, but my opinion also still stand. I disagree strongly with you, that this administration has flagrantly violated the constitution of this country. However, I can agree with you that Washington, D.C. corruption is shared by both parties. I never ask myself “WHY”, the “birthing issue has not gone away”, in my opinion, it’s not. The extremist-conservative Republican/Tea Party will always believe this “nonsense” to be true, with an emphasis on “Tea Party”. I am an active member of a very large, well known sorority, the majority of my sorority membership is Republican upwardly mobile women in large corporations and businesses, don’t share this Tea Party “birthing” view(s). Respectfully
  11. Thank you “dinar_stud”! You are a person that know “current” events and history.
  12. Where was all this concern for veterans, when the REPUBLICAN/TEA PARTY shut down the U.S. government? This is not only my opinion, but over 70% of America thinks the blame belong to the REPUBLICAN/TEA PARTY. I watched on television the appalling display of concern by the REPUBLICAN/TEA PARTY, for those WWII veterans trying to get in to see the memorial erected in their honor. Moreover, a “shut down” situation created by REPUBLICAN/TEA PARTY. I care about and what happens to veterans. I am the widow of a Vietnam era veteran, who served two (2) tours and died in 2010 with the bullet he received in that awful war still in him. He loved his country, other military personnel he served with, hated the Army and the Veterans Administration. He championed many Veterans causes with his time and money. His closest friend in the world was a Veteran he served in Vietnam with, who lives under a bridge and has lived there, since being honorably discharged from military service. My husband who was a veteran, did not care much for REPUBLICANS, even less for Democrats (I am Progressive/Democrat), only tolerated the Libertarians because of their strong 2nd Amendment position. His political persuasion was “one man, one vote” period. A lot of the services being affected by this irresponsible political “shutdown” are used by many veterans, active-duty personnel and their families. I know and have known many military families that regard these various services as “life-lines”.
  13. The “poison” that you spew is total B_S and lies. However, I am a proud Progressive/Democrat, with a “bad reputation, more negatives than the night sky has stars” on this site, have good healthcare for over forty (40) years, the widow of an active duty Vietnam veteran that lead a comfortable life (not rich). I say that to say this, there more Americans in this country who cannot get healthcare. These Americans work every day, trying to take care of their families. The “pre-existing” condition is a bigger factor than is reported, even by Americans with insurance.
  14. Your post was extremely well expressed. I am a true believer that ALL religions have something good to offer. Further, that religions are define by the good and bad people that follow them.
  15. Your ugly words about the "eradication" of a whole group of people, in my opinion, make "Christianity" sound more satanic than "radical" Islam. The God and Jesus Christ I know, do not adhere to this type of vial thinking. My God and Jesus Christ, give you a choice to come to him, and in my opinion, most choose to come to him.
  16. I must agree with you, I am not clear “why”, I agree. My knowledge of the word “spinster” is a woman who has not formed a human relationship, by the time she has approached or reached menopause, and/or is at the end of her reproductive cycle. Moreover, is he talking about himself needing a dictionary? I am just asking.
  17. I disagree, the drunk driver wins. He walked away with his life. My sister and cousin was killed by a drunk driver. The drunk driver hit them head on, killing my sister and cousin instantly and the car eventually caught fire. My sister and cousin was identified by their dental records. The drunk driver received 30 years and the possibility for parole. The drunk driver received a "minor" cut on his nose.
  18. Where do you people get this "STUFF". However, if you are a Republican, TEA-Party, hate everything and everybody, you are God's "special" chosen one.
  19. I applaud your facts! However, you must remember in my opinion, that this site in is “Tea Party” and NON-science based Republicans.
  20. Thank you, for your very uplifting comment. Moreover, being a Progressive/Democrat, widow, and African-American, I was please someone else, other than myself found this comment offensive, racist and demeaning. I have heard so many of these type comments before on this forum and dig deep to try and ignore them. Yet, somehow your “response” moved me. As I have stated before, on this forum, my daughter and her husband are “Republicans” and my late husband did not care for any political party, just his “vote". Many of my sorority ‘sisters” and friends are Republicans, and of course Democrats, and as far as I know we agree and disagree on my politics and not on my race. In addition, my late husband worked for USAID (United States Agency for International Development) for thirty years and we lived in many different parts of the world. I worked, as a, mathematics teacher for many international schools during that period, and it taught me the “meaning” of what “being” an American “is”. Even under a Republican administration during that period of times, I usually disagreed with the political party in office and the President was not the one I voted for. However, he was my President and I vehemently defended his politically office and politics, because I am an American ”FIRST” and the United States is “my” country. In addition, all Americans, black, white and everything in between, native or naturalized, legal or illegal immigrate, who loved this country, as I do, are my “people”.
  21. I rarely, if ever, commit on "religion", but I truly appriciate your statement. I believe that if you abide by the "golden rules", which is basically the same in all religions, that you are one of God's people.
