I HAD A DREAM !!!!!
FlintNPebbles replied to larrylo's topic in Opinions, Perspectives, and Your Two Cents on the Iraqi Dinar
I have had mixed emotions regarding dreams or "voices" and actually telling someone. I had a loud insistent voice (who sounded like my father, who is deceased) keep repeating 200 days to me. I was asleep but did wake up after hearing 200 days over and over. I wasn't dreaming about anything in particular and I don't know if 200 days is good news or bad news coming. But that 200 days is up on November 13...which happens to be a Thursday. -
Congratulations!! :) I can hardly wait for my first grandchild (who happens to be a grandson) to be born in April.

This is What School Lunch Looks Like in Chickasha, Oklahoma
FlintNPebbles replied to pluMmet's topic in Off Topic posts
wow...I better take a look at what our school puts on the menu. Although my hs daughter eats like a horse and will buy the entree and then there is always sides that she can add. If her meal looked like this I know that she would have told me long ago. She runs xcountry after school...she wouldn't be able to go far on that. And although the lunch complies with the regulations it doesn't mean that that is what the regulation stipulates that they must feed. For example, I am aware that it states protein and vegetable must be provided along with dairy. Well that meal does comply but that doesn't mean that meal is what they have to serve. This decision is entirely up to the school district. -
I know I am going to get negged but what equates homosexuality with pedophile? I am a hetrosexual woman. I do not find young boys attractive to me in a sexual way. Why would a homosexual person find someone of the same sex attractive in that way if that said person was a child? Pedophilia is not a homosexual entity or hetrosexual entity. Pedophiles can be man/girl, woman/boy, man/boy, woman/girl. It's sick. I also have friends who are homosexual and yes I would trust my young son with them about as much as I would trust him with a man who is hetrosexual. That being said...I don't trust any man completely with my son or any adult really with my children. I do not agree with the homosexual lifestyle in any way but that does not mean I do not love and care about my friends and understand that they are members of society who have a lot to offer.

Missing LA woman found abandoned in Maine
FlintNPebbles replied to Markinsa's topic in Off Topic posts
wow...that is scary what happens when someone doesn't have family or close friends to help keep an eye on them. Poor lady but at least she is some where she is being "cared" for. Don't have much love for assisted living facilities but imagine that most do the best they can. -

Abadi has refused to accept the mistakes of al-Maliki

I think it was a stategic move to keep an eye on him while they figured out what he had and had not done. The saying about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer -

I grew up Nazarene (still am Nazarene ) and although times have changed and things have become more relaxed, when I was a young girl we were not allowed to wear pants (at least to church), our shoulders had to be covered, no dancing allowed and no movies. Plenty of other things also but those were the ones that really stick in my mind. Now when I go to church I will wear dress pants but cannot make myself wear jeans and I cringe when I see young people with jeans on...or worse, jeans with holes in them. My kids wear dress clothes except when they are going on a youth group outing. I allow my children to go to dances ( I stress over and over to "leave room for Jesus" ) and they go to movies that I deem appropriate. My daughter is 15 and will tell me almost daily how some girls in school dress and how tacky it looks. And NO way would I ever wear a burka or completely cover up. I am to hot all the time...summer makes me crabby...can't imagine what I would be like having to cover up all but my eyes

Walmart forces workers to pay for new uniforms
FlintNPebbles replied to umbertino's topic in Off Topic posts
I was working for a farm supply store and were required to wear a polo shirt. However, the shirt had their logo on it and we were provided 2 free shirts when we started. Any shirts after that were required to be purchased. Didn't matter if you worked there 1 month or 10 years, you only got the initial 2 shirts free. They did also allow employees to wear a vest with the logo on it at no cost. The vest did not belong to the employee and had to be left at work. We did not have a requirement for pants. Most everyone wore jeans on a daily basis. This company has been expanding and the owner travels all over in a helicopter. Wages were not good but not bad either. No one complained about having to purchase a shirt after the initial 2. Walmart workers seem to have gotten caught up in the "I need things for free" wave that has been going around. Not all employees of Walmart are on food stamps and assistance. I know quite a few personally and they started out on the lower wage end but as they became valued employee's their wages and their hours increased. Seems like the ones who complain are the ones that I find at my local store who run and hide when you ask them where to find something. -

I saw the notice yesterday and left the site without clicking through. When I came on today it did not appear. I am using Google Chrome. Don't know it that helps -
Okay, my husband knows the Maywood fire chief personally and there is definitely more to the story than the media is telling. The media is making this into an anti American issue and that is just not so. It all started with an inappropriate sticker put on another ff's locker by a few other ff's. That sticker was offensive and rude. The chief advised them that that was inappropriate and it was being removed. That started a "war" and it then escalated to the new rule of NO stickers of any kind on the lockers or fire department gear. Yes, an exception could have been made for the American Flag, however, after being married to a Firefighter for many years I understand how most of those guys push the limits and it becomes a childish game to see what they can get by with. The chief could have handled it better but didn't. He is a good guy caught in a situation that was mishandled by all parties. And of course, the firefighters would were suspended were playing the game of "I can do what I want" and they called the media rather than sitting down with the chief and talking. If they would have done that rather than demanding that what they wanted be allowed, the situation would be different at this point. RVWITHME....but then my hubby would be the one to cover the Maywood dept

Perhaps, but he also did not have an alleged broken eye socket making marksmanship a little tough. I don't have all the facts so I inserted the word alleged. It's hard to hit your mark with an eye injury.

Huckabee could have been describing North Dakota when I was a kid. Of course the person who was cooking me grits and green fried tomatoes was a transplant from the Oklahoma A few other things are distinctly south because of geography, but the saying hi to a stranger, cleaning your rifle, feeding your neighbor...all were ND when I grew up. Good ol' country boys are everywhere but you don't find them much in the populated cities that is for sure!

Black Man Goes on EPIC Rant Against Ferguson Rioters
FlintNPebbles replied to Bumper64's topic in Off Topic posts
How are we certain that Brown was a victim of excessive police brutality? He may have had his hands up indicating that he was "surrendering" but he was walking towards the officer. That has been indicated by eye witnesses. If the victim was truly surrendering he would have stood still with his hands up and when the officer dictated that he go to his knees he would not have continued walking towards the officer. I do not believe in excessive force, however, we do not know for sure what happened in that squad car with the first altercation. His friend says Brown did not try to take the officers gun. Hmmmmm, that is his friend and they are talking about a police officer. I know what little regard they have for police officers. Do you not think he would lie?? Again, it's a terrible tragedy...for both the victim and the officer. The looting and rioting, that is not fixing the situation and only makes the protesters of Ferguson look like criminals who are really only interested in getting what they can from the situation. -
Indy....I tend to agree with you. With Maliki and his self serving leadership out of the way and replaced with someone who wants to move Iraq forward, I believe we are in a much better position to actually see a value increase. But as important as that is to me, I believe Iraq having a stable government will need to be accomplished before any increase can happen.

Great news if accurate. Will have to wait and see what else is reported.

But they would not be millionaires. They would simply have more purchasing power. They are not exchanging their dinars to become anything. They would be able to afford more things but then goods and services will also adjust to the new dinar value. It's not you blitzer....but it is one of my pet peeves that speculators will say "millionaires" when it comes to Iraqi citizens. They just end up with a better value for their money....they are not going to be putting millions in the bank and no one wanting to work. At least not for many years....then they may become like Kuwait....but not anytime soon even with a revaluation of their currency.
