Matt330, Regardless of what the rate will be on the Dinar. Iraq is not cashing in our currency. It is going to be ultimatly after the banks the US Treasury! The treasury is going to hold our Dinar in OUR USA reserves untill a convenient time to trade them back to Iraq. So if we get $1 USD = 1 Dinar, the US Treasury will probably hold our Dinar untill the exchange rate reaches $3 USD = 1 Dinar. Wouldn't you do the same?

Since the land was forcibly taken from the people by the Baath Party all those years ago. I wonder who gets the mineral rights now. There probably were not any oil and gas contracts or mineral rights back then. But I gaurantee that there sure is now. So the settlement gives the people a worthless peice of land now and maybe $20,000 USD. These poor people get screwed again!!

Kurdistan is also exporting oil " off the record " 1/2 again as much on the black market as they are reporting to Baghdad. They transport across the borders by tanker trucks. Maybe if the Kurds reported honestly and met their productions quotas that they agreed to.The political crisis would be over.

Truly amazing how nothing effects the Dinar rate. Not the US troop withdrawl. Not suicide bombings. Not political crisis.

Gregp, Thats' how I read it too. The economist said " Inflation will fall In the coming period as a result of the Iraqi Dinar Exchange rate" She seems to be implying that there is going to be a change in the exchange rate. DV's what your take?
