  1. OK - gotta jump in here because I was a Radio/Telephone Operator (RTO) in the Artillery for 2 years when I first came into the military (1984 - 1986) still in the National Guard (27 years) and have always been on the radio. Improper use of military PROWORDS (words used on a regular basis while conducting radio operations) has always been one of my pet peeves. Here is a link to the current US Army Field Manual task "Perform Voice Communications" (approved for public release) http://www.armystudyguide.com/content/SMCT_CTT_Tasks/Skill_Level_1/1135711022-sl1-perform-vo.shtml According to these standards - OK - so "Over" means "This is the end of my transmission to you and a response is necessary. Go ahead; transmit." "Out" means "This is the end of my transmission to you and no answer is required or expected. (Since OVER and OUT have opposite meanings, they are never used together.) " I SAY AGAIN - Since OVER and OUT have opposite meanings, they are never used together. Ahh- well - got that out of my system - now I feel better....
  2. Ummm...Pastel porker promulgates a plethora of pleasant practical platitudes! Priceless pearls of porcine philosophy. (OK - so I had to stretch it again with "philosophy")
  3. ahhhahhh - - the perpetually positive pink piggy perpetuates practically perky psychological patterns (OK - Psychological was a stretch...)
  4. I was there during OIF III - Nov 04 to Nov 05 as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant with the National Gaurd. Started in Baqubah (FOB Gabe) for the first elections for the first couple months, then was moved norh to Kirkuk. Brought some Dinar home then - and have purchased some since. Have people I work with who have just come back and still keep in touch with a couple of our "terps" who still have family there. Gotta admit - kinda of feel like I have something vested in Iraq - something other than my money. Anyone else who's been there feel that way? Another KRAB dweller!!! I was actually in one of the "safe houses" in the city to start with. We closed it down and moved onto the KRAB in June '05.
  5. "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." Honestly - you can't "impeach" the presidents bank accounts. Article II of the United States Constitution (Section 4) states "The President, Vice President, and all civil Officers of the United States shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other High Crimes and Misdemeanors."
  6. What I love is that "Obama's impeachment is inevitable." Now don't get me wrong - I feel his policies and leadership are abject failures, - but has he done anything illegal? Impeachment can only be done when their is proof of "high crimes and misdemeanors." As far as I know, partisan discord isn't grounds for impeachment. Has he abused his power? Fine line on that one I think. Ethically - I believe so. Legally - not so sure. Not that impeachment is all that big a thing anyways - didn't seem to hurt Clinton that much. Of course he was only impeached by the House and acquitted by the Senate. OH...and since we're going to want a link http://www.infoplease.com/spot/impeach.html
  7. “You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.” Adrain Rogers "Nuff said" Stan Lee
  8. Thanks Adam - just watching and waiting. As Phoenix333 said last night - another day closer.
  9. Ok 11B - gonna go mostly with you on this one. Still have a small percentage of me hoping something BIG will happen - so gonna pull a Dr Zuess quote - "Will you succeed? Yes you will indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)" Oh, the Places You'll Go (1990)
  10. "Dinar Fever - Gotta boogie down! Dinar Fever - I think it's going around!" My apologies to the Sylvers
  11. I've already used this today - but think it applies her too “No matter where or what, there are makers, takers, and fakers.” Robet Heinlein 'Nuff said. " Stan Lee (no Okie)

  13. Might need some help here, since international law is not my forte', but I don't believe this would fit under the Internatinal Court of Justice's definition of a contentious case (adversarial proceedings seeking to settle a dispute), so not sure how jurisdiction would apply here. The Court has historically refrained from hearing cases that are political in nature, due in part to its lack of enforcement mechanism and its lack of compulsory jurisdiction. The only enforcement it has i sto take the issue before the UN Security Council for enforcement action. One obvious problem with this. If the judgment is against one of the permanent five members of the Security Council, of which the US is one, any resolution on enforcement would most likely be be vetoed, since it only takes 1 vote of those 5 who have veto authority. Just don't see the World Court as a factor here, IMO..
  14. You say LEG like it's a bad thing!!! *lol* Well I was Leg for 6 years...11C but still leg...you dirtdart!!! *lol* Of course I was also a Red Leg for 6 years...and when it comes down to it...combat arms is combat arms. I'd cover your a$$ in a fighting position just as well as I know you'd cover mine - and now that your in the Med field - if I ever need something done in a lead lined room - you're my man. You've shown level headedness, abitlity to focus, and a cool demeanor (This will be reflected in your OER/NCOER *lol*) Got your 6 it you ever need it man.
  15. It's pronoounced "BAY nor" as in Speaker John Boehner.... How quickly we descend into the gutter...
  16. I have 27 years of service under my belt so far - and I can definitively sat that there is no way for a soldier to buy out his contract. No matter how much money a soldier may have, he is going to complete his term of service, or be charged uner the Unified Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). I have heard ths rumor before, and asked our Judge Advocate General (JA)G personnel about it. they said there is nothing in the system that allows a soldier to exchange cash for the remainder of your service time. However, if for some reason you are released before you contract is up - discharged under less than honerable for some reason, you have to pay back any bonuses you may have gotten.
  17. Just a little history about the term "Pogey Bait" - and it's a military thing. There are 2 schools of thought on this term - the first is the Marines in China before WW II were issued candy (Baby Ruths, Tootsie Rolls, etc.) as part of their their ration supplements. At the time, sugar and other assorted sweets were rare commodities in China and much in demand by the Chinese, so the troops found the candy useful for barter in town. The Chinese word for prostitute, roughly translated, is "pogey". Thus, Marines being Marines, candy became "Pogey Bait". The other is more modern in meaning. The terM comes from the word Poge (Person Other than Grunt) which is used by military personnel to describe someone who is not infantry such as administration, clerical or supply. In the Marine Corps it is used to describe anyone not having an MOS (Military Occupation Specialty) of 03**. Example: 0311 is basic infantry. Pogey Bait is anything that does not fall under the typical field rations and used to describe something store bought. The term is used to suggest that store bought food, usually high calorie junk food, might be used to lure Poges (admin or clerical personnel) away from their desk jobs and out into the field. And of course to answer everyone who will want to know - yes I have a link... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pogey%20bait
  18. Hope! It sounds like Hope to me! Thanks for sharing.
  19. Noah on the Ark sang it this way "Hippos birdies 2 ewes, Hippos birdies 2 ewes..."
  20. I think you have the answer. Any inventory they have simply becomes a liability because sales will drop, and they cannot legally exchange them for personal gain.
  21. Iraq should have switched over to it - I know Saudi Arabia has.
  22. Every device that connects to the internet uses a unique address called an IP address, which works very similar to a home/location address. Pieces of data, called “packets”, are transferred via the internet between machines, which in turn gives us the fully functioning interior workings of the online community. In order for two machines, or devices to communicate via the internet, they must transfer these “packets” of data back and forth. Unfortunately the data “packets” can not be transferred if the devices do not each have their own unique address. IPv4 is of the older, more supported version of the internet address procedure. But, there are no longer any free IPv4 addresses, meaning all of them have been occupied or taken up. IPv6, is the latest Internet Protocol or address procedure. The older IPv4 only supports a maximum 32 bit internet address, which translates to 2^32 IP addresses available for assignment (about 4.29 billion total). IPv6 utilizes 128 bit web addresses, allowing a maximum 2^128 available addresses: 340,282,366,920,938,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. So basically the IPv4 protocol has run out of available addresses which is why most websites or internet servers are adopting the newer IPv6 protocol. It is alos more secure, allows for more ability for remote login/control, and other things that only us geeks care about. *lol* BTW - been a computer tech for over 20 years...
  23. Not really buying - but I will be getting a good accountant and tax lawyer....
  24. I'll cover the left flank...to quote one of the many quotable quotes from my old Platooon Sergeant "Get ready to prepare to stand by - this looks like it could be a maybe..."
  25. One more reason I'm glad I live in MT - not saying I believe, but just in case...
