    The Finnish government has decided not to expand a limited trial in paying people a basic income, which has drawn much international interest.

    Currently 2,000 unemployed Finns are receiving a flat monthly payment of €560 (£490; $685) as basic income.

    "The eagerness of the government is evaporating. They rejected extra funding [for it]," said Olli Kangas, one of the experiment's designers.

    Some see basic income as a way to get unemployed people into temporary jobs.

    The argument is that, if paid universally, basic income would provide a guaranteed safety net. That would help to address insecurities associated with the "gig" economy, where workers do not have staff contracts.

    Supporters say basic income would boost mobility in the labour market as people would still have an income between jobs.

    Finland's two-year pilot scheme started in January 2017, making it the first European country to test an unconditional basic income. The 2,000 participants - all unemployed - were chosen randomly.

    But it will not be extended after this year, as the government is now examining other schemes for reforming the Finnish social security system.

    "I'm a little disappointed that the government decided not to expand it," said Prof Kangas, a researcher at the Social Insurance Institution (Kela), a Finnish government agency.

    Speaking to the BBC from Turku, he said the government had turned down Kela's request for €40-70m extra to fund basic income for a group of employed Finns, instead of limiting the experiment to 2,000 unemployed people.

    Well read that this will be a tax free event. lol well it would be a tax free event anyway, its not a darn event, by IRS tax code foreign currency is not considered an asset, therefore cannot be taxed on the capital gains tax, hence I dont think you report it as income " now the interest you make on the money that is taxable" ,  congress would have to pass a law and doubt that will happen before an rv is put into motion. now being from california and seeing how corrupt these dam politicians are out here, I would not put it past those bastergeez to hold an emergency  meeting and try and pass a state income law on taxes to take a slice, guess best bet is to keep fingers crossed this rvs this year and ride out the tax year. and if you are in a high income state would highly suggest you get the hell out to a no income tax state. I read this somewhere on the net that the poster had called the IRS to confirm it. so take it with a grain of salt.

    Hate to be a bubble burster - but I think you will be sadly mistaken.  A member here named ExecConsult - an estate attorney- did quite an in depth analysis of this a year or so ago.  This topic has been discussed quite a bit.  His basic conclusion is this is a taxable event and will be taxed as "ordinary income."  The same as if you bought a piano at an estate sale, then found a large sum of money in it years later. (Actual case - I can get it for you if you like).

    You can find find the discussion here....

    I agree.. I think he has bigger plans... I don't see him just retiring and growing tomatoes... LOL

    B/A

    If he does he's taking an immense pay cut -  finally an article that explains how members of Congress are actually paid their retirement!  SPOILER ALERT - THEY DON'T GET THEIR PAY FOR LIFE!!! (I get a bit tired of correcting people about this one on FaceBook all the time.)

    http://www.businessinsider.com/house-speaker-paul-ryan-retirement-decision-pension-2018-4

    Paul Ryan's decision to wait until January to retire includes an under-the-radar benefit

    In addition to preserving consistency in GOP leadership through the midterm elections, House Speaker Paul Ryan's decision to wait until the end of the term in January to retire could significantly affect his retirement benefits.

    Members of Congress elected after 1984 are enrolled in the Federal Employees Retirement System, which includes a basic monthly annuity, or pension, based on years of service and salary as a member. Representatives elected before 2003 have the option to decline the FERS enrollment, so it's possible that Ryan, who has been a congressman since 1999, could have turned down these benefits.

    Ryan, 48, would be able to draw his pension at age 50, since his time as a representative and as a staffer would combine to be roughly 24 years of federal service.

    If Ryan did enroll in FERS, the timing of his retirement could affect his benefits. If Ryan retires in January, he will have been speaker for just over three years — he took over for John Boehner on October 29, 2015 — and the annual payment to a retired member is determined in part by calculating the three highest-paying consecutive years of their career.

    In Ryan's case, retiring after October means he would have earned the speaker's salary of $223,500 for three consecutive years. If he were to retire immediately, however, his average would be reduced, as some of the so-called high-three salaries would include the $174,000 annual salary made as a representative.

    Based on the FERS payments formula, Ryan could receive an annual pension payment of $84,930 if he remains on the job until January. But if Ryan were to retire earlier, he would receive less, because some of the non-speaker's pay would be factored in.

    Of course, Ryan could also have other retirement savings from his time in the private sector or from the congressional Thrift Savings Plan, which functions like a 401(k).

    25 yrs in the Jewelry Industry, colored diamonds are just a gimmick to sell lesser quality diamonds. The clear and colorless will always bring higher value.

    Exactly.  Impure diamonds are all colored diamonds are. My wife is currently doing classes to get her GIA certification - her uncle is a diamond dealer here.  I hear about the 4C's more than I care to think about....*LOL*

    Gpu based mining is becoming unproductive.

    best move on, like I have to ASIC 16 NM equipped nodes.

    hint

    before the prices go through the roof like they did with gpu’s.

    currently running a combined hash rate of 3,000 MHz on lite coin.

    expect to recoup total hardware investment in 10 more day’s operation.

    then I will be in the Black!

    like everything else “this to shall pass”

    I know Monero and ETN are going to change their blockchain code so they are ASIC resistant. Has LiteCoin given any hint of that?

  6. Psalm 91 for those being persecuted -

    He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
    Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
    I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
    My God, in Him I will trust.”

    Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler[a]
    And from the perilous pestilence.
    He shall cover you with His feathers,
    And under His wings you shall take refuge;
    His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
    You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
    Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
    Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
    Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

    A thousand may fall at your side,
    And ten thousand at your right hand;
    But it shall not come near you.
    Only with your eyes shall you look,
    And see the reward of the wicked.

    Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
    Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
    10 No evil shall befall you,
    Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
    11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
    To keep you in all your ways.
    12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
    Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
    13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
    The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

    14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
    I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
    15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble;
    I will deliver him and honor him.
    16 With long life I will satisfy him,
    And show him My salvation.”

    How long have you been at this, incidentally?. been at this for about a little over a month. looks like some people in the private groups have received the 800 numbers, getting rumors, but I have done a lot of research and it looks like its going to pop, its just a matter of time. Plus I got some dong too. so hoping that will pay off too. Hell even if the dinar comes on the market at $3.71 that is still a darn good return on your money. I did not put too much in so im not tripping. I am going about life like I always do.

    I have held dinar since 2005.  I've been here (DV) for over 6 years.  I will tell you I believe there are no 800 numbers other than those the banks already have. The "special groups" the other sites talk about are either vapors induced by "hopium" or scams being run by some of the less scrupulous.

    as for rate of return...I'm going stay on the conservative side with Adam.  I expect initially $0.10 to $0.30. That's what my initial plans are kind of built around.  My own personal theory is that they will "delete the three zeros" - which to me means move the value by 3 decimal points.  So - since 1 IQD is currently $0.00084, applying this logic (or more correctly hoping I'm right) that would make 1 IQD worth $0.84.

    I don't personally see them coming out over 1:1 - if they do I will do my happy dance all the way to the bank.  If any of the other scenarios happen... which I believe are far more realistic...I will still do my happy dance, but only at home and will drive to the bank.  😛

    I wish I had bought when a friend told me about bitcoin 3 years ago... Of course if you don't cash out and take profits when things rise you never win... Right now, I'm waiting for bitcoin to drop under $1,000 before I consider buying.. It seems like a multi-level marketing scam... the first ones in make the money and the rest lose. you have to ask yourself, where did the multi-billions go?

    I personally don't believe you will see BTC go below 1,000.  In my estimation you might see around $3,500 but that's just a guess from a lot of the different analysis I've been seeing.

    I ran into “give or take “ numerous times when I was a co-owner of a construction business many moons ago living in England. Deadlines not met, costs kept rising, their dismissive attitude and the “ You didn’t understand “ speech. In the end, we just didn’t do business with them.

    If folks can’t grasp the business basics, everything else becomes impossible with this insufferable attitude.

    Thank you for your comment Shedagal   :tiphat:

    Does this sound familiar? " In Shallah..."

  10. Heavenly Father Almighty, God from Up Above. I pray for your forgiveness and understanding and for thy divine guidance, so that we may have peace, prosperity, good will, good health and good spirits. It is through thy divine guidance that good fortune may be bestowed upon us. It is not that we are greedy, it is so that we may not be needy. Heavenly Father Almighty, I pray for these gifts in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

    Heavenly Father, I offer you the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of your beloved Son our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for my sins and those of the whole world.
