  1. Global Politics, banking policies, corruption, three letter agencies, clowns, pink piggies, RIP Old Sarge, Hannah Montana's Dad.....Some awesome peeps and some not so nice....Cindy Loppers and a whole bunch of patience. ....and don't comment in Off Topics.....
  2. This article contributes to my loosing faith in the Iraqi government. They don't have a clue how to maintain their economy, and rather than rely on experts they interject their ignorance and create drama and further hurt their possibility of being an emerging economy.
  3. hmmm I think you chose UNEEK because she has stolen the show from Thug lately. Quite frankly, when I saw this post I had to rub my eyes a few times, seemed so uncharacteristic of you, so you had me for a few seconds.
  4. Thank you for the summary. Great article. Tells me someone is thinking.
  5. I listened to a radio interview with him this morning and he stated he rethought his original position and said he is not looking to take any guns away, however he is looking to require permits for particular types of guns which do not require a permit at this time. In addition he is looking to ban the sales of assault rifles and will grandfather those who currently own these rifles. It appears that he has been getting some pressure and is rethinking his position. Personally, I was glad to see him back down.
  6. Thank you! Nice.... Looks like a very busy news night and quite positive. A lot going on.
  7. Agree, the longer they sell cheap oil the longer they stay poor - So are they shuffling back and forth from one foot to another trying to make progress to the next step (*****-footing around) or at some point are they going to stop shuffling and just take a giant step? REVALUE
  8. It appears to me that Kurdistan put the pressure on by reducing it's oil export from 200,000 barrels a day to 5,000 in protest because of non payment to foreign companies, yet the government is not paying because they are not living up to their agreement. This is a prime example of what came first the chicken or the egg. So it appears they will be working on implementing the agreement. Can someone please clarify is the Erbil agreement the same as the HCL law? or a part of it? or completely different? Thanks in advance.
  9. Now this got a huge laugh out of me! So many of my FAV posters in off-topics are gone, too many negs, so don't get yourself in too much trouble. I second that!
  10. Thanks for sharing, yes this was a long read and I read fast. Interesting, is my comment. I started reading about this about a year ago and lost interest this past fall because I couldn't wrap my head around it. I still have a difficult time with idealism, although I have plenty of my own. To me until I see concrete changes in the systems I will remain a hopeful skeptic. I still log on to my banking web site and see the same balance as yesterday and owing the same to creditors for my homes, college loans and car and I get up in the morning and get in the car, pay for gas and go to work, knowing I am compromising my value to the world because I was born into this system. I didn't have a choice. Occasionally, I can put energy into a creative idea and it gets lost because tomorrow I still have to go to work and have no more time or energy to pursue what I am passionate about. I haven't discounted much, yet, even the dinar, but if this is true. I guess I am surely wasting my time here. :unsure:src="http://dinarvets.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif">
  11. Wow he is a very powerful and amazing man since he has died, he is dead and now he is getting well. If this is so difficult to report, we are in big trouble, because everything I have read in the Iraqi media I have now deemed rumor. We need one big rumor topic.
  12. The key to this article is stated in this paragraph .... however I can't translate bad English. Read more: http://dinarvets.com.../#ixzz2GU6wxlZs
  13. Yes I have, but not quite to this degree. You are very brave. I helped a young man, who spun out and did a 360 and hit a guard rail in a terrible ice storm. I was just a few miles from home and had driven 10 miles in declining weather conditions as I proceeded into higher elevations. The trees were crashing down into the highway ahead of me and behind me. It was a scary night, and I felt horrible for this kid, it was a bad night to be driving, but I waited with him until help arrived.
  14. So the question of the day - what is the difference between raising the zeros and lifting the zeros? and what are the benefits? hmmm I hope they raise the zeros from the exchange rate rather than lift the zeros from the currency.
  15. I am so sorry to hear of your health. I have a wonderful friend who is now cancer free - here is the link to her Doctor. My link Holistic is the best way to overcome this disease.
  16. Thanks Markinsa! I did pay and the box stayed - So I am enjoying the Christmas theme, perfect timing.
  17. Understood and appreciate, thanks for the link!
  18. I work for my money too, but I don't call myself a republican. We are the people who support this country, WE are the people, all of us, and WE who support this country need to be United and stop pointing fingers at the top and the bottom and at each other. WE need to understand the truth. It is the greed that is sinking our country. This is the condition we are in because this is the TRUTH.
  19. The serious problem to me is not that the ride is over, nor do we have a ways to go. My concern is if this new administration meddles in Central Banking there will be serious implications regarding the economy. I am no expert in Central Banking, however I did read enough to learn that monetary policies are one complicated set of guidelines that take experience and knowledge. This is not an exact science and one who runs a CBI must be nimble enough to hedge inflation. The government cannot skim off the reserves and expect to maintain balance in the economy. It does make sense however that they develop international banking policies. I do believe that Shabibi has the expertise and knowledge to improve the banking system, and carry out the necessary monetary and fiscal policies to improve the value of the dinar. Maybe this is a ruse to scare currency investors.
  20. I agree I think that Maliki is looking to milk the reserves. I think he has grand ideas with little knowledge and yes this will weaken the dinar. I think that the previous administration had a clear idea of what they were doing and were very methodical. I often felt that Shabbibi was being held up from moving forward because of Maliki and his Counsel. I really don't know what the outcome will be. but what I have in dinar safely tucked away is all I am going to purchase, this is looking a bit more risky than I anticipated. The tables are turning and the end result is uncertain, however I do believe that if pride prevails we have a chance to see a revaluation.
  21. Well, well, another article stating why Shabibi was removed - basically it is believed that the cash reserves should be used in investment projects and not only buying and selling through the auctions to create reserves. I do believe that international banking was a goal of the current administration, but I feel the method of getting there is one step at a time. So my guess from the statements above they are looking to change the policies of the previous administration. This is what one should expect from Maliki and points to mismanagement of the CBI, to use the reserves for his pet projects. Oh boy this ride is not over yet and I am not sure, but if Maliki gets his way, this may look good for us, but I am concerned this may be a mistake for the Iraqi economy.
  22. This is a very important article which clearly points out that Maliki clearly does not understand the function of the CBI. He seems to think this function is to support the government. He in fact points out that the CBI is not responsible for the monetary policy, but states the constitution stipulates the Council of Ministers performs this responsibility. Sadr basicially is stating this interference will collapse the economy. From all my studies of central banking and monetary policies I have to agree with Sadr, the Council of Ministers is not qualified in this profession to regulate the economy or the monetary policies. Iraq has a serious problem on their hands.
  23. I think I like this article! I vote revaluation. The quality of life for the average Iraqi citizen will not improve until they have more purchasing power. A revaluation will reduce the price of imports like commodities, food, and housing development. I just read an article where it was stated that Iraq imports 70% of their goods. If the foreign exchange rate changed it would change their current way of life for the better. I envision the Iraqi government would like their country to be competitive with their wealthy neighbors.
  24. I had some business in a rural area south of Sugar Land, so I decided to stay in Sugar Land and I love the area. Very beautiful homes and subdivisions, especially the homes on the man-made lakes, they had boat docks in their backyards! Being a Northerner I have to say it was very hot and humid. I couldn't imagine living in this area without a walk-in refrigerator. I thought the folks were very warn and friendly and if I had to live in TX and Austin wasn't an option I could like Sugar Land.
