If i"m not mistaken, the first thing I'm suppose to say is :
I have a concealed gun permit and I have a gun in my possession?
Maybe it would have defused the cop.

Though it may be a good idea to present your permit up front,
it is not required in the state of Florida to present your permit
unless the officer asks ("demands") the permit.
And as far as being "surprised," and being put on edge.
That officer was acting like a total idiot.
Florida has over 1 million permit holders.
He better get used to it.
Anyone can tell that the guy arrested,
was not threatening in any way.

Legal Gun Carrier Arrested For Carrying Gun

It’s good that there is a growing number of sheriffs and state sheriff associations around the country that are banding together in their opposition to the Obama administration’s gun-grabbing agenda. But there are still some cops out there that just don’t get it.
Recently, a Florida man was pulled over for having an expired tag. The cop’s dash cam video shows Joel Smith getting out of his van to give the cop his license. Deputy Alan Cox asks for his registration and proof of insurance, and as Smith turns his back to the cop to retrieve that information from his van, his legally owned concealed gun becomes barely visible in his back pocket.
I’ve seen the dash cam video a few times, and by the third time, I was finally able to make out a dark blur in his back, right pocket. Needless to say, it wasn’t obvious at all that he had a gun. And so what if it was obvious? But from that point on, the routine traffic stop descended into a confrontation with the cop screaming orders and expletives at the man to put his hands up and to get on the ground, face down with his hands behind his back.
When the cop first spotted the gun, he asked Smith, “Why do you carry a gun for?” Smith’s response was mostly inaudible, but he said something to the effect of, “I always carry a gun…I have a concealed carry permit.” A local news network reported on what ensued:
“Ten seconds later, he is being held at gunpoint. ‘Put your hands right up or I’ll shoot you in the f—— back,’ said Cox. Smith is legally licensed to carry a concealed weapon. ‘Get down on the f—— ground now,’ screamed Cox. Smith was arrested anyway charged with carrying a prohibited weapon openly.”
Deputy Cox blurted out that he didn’t care if he had a concealed carry permit. He could see the weapon, and that was a violation of the law. Actually, Florida state law was changed in 2011 to say the brief viewing of a gun in a non-threatening manner was not a violation of their concealed carry laws. For example, if a person is reaching for something in his vehicle, and his gun is exposed for half a second inadvertently, that would not be a violation of their concealed carry laws. Deputy Cox claimed that that half second was way too long, and that he felt threatened by the man who was calm and completely compliant.
And what kind of question is, “Why do you carry a gun for?” No, not just that the cop’s question ended with a preposition. I mean, why else would a person carry a gun but for self defense? Maybe Smith could have asked the cop the same question. Why does Cox get to not only carry a gun but point it right at the man and scream his head off like a mentally deranged individual with Tourette’s Syndrome? Oh, for personal defense? So, the taxpayers that write the cop’s paychecks aren’t afforded the same rights to self-defense as he is?
Thanks to the attention the dash cam video got on the internet, the state attorney decided not to prosecute the man, and the charges were dropped. The cop is now on “administrative leave pending an internal investigation,” which in cop-speak usually means paid vacation.

Wounded Warrior Project Rejects Funds from Local Church

Here's a story that will leave you scratching your head. A Christian church and affiliated school in Florida held a fundraising drive to help the Wounded Warrior Project. Children in the school were excited about the task, but later were crushed when the funds were turned down, because the organization is "religious in nature."
As reported by Todd Starnes at Fox Radio, the pastor of Liberty Baptist Church and Academy, Wallace Cooley, said that "they had already paid a $100 registration fee to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project and were about to launch the campaign when they received an email from the organization."
The church had planned on taking up a special offering on the last Sunday in February and students were collecting money from family and friends.
“We must decline the opportunity to be the beneficiary of your event due to our fundraising event criteria, which doesn’t allow community events to be religious in nature,” read an email from the WWP community events team. “Please note your registration fee will be refunded within the next 7-10 business days.”
WWP said as a nonpartisan organization they cannot accept event fundraising from companies “in which the product or message is religious in nature.”
Pastor Cooley said they were so shocked that the school secretary called Wounded Warrior to make sure there hadn’t been a mistake. He said a WWP representative assured her that “religious” was indeed on their banned list.
WPTV News Channel 5 reports that the school and parents are hoping "Wounded Warrior Project has a change of heart."
Katherine Johnson, the school's principal commented on the incident and said, " those men who are trying to fight for our freedom, now it feels like our freedoms are being taken away and we want them to realize the seriousness of what they are doing."
Barbie, the mother of Madision said, they sit there in school and say the pledge of allegiance and they sing God bless America and we teach them about freedom but, then what kind of freedom is it if we can't turn around and give to those who take their life and get injured."
According to the news story, Pastor Cooley "told NewsChannel Five that a representative from WWP called him.The representative apologized and said he would be meeting with other administrators from the organization to talk about this incident."
How does being "nonpartisan" have ANYTHING to do with accepting funds from a church group? Most nonprofits that get in trouble with the IRS do so because of what they DO with the funds... not where they come from. The Wounded Warrior Project does great work for out troops. But the organization and the rules governing nonprofit activities need a little common sense.

Couple Faces Jail Time for Saving Baby Deer’s Life

An Indiana couple is facing up to 60 days in jail and $2,000 in fines for saving a deer from death. Jeff Counceller, a police officer, and his wife Jennifer spotted an injured baby deer on their neighbor’s porch. Instead of turning a blind eye to the dying fawn, the Councellers took the deer in and nursed it back to health.
They kept the deer, Little Orphan Dani, in their backyard as it recovered. Everything was fine until an Indiana Conservation Officer spotted Little Orphan Dani in the Councellers’ yard. The Councellers were charged with unlawful possession of a deer, a misdemeanor offense.
The day that Little Orphan Dani was to be euthanized by the Conservation Agency, the deer inexplicably escaped into the wild. Although Little Orphan Dani was able to get away, the Councellers may not be so lucky.
Historically, crimes have two elements: (1) actus reus (bad act), and (2) mens rea (bad intent).
Most people would agree that nursing an animal back to health is not a “bad act” in the sense of being morally blameworthy. Keeping the deer is deemed to be a “bad act” only because the legislature has said it is prohibited. Do we as a society want to punish acts that are not inherently wrong with criminal penalties?
Was there a bad intent? Is intending to save an animal bad? Most people would say it is not. Jeff Counceller is a police officer. It is highly doubtful that he intended to flout the law. It is much more likely that he simply didn’t know that his conduct was prohibited, much less a criminal act. If an officer of the law does not know that his conduct is illegal, how can others expect to know it?
If the act itself is not bad, and the Councellers did not know that their action was illegal, what could society possibly gain by having people like the Councellers serve time in prison and get a criminal record?
Should you think that this is solely a problem in Indiana, you would be very much mistaken. Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. Others have been prosecuted for their efforts to help animals in need.
In an eerily similar case, 11-year-old Skylar Capo and her mother, who live in Virginia, were threatened with criminal charges and up to one year in prison for nursing a woodpecker back to health. In the Capos’ case, it was the federal government going after the do-gooders for violating the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Luckily for the Capos, the story gained national attention and the prosecution was dropped.
Robert Eldridge, a commercial fisherman from Massachusetts, was prosecuted for whale harassment by federal authorities under the Endangered Species Act and the Marine Mammal Protection Act, an offense punishable by up to one year in prison, for freeing a humpback whale from a fishing net.
What lesson do laws such as these teach? If you see an animal in distress, leave it to die? People inherently want to help people and animals that are in need. Sadly, overbroad laws such as these can turn good Samaritans into criminals.

DHS Raids Gun Collector –
Confiscates Nearly 1,500 Guns –
No Charges Filed
On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security, along with a SWAT team and Bernalillo County sheriff’s deputies raided the home of Robert Adams in Albuquerque, New Mexico and, according to a federal search warrant affidavit the raid seized nearly 1,500 firearms from the man’s home and business. However, no charges have been filed against him, despite the fact that court documents reveal that agents had been watching Adams for years.
By Wednesday afternoon dozens of rifles were hauled out of the house, bagged as evidence and laid out on the lawn.
According to search warrants that were filed on Thursday Homeland Security Investigations confiscated nearly 900 firearms from Adams’ home, 548 handguns and 317 rifles. They also seized 599 pistols and revolvers from his office.
Neighbors say that he was a firearms collector and some indicated that he was also a licensed gun seller. No confirmation of that has been forthcoming.
While having been watched for years and no charges filed as they seized Adam’s firearms, Federal investigators are saying that they are investigating him for gun smuggling, tax evasion, violating importation laws.
KRQE reports,
Court documents reveal federal agents were watching Adams for years and that some documentation was missing “to determine to whom Adams [was] selling or exporting his firearms.”The guns were also not properly marked possibly to make the guns more valuable and to avoid paying high import taxes, investigators alleged.However, a bigger concern is that no markings on the guns and missing documents mean the guns are not traceable by law enforcement.The search warrant also said Adams was investigated in Canada for keeping about 80 illegal guns in a storage unit. U.S. agents worked with Canadian police on that case.
Kurt Nimmo points out, “New Mexico does not regulate or specifically restrict the possession of firearms. Owners are not required to register or license firearms with the state.
“No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and recreational use and for other lawful purposes, but nothing herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed weapons. No municipality or county shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms,” Article 2, Section 6 of the state constitution reads.“Gun collectors are protected under the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986,” Nimmo writes. “The law states that a firearms dealer is defined as a person who is selling guns for profit or livelihood. Unlicensed individuals are allowed to sell firearms from their private collection without performing a background check on the buyer.”
Something seriously smells here. How can you be investigated for years, yet upon serving a search warrant you don’t put forth any charges against a man when you confiscate nearly 1,500 firearms? I wish they had taken this kind of approach to the Obama Justice Department’s gunwalking program that trafficked nearly 2,500 firearms across the border into Mexico that has left hundreds dead. No one is claiming that the firearms that Adams had were used in any crime!
So much for the Obama administration’s claims that they aren’t against gun collectors. Sports shooters and hunters, you’re up next.

Rove Declares War on Tea Party

The battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party has begun. On one side is the Tea Party. On the other side stand Karl Rove and his establishment team, posing as tacticians while quietly undermining conservatism.
Yesterday, the New York Times reported that the “biggest donors in the Republican Party” have joined forces with Karl Rove and Steven J. Law, president of American Crossroads, to create the Conservative Victory Project. The Times reports that this new group will dedicate itself to “recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the party’s effort to win control of the Senate.” The group points to candidates like Christine O’Donnell in Delaware and Richard Mourdock in Indiana as examples of Tea Party primary picks going sideways in major Senatorial battles.
But it is American Crossroads and its ilk that have run the GOP into the ground. Spending millions of dollars on useless 30,000-ft. advertising campaigns during the last election cycle, training candidates to soften conservatism in order to appeal to “moderates,” blowing up the federal budget under George W. Bush as a bipartisan tactic – all of those strategies led the party to a disastrous defeat in 2012. The Tea Party, which may nominate losers from time to time, also brought the Republicans their historic 2010 Congressional victory. If Tea Party candidates lose, it’s because they weren’t good candidates; if GOP establishment candidates lose, it’s because they weren’t good conservatives. The choice for actual conservatives should be easy.
But it isn’t. The Bush insider team that helped lead to the rise of Barack Obama insists that they, and only they, know the path to victory. As the Times reports, Conservative Victory Project won’t merely protect incumbents – it will challenge sitting Congresspeople of the Tea Party variety, including six-term Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King, who may run for Senate. “We’re concerned about Steve King’s Todd Akin problem,” Law told the Times – with whom he seems far too friendly. “This is an example of candidate discipline and how it would play in a general election. All of the things he’s said are going to be hung around his neck.”
Law claims he’s acting under the rubric of William F. Buckley, supporting the most conservative candidate who can win. But Law is no judge of that. Neither is Rove. Their advice led to the epic Romney defeat, in which conservatives were told to vote for Romney in the primary since he was the only candidate who could win.
Grover Norquist correctly points out that the Rove mission is nonsense. “People are imagining a problem that doesn’t exist,” said Norquist. “We’ve had people challenge the establishment guy and do swimmingly.” In truth, conservatism wins elections so long as the messenger doesn’t implode. Rove’s view, however, is that conservatism takes a back seat to the best quasi-conservative messenger.
But victory for conservatives isn’t Rove’s goal. He’s a political insider par excellence, and he’s playing for his political life in the aftermath of 2012. If that means declaring war on the Tea Party, so be it.

Witnesses told sheriff's investigators that the gunman opened fire on the two men around 3:30 p.m., then fled in a pickup truck belonging to one of the victims. The sheriff's department didn't get a call until around 6 p.m.

Muzzle loaders have come a LONG way with breech loading capabilities and smokeless powder reloading
can be done in 15 seconds and a range of 1500 yards you just cant compare a AR15 to that.

Armed Guard Stops School Shooter
After He Opened Fire at Atlanta Middle School

ATLANTA (AP) — A student opened fire at his middle school Thursday afternoon, wounding a 14-year-old in the neck before an armed officer working at the school was able to get the gun away, police said.
Multiple shots were fired in the courtyard of Price Middle School just south of downtown about 1:50 p.m. and the one boy was hit, Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said. In the aftermath, a teacher received minor cuts, he said.
The wounded boy was taken “alert, conscious and breathing” to Grady Memorial Hospital, said police spokesman Carlos Campos. Grady Heath System Spokeswoman Denise Simpson said the teen had been discharged from the hospital Thursday night. Campos said charges against the shooter were pending.
Police swarmed the school of about 400 students after reports of the shooting while a crowd of anxious parents gathered in the streets, awaiting word on their children. Students were kept at the locked-down school for more than two hours before being dismissed.
Investigators believe the shooting was not random and that something occurred between the two students that may have led to it.
Schools Superintendent Erroll Davis said the school does have metal detectors.
“The obvious question is how did this get past a metal detector?” Davis asked about the gun. “That’s something we do not know yet.”
The armed resource officer who took the gun away was off-duty and at the school, but police didn’t release details on him or whether he is regularly at Price. Since 20 children and six adults were shot to death at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut in December, calls for armed officers in every school have resonated across the country.

Hours after the Atlanta shooting, several school buses loaded with children pulled away from the school and stopped in front of a church about a half-block away. Parents tried boarding the buses. Police who initially tried to stop the parents, relented and screamed, “Let them off!” about the students.

James Bolton was at work when his sister called saying a teen had been shot at his son’s school and was in the crowd as parents began swarming the fleet of buses.
“Move, I see my son, I see mine!” he said, running up to embrace James Bolton Jr. “As long as I got this one back I’m OK,” he said, holding his son’s head against his chest as parents nearby frantically searched for their children.
Bolton Jr. said he was in class when the intercom sounded and a school official announced the building was under immediate lockdown.
“They told us we had to be quiet,” Bolton told The Associated Press. “They said something went on in the courtyard.” Bolton said he was unaware that anyone had been shot until a reporter asked him about it.
Shakita Walker, whose daughter is an eighth-grader at the school, said she received a text from her that said, “Ma somebody’s shooting and somebody got shot.” Walker, who works at another school, said she jumped in her car and was thinking “just hurry up and get there.”
Walker said her daughter called to tell her that they were being kept in the gymnasium, but she said she was anxious to see her to make sure she was OK.
The fear and anxiety was palpable in the crowd, as one person yelled, “Does anyone know what happened?”
Superintendent Davis sympathized with concerned parents who complained that it took too long for students to be released from the building. He said emergency procedures were followed according to protocol and school district officials would meet Friday to review their response. Calls to the school district were not immediately returned.
Mayor Kasim Reed condemned gun violence in a statement shortly after the shooting and said counselors were at the school to meet with students, faculty and family members.
“Gun violence in and around our schools is simply unconscionable and must end,” Reed said. “Too many young people are being harmed, and too many families are suffering from unimaginable and unnecessary grief.”
Outside the school, Laquanda Pittman said she still hasn’t heard from her sixth-grade son. She said she heard the news of the shooting on TV and immediately came to the school.
“All types of stuff went through my head. I’m wondering whether it was my child who got shot, is my child OK, did he see what happened?” Pittman said.
She said she just wants to see her son.
“As a parent, you just think you can send your child to school and you hope they come home OK,” she said.

My father was a police officer, when I was 10 I was caught stealing candy from a 7/11.
He had some other officers take me down to the police station and lock me up for 5 hours. Alone of course!
After that 5 hours of sweating it out, I NEVER committed another crime.
Hard lession, yes, but it worked. Judge this however you want too but it worked. Some may call it child abuse but I call it good parenting! :rolleyes:/>
I agree in punishment.
And with yours, it was your parent who was involved.
But for the school to over react and call the cops for a fight over a dropped five dollar bill,
and then for the cops to hold the kid hand cuffed for 10 hours?
No, this is way way out of line.
The school could have simply gave out detention or suspension
and let the parents dole out the corporal punishment.
A good paddling from the principle wouldn't be bad either,
but you know that won't go over now-a-days.

News Crew Knowingly Interviews Rapist
As “Anti-Gun” Expert

Jerome McCorryOnce upon a time, if you wanted reliable information you looked no further than your local news. Not so much today.
A news crew from WHIO-TV recently interviewed convicted rapist Jerome McCorry about his opinion on gun control. McCorry is a man who is unable to own a firearm because of his own felony conviction and yet he was asked how he feels about rights that belong to law-abiding citizens.
(Hmmm…a rapist who’s against gun control? Who would have thought!)
Of course criminals are against gun control; they want to be in control of them! However the news station fully neglected to disclose this pertinent information about the man and his background when they interviewed him.
Katie Dattalo, an Ohioan and blogger at Domestic Debacle, brought this story to my attention. She says in her blog post, “nterviewing someone for a TV segment who is a RAPIST is not the person to talk to about taking away someone else’s rights. He’s been there, he’s done that and he got the orange jump-suit to prove it.” Kate goes on to describe the reaction she got after calling WHIO-TV about this and was told that they interviewed him “because McCrorry’s message is about community harmony through peace and non-violence.”
“WHIO thinks that his message was peaceful and harmonious when he was raping his defenseless victim?” Dattalo said. “Simply put, gun control is not about reducing violence. It’s about control. Just like rape isn’t about sex. It’s about control. Which makes sense for Jerome McCorry, a rapist, to be advocating for gun control. It’s up to our media how they portray an individual.”
Well, Katie, I could not have said it better myself.
Tiffany Kelly, another Ohioan and wife of a law enforcement officer added:
“I don’t care which side of the ‘Gun-Control’ fence you stand on. A convicted rapist should never be allowed to go on television to tout their beliefs on gun control. Even more disturbing is that the news venues knew that the person they were interviewing not only has a criminal background but a rape conviction! This is not a couple of speeding tickets or even a drug charge. This person used force to rape another human being and now he is on television telling the public why guns aren’t safe. I am completely disgusted by this.”So WHIO-TV, what do you have to say for yourself? You knew the background of Mr. McCrorry, yet you considered him to be the ideal spokesperson for touting the ‘other side’. You interviewed law-abiding citizens about how they felt about their right to defend themselves and then you interviewed a known rapist about his thoughts on rights, which he himself doesn’t even have because of his criminal conviction! Come on… you’re smarter than that (at least you should be). You’re supposed to be non-biased. Oh, wait. I forgot. The media always has an agenda.
WHIO-TV… I await your response. It’s important for those of us in the media to report the whole truth… not just what suits your agenda.

Total Semiauto Gun Ban Hidden in Feinstein Bill

The list of specific firearms that would be banned by Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s gun-control bill is a smokescreen for a trick of language that could result in a ban on nearly all semiautomatic guns, according to a gun law expert who has reviewed the proposed legislation.
Most media reports have focused on the already lengthy list of specific firearms the bill would ban, but Alan Korwin, who has written 10 books on gun laws, says the real meaning of the bill is hidden in the list of banned gun components.
The bill’s definition of a “pistol grip” is what concerns Korwin. According to the version of the bill released by Feinstein’s own website, “The term ‘pistol grip’ means a grip, a thumb hole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip.” (Emphasis added.)
Korwin warns that since semiautomatic weapons with a “pistol grip” would be prohibited by the legislation, if passed then the law would effectively ban any semiautomatic weapons that can be gripped, which is all of them.
“In other words, the gun list does not matter,” Korwin told WorldNet Daily. “It is a smokescreen designed to distract people from the true meaning of the bill. And it has done a magnificent job. It worked! Any semi-automatic firearm that exists, with anything on it you can grip, is banned. …
“The list is meaningless tripe. It is camouflage for the real purpose of the bill. When the president said he is not going to take away your guns, well, Feinstein’s bill puts the lie to that. Magazine size does not matter. Brand name does not matter. It doesn’t matter if it’s black. If you can grip it, it’s banned under this bill.”
Korwin also points out that there is nothing in the bill that addresses the problem of criminals or that deals with the issue of psychotropic drugs, which may be particularly relevant in the case of the Newtown killings that spurred the current wave of gun grabbing efforts.
When she introduced the bill, Feinstein said it was her plan to ban the “sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of 120 specifically named firearms, certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one or more military characteristics; and semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.”
According to Korwin, almost the entire bill violates the Constitution. “Every aspect of this bill appears to be an infringement on the Bill Of Rights, with no legitimate justification,” he said. “Congress cannot pass infringements by majority vote. That is forbidden, although the word ‘infringement’ itself is universally missing in ‘news’ reports, in case you haven’t noticed.”

Full of Hot Air
A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."
She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."
"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"
"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me."
The man smiled and responded, "You must be a Democrat."
"I am," replied the balloonist. "But how did you know?"
"Well," said the man, "You don't know where you are or where you're going. You've risen to where you are due to a large quantity of hot air. You've made a promise that you have no idea how to keep, and now you expect ME to solve your problem. You're in EXACTLY the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now, it's MY fault.

7-Year-Old Handcuffed Over $5, Says Suit

The family of a 7-year-old New York boy is suing police and the city for $250 million, saying cops handcuffed and interrogated the boy for ten hours after a scuffle over lunch money at school.
Wilson Reyes, a student at Public School 114 in the Bronx reportedly got into a fight with a fellow student in December after he was accused of taking $5 of lunch money that had fallen on the ground in front of him. Responding to a complaint of assault and robbery, the police were called and took the boy to the local police precinct where officers allegedly handcuffed and interrogated him for ten hours, according to the lawsuit.
"Imagine how I felt seeing my son in handcuffs," Wilson's mother, Frances Mendez, told the New York Post. "It was horrible. I couldn't believe what I was seeing," she said.
The claim, filed by family attorney Jack Yankowitz, accuses the NYPD, among other things, of false imprisonment, physical, verbal, emotional and psychological abuse, and deprivation of Reyes' constitutional rights.
Robbery charges against the boy were later dropped, and the NYPD, though it disputes the accusations in the suit, is investigating the incident.
"While the lawyer's claims are grossly untrue in many respects, including fabrication as to how long the child was held, the matter is nonetheless being reviewed by the department's Internal Affairs Bureau," Deputy Commissioner Paul J. Browne told ABC News in an emailed statement.
New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio was critical of the NYPD in a statement posted on the New York City Public Advocate's website.
"Seven-year-olds don't belong in handcuffs," he said. "As a parent, I wouldn't stand for this in one of my kids' schools. Our school system's over-reliance on the NYPD as a disciplinary tool traumatizes our young people, sows distrust in our communities and drains vital city resources away from responding to genuine crimes. This has to stop."
Calls placed to Public School 114 were not immediately returned.

Maybe we should adopt Mexico's immigration law.

Mexico’s main immigration law welcomes only foreigners deemed useful to Mexican society:_ Foreigners are admitted into Mexico “according to their possibilities of contributing to national progress.” (Article 32)_ Immigration officials must “ensure (that) immigrants will be useful elements for the country and that they have the necessary funds for their sustenance” and that of their dependents. (Article 34)_ Foreigners may be barred from the country if their presence has upset “the equilibrium of the national demographics,” if they are deemed detrimental to “economic or national interests,” if they are not good citizens in their own country, if they have broken Mexican laws, or if “they are not found to be physically or mentally healthy.” (Article 37)_ The secretary of governance may “suspend or prohibit the admission of foreigners when he determines it to be in the national interest.” (Article 38)Mexican authorities keep track of every person in the country:_ Federal, local and municipal police must cooperate with federal immigration authorities upon request: i.e., help in the arrest of illegal immigrants. (Article 73)_ A National Population Registry tracks every “individual who comprises (sic) the population of the country,” verifying each individual’s identity. (Articles 85 and 86)_ A national Catalogue of Foreigners tracks foreign tourists and immigrants (Article 87), assigning each a tracking number. (Article 91)Foreigners with fake papers or who enter the country under false pretenses may be imprisoned:_ Foreigners with fake immigration papers may be fined or imprisoned.(Article 116)_ Foreigners who sign government documents “with a signature that is false or different from that which he normally uses” are subject to fine and imprisonment. (Article 116)Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:_ Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117)_ Deported foreigners who try to re-enter Mexico without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118)_ Foreigners who violate terms of their visa may be sentenced for up to six years in prison. (Articles 119, 120, and 121) Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa (as by working without a permit) can also be imprisoned.Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says:_ “A penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine of 300 to 5,000 pesos will be imposed on the foreigner who enters the country illegally.” (Article 123)_ Foreigners with immigration problems may be deported, rather than imprisoned. (Article 125)_ Foreigners who “(make attempts) against national sovereignty or security” will be deported. (Article 126)Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are considered criminals:_ A Mexican who marries a foreigner with the sole objective of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison. (Article 127)_ Shipping and airline companies that bring undocumented foreigners into Mexico will be fined. (Article 132)All of the above runs counter to what Mexican leaders are demanding of the United States. The stark contrast between Mexico’s immigration practices and its American-immigration preachings reveals the Mexican government’s agenda: to have a one-way immigration relationship with the United States.

Boy's Nerf gun comment locks down school

A Jittery officials put a Bronx elementary school into lockdown yesterday after an aide overheard a student say "something about a gun" - which turned out to be only a toy Nerf gizmo he had at home.
The school worker heard the 12-year-old boy talking to a classmate about the "gun" at PS 4 at 1701 Fulton Ave. in the Morrisania section at 8:15 a.m., cops said.
The worker alerted school officials, and they immediately closed down the campus as heavily armed police swarmed the building.
The boy later told cops he was talking about his Nerf toy, which was at home.
Even though it turned out to be a false alarm, parents rushed to the school, fearing the worst during the two-hour ordeal.
"It's nerve-racking. There [were] police officers here with assault rifles, and there [were] helicopters flying around," said Jacklyn Williams, mother of a 9-year-old student.

LITTLE GIRL ON A PLANE - PRICELESS
An atheist was seated next to a little girl on an airplane and he turned to her and said, "Do you want to talk? Flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger."
The little girl, who had just started to read her book, replied to the total stranger, "What would you want to talk about?"
Oh, I don't know," said the atheist. How about why there is no God, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death?" as he smiled smugly.
"OK," she said. "Those could be interesting topics but let me ask you a question first. A horse, a cow, and a deer all eat the same stuff - grass. Yet a deer excretes little pellets, while a cow turns out a flat patty, but a horse produces clumps. Why do you suppose that is?"
The atheist, visibly surprised by the little girl's intelligence, thinks about it and says, "Hmmm, I have no idea."
To which the little girl replies, "Do you really feel qualified to discuss why there is no God, or no Heaven or Hell, or no life after death, when you don't know s h i t?"
And then she went back to reading her book.
