State of emergency in the US embassy in Baghdad
Babs47 replied to TonyDownTheShore's topic in Iraq & Dinar Related News
The other night, I was invited to dinner at my friend Shirley's house. The oldest son of her dear departed husband was there. Small talk led to the fact that he has served in the State Department in various locations throughout the world. He mentioned Chalabi as being the US choice to run Iraq (at some point). I'd seen the name Chalabi, but not much lately, and then this whacky article came out. To me, it looks as though Chalabi made a deal with Sadr while at the US Embassy, so there was probably US support for the deal. Just my humble interpretation, for what it's worth. Seems as though Maliki will either be pressured into compliance with everything he agreed to before, or he'll be out. Oh, by the way, I told my new acquaintance about my currency speculation, and he thought it sounded like a good bet, so I gave him a website where he could buy dinars. -

Thanks, Weapon X, for the path to the sad truth. (Sigh)

These bills don't look like the bills whose design was never used. They were more artistic and beautiful than these.

Okie Question

Sometimes our friends tell us things they're not supposed to tell us, and if we told everyone they told us, they'd get into trouble, either at their jobs or with others. -
Central Bank of IRAQ ? no update since 8/28
Babs47 replied to Brisco's topic in Iraq & Dinar Related News
Ramadan (August holiday) was fasting. Eid al-Fitr (feastin) started right after Ramadan. Eid is usually 3 days, but Iraqi officials designated the holiday as 6 days this year. The last day of Eid is today, Sunday. By my way of thinking, having 6 days in a row of no banking had to do with the RV, but we shall see (as my dear departed mother used to say)! My friend's brother went into a Citizen's Bank the other day and the banker showed him the newest currency guide, which listed the IQD as tradeable (!!!), so I do think that the increased value will be right around the corner. Go RV and God bless us every one (stolen from Tiny Tim)! -
We had some mild shaking out here on Block Island, RI, too...14 miles out into the Atlantic. My condo swayed back and forth within a couple of inches, repeatedly, and then that was it, except for the residual swaying of light cords hanging from the ceiling. I've experienced worse in the Los Angeles area, and even a worse one in Ossining, NY once that sounded like a big truck rumbling down a hill in the middle of the night. We got a crack down the edge of our apartment that time. I hope, for all our sakes, that that was it, for now!

I'm guessing that S.I. is SteveI or Steve Irwin. (?)

In answer to your question, Patientlywaiting2, the title says a lot of it: "Passage of the Law,"Council senior policy" by a presidential decree on Tuesday and sent from the Presidential Office to the Parliament". One of the key steps we've all been awaiting, along with Dr. Shabibi, is the formation of the GOI (govt of Iraq). President Talibani has been moving the process along beautifully by getting the draft law ready and sending it on to Parliament today. According to some of the other articles from today, the 2 most contentious parties are showing some flexibility, finally, so we're all hoping they'll finally agree to the Supreme Council (or whatever it's called) and they'll finally elect the ministers of Defense and Interior. This week has given us the most progress we've seen in months! Yippeeeeee!!!

Thank you for YOUR golf course story! It was wonderfully written and very entertaining and reassuring! It really does help all of us to hear about scads of people "in the know" who know that our speculation is a great one!

There is no-one whose name starts with "A", and it was "C" who told "D" the story that was sent to "B". I just found it refreshing that people discussing investments at golf courses aren't calling this a scam any more. Something I personally got tired of...

The message was from "D" to "B".

Much of the world's business is discussed on golf courses daily by wealthy people who can afford to play golf. I'm not saying this particular conversation means a lot, but it's just one more bunch of rich people who are sure this is happening soon. Yes! I live on Block Island! Gorgeous!
