Stryker, I'm in complete agreement. I was just commenting on how that quote seemed to downplay the overall importance of Erbil. The UN (Moon and Melkert) were both adamant about its implementation. Just a smidge of early morning sarcasm. If we see Erbil announced, many other important things will begin to fall in to place.

I tend to agree. The Iraqi politicians have this sense of entitlement that I just can't understand.

Everyone needs to understand that Iraq has done nothing to prove that they deserve to be free from the final vestiges of Ch 7. The GOI isn't complete. The Erbil agreement hasn't been implemented. The Kuwaiti border situation hasn't been resolved. They're still looking for missing remains and artifacts. The list goes on. Not to mention that they can't keep their months shut about the port of Mubarak, or settle the national hydrocarbon law. The UN isn't going to give Iraq special treatment, and the US won't either. Iraq continues to "demand" that they be released. Not the best strategy.

Agreed. I think the last thing that needs to absolutely be accomplished before Ch 7 is lifted is the demarcation of the border. The other issues will have to continue.

You'd think that these Iraqi talking heads would understand the value in keeping their mouths shut in regards to all things Kuwait. All this posturing, threatening, and rhetoric does nothing to help Iraq move from Ch 7.

I wouldn't bother asking, or put any stock in what he says. It's not like he has a track record of being correct on anything. And for all of you who are going to hit me with negatives for this post, KMA. I'm tired of seeing people kowtow to those who are supposedly "in the know", or who have "contacts", or who state that they'll use their political blog to keep our president from being reelected.
