  7. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia to decide to peg currency to the dollar Staff Report Published: 19:12 December 1, 2013 Dubai: Four Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries will announce the introduction of a common currency by the end of December, a Bahraini daily reported on Sunday. The common currency to be announced by Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia will be pegged to the dollar, a source told Akhbar Al Khaleej. “The decision to peg the Gulf currency to the dollar is political and is not related to the economy,” the source said. “From an economic point of view, it would have been better to peg the new currency to a basket of currencies because the volume of trade of the Gulf states with the countries of the European Union is much larger than that of their commerce with the United States. Gulf exports of oil to the European Union are estimated to constitute about 70 per cent of European imports,” the source said. The daily did not identify the sources, but said it was close to Gulf decision-making circles. Oman and the UAE, the other two members of the six-country Gulf council set up in 1981, are not likely to join the common currency in the near future, the source added, without divulging the reasons for the same. Even though the GCC states have huge financial reserves, their currencies are not listed on the world’s reserve currency list because they are not producing states,” the source said. Flexible exchange The GCC countries have been discussing a currency union similar to the Eurozone for more than 15 years. Several economists in the Gulf have been calling for dropping the GCC countries’ long-entrenched peg to the dollar and consider moving to a more flexible exchange rate that will help them better face highly possible inflation risks and economic crises. In September, an official of the European Central Bank (ECB) said that the GCC should not introduce a common currency before its members have a clear common objective. Yves Mersch, an executive board member of the ECB, reportedly said at a global financial summit that no union of states would be ready for a common currency if there was no political consensus. http://gulfnews.com/business/economy/four-gcc-countries-to-announce-common-currency-by-end-december-1.1262037

We came Iraqi initiative to resolve the Syrian issue to prove Iraq's role effectively and desire true to play the role of neutral intermediary and as everyone knows that the solutions that preceded the proposed Iraqi was toward a military strike and arming the opposition or the internationalization of the crisis, while aimed at the Iraqi project to bring about change in Syria through peaceful means and to avoid people Syrian scourge of war so as to ensure the people's right to live under a democratic, pluralistic system that ensures human rights and freedom of expression and an end to a long era of one-party rule and the sole leader that convergence of rejection today in all countries of the world will not find any legitimacy to continue after today. The initiative included a condemnation of the use of force and violence by any party, either by the system or the opposition, and to invite neighboring countries to stop interfering in the internal affairs of Syria, and the non-aligned to any of the parties. And failure to provide the parties to the crisis in Syria, the government and the armed opposition by any regional or international or other. The initiative also included the formation of a government of national unity and transition of all components of the Syrian people, and the involvement of the opposition in this government, across the political principle of consensus, and the granting of personal Syria formally accepted the authority to negotiate with the Syrian opposition groups to prepare for the political climate for a national solution.

  14. Basrah Sport City - New sports complex to be built Using the power of sport to unite people across geographic and cultural divisions, this history making, multi-use complex is meant to spur growth and development in Iraq as well as reintroduce its athletes and teams to the world stage. The design is unique and specific to Iraq. It reflects Arab architectural influences as well as age-old regional icons, recalling a proud past while serving as a bridge to a modern era focused on. The project was initiated by Iraq's selection to host the 2013 Gulf Cup of Nations, or Khaleeji, a biennial soccer tournament for Arab countries. The centerpiece of the initial, $500 million phase of the project is the 65,000-seat main stadium, which is surrounded by a man-made lake in the shape of Iraq. The first phase also includes a 10,000-seat secondary stadium, four training soccer fields, team housing, and a fire s tation, among other facilities and infrastructure. The project is the largest of its kind that the country has ever built. It is a design-build project, with Iraq's Ministry of Youth and Sport as the client, 360 Architecture teamed with Iraqi contractor Al-Jiburi, and design members from around the world. Working across numerous borders, not only geography but also language, security and technology. http://360architects.com/Basrah_portfolio_360.htmlBasrah Sport City Check the nice pictures by clicking "NEXT".

In other words, if the original rate were IQD 1170 = US$ 1, post-redenomination this would become IQD 1.170 = US$ 1." http://www.iraq-businessnews.com/2011/07/05/new-dinars-for-old/
  16. Does anyone know what are the plans for the GCC monetary union? Just wondering because we have noticed a significant increase of traffic to the site GccDinar.com during the past month. Now the site is receiving 10 times more traffic what it used to get before April, 2011. Maybe this has nothing to do with the current situation in the Gulf region, but just wanted to let you know just in case. Peace.
  17. Here is a good article to read before investing in Silver: http://republicbroadcasting.org/?p=14870 This one I like the most: "Since 1873, the Banksters have used every imaginable tool at their disposal to keep us from using this debt free, natural money."
  18. In the long run, I think it would make sense for GCC countries to have a common currency (GCC Dinar or Gulf Dinar??) and independent monetary framework. A single GCC currency pegged to Gold or a basket of currencies will reduce transaction costs, increase price transparency and improve business competitiveness.
