Wow, Easy folks! I get the distinct impression that those of you in the states have the wrong impression of what Iraq is at this point. It is incredibly unstable and has been since 2003. the news back home isn't reporting all the bombings and executions that I hear and see every day. Iraq isn't going to fall into civil unrest. It has been in civil unrest for 8 years. The Iraqis are a lot like the Palestinians, They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. remember there are a lot of people who have had dinar since 2003 and have heard the "it's gonna hit next week" song and dance for 8 years now. Is it closer? yes and no. the feeling here is that this place will go up in flames next year.

Hate to tell you this but The natives have been getting restless at my undisclosed location "in country." Predictions are its going to get worse. Truth of the matter is that those of you in the states have no clue as to the volatile nature of this country. This govt has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

So, yesterday it was raining here in an undisclosed location in Iraq and then the sun came out. The rainbow that appeared seemed to me from my vantage point, to end just outside the "wire" right at a branch of the CBI.

Long time reader, first time poster. As we were sitting around having our daily dinar talk over coffee here in Iraq and one guy mentioned that fridays mideast edition of the military newspaper stars and stripes has "dinar" as the answer to the clue "gulf money" in the crossword puzzle. could be a clue that the gcc will use the dinar as thier base currency. GO RV!!!!!! P.S. I wear a red lanyard.
