Anything that affects the stability of the country also affects the currency, so I have to vote NO. Sometimes it does get a little annoying when there are multiple threads about the same event. Moving the decimal point three places would not make a dinar worth $1.166. I would make the dollar worth 1,166 dinar which is approximately 86 cents per dinar. Roadrunner

I think most people are misunderstanding this. The tax increase in not on the individual as much as on foriegn companies that do business there. There is an income tax in Iraq. It is a flat 15% for everyone. They haves no sales tax. They do have a property tax, but it only applies to those living above a certain level. I may be wrong, but I think it is the top 5%; which is why it is called a "Wealth Tax". Even then, it only applies to commercial property and not their residence. Last week they raised the tax on poultry imported from Turkey from $35.00 per ton to $290.00 per ton. About a month ago they raised the tax on fruit and vegetable coming in from Kuwait by about 75%. I know that any tax on imports will eventually be borne by the consumer, but that is always the case regardless of where you are. A few years ago there was not enough goods being imported to even bother taxing them. The fact that there is an increase in items being imported is evidence that the economy is better than it was. I see no reason why Iraq should not be able to tax them. Roadrunner

What makes you think you can't exchange Dirhams for dollars at a bank?I come home a few times per year. Everytime i come back, I have either a pocket full of Kuwaiti Dinar or Dirhams from the UAE. I have never had a problem exchanging them at any bank.

In 54 years, I have not made one dime that wasn't tithed. If I am blessed enough to live another 54, that will not change. In Luke 11:42 Jesus is speaking to the Pharisees when He says; "But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone". Every time I hear this verse discussed, it is about Him condemning them for what they were not doing. Nobody seems to notice the first part of the verse, where He commends them for things they are doing; which includes tithing. He even goes so far as to say "These ye ought to have done". I am astonished at the number of people these days that think it is OK to just drop a dollar in the plate or sometimes not even that. These are usually the same people that come straight to the church for help when they get in a bind. I don't know where they think the church is supposed to get the money to help them. Imagine the work the church could be doing in the world today if people were as free with their wallet as they are with their opinions.
