Update...for those who are interested , May the Lord Bless this little girl and her family... Getting closer to a new arm Well eliana is back getting chemo this week and everything seems to have gone well. They moved eliana off the 7th floor to the 8th because they had to make room for more kids. The way they did it sucked and pissed Lisa off (I was not in Denver yet) and after getting there, one of her nurses just didn't have a clue how to do her job. Lisa talked to the people she needed to and I'm sure this nurse is going to get the extra training she heeds. This was the first time we have had a nurse that wasn't 100% on the ball. Eliana has to have a pet scan, CT scan, and MRI. Last time she had to be put to sleep to have them done so because of that they will do the scans on Monday. All these need to be done for either a check to ensure the cancer has not spread or as a finial check before surgery. So far the first scan shows no sign of spreading, so we wait on the other 2. Thank God so far so good! She has her surgery on Nov 14th and I'm kinda freaking out on the inside. I don't want her to be in a lot of pain, and I know there are good meds but still I'm afraid she is going to be in a lot of pain and I also know her life is going to change forever. I know there is good going to come from this but limitations and even some bad will also come. In my old mind she will be limited but I know kids do what they need to get by and I'm sure she will also but if I could change places with her I sure would! The whole thing just has me tore up inside. We'll be in Denver for 8-14 days post surgery, after they get the pain under control and manageable with oral meds she will go home. We won't know what the rest of her road map fir chemo will look like until they get the report back on the tumor. After they see how much of it they have killed, that will dictate the remaining treatment path. The news paper article on us came out on Friday. I'll try and post a copy of it if I can. My name is Gary Walker and my daugther Eliana was diagnosed on aug 26th with Osteosarcoma in her right arm under her bicep. Osteosarcoma is a cancerous (malignant) bone tumor that usually develops during the period of rapid growth that occurs in adolescence, and through the teenage years but in this case it affected my 8 year old. Roger (DD) posted a notice about us earlier this month and a great many of you answered the call. So many of you contributed links to info on products and places that might be able to help, you gave us support in the ways of prayers, advice, warm words of encouragement, and even money. You opened up and shared your family stories and personal links to cancer. For those of us who have unfortunately had a brush with cancer and make it, life is never the same. It’s your stories who truly help us to know “we’re not alone”. Our lives have been turned upside down, and all my daughter wants is to be normal again! When I retired from the Marine Corp after 25 years this summer, I had a lot of plans. Then, August 26th arrived! Kiss all those plans good by! In fact the things that used to be important, no longer are, and things I never thought of before, all of a sudden are my center of focus.
