  1. Sure wish I had learned this lesson 6 years and about 4,812 times earlier. Instead I am off in a few minutes to get a heart cath to see what this roller coaster ride has done to me. Have a great day all and GO RV! I will be looking for results when I get home from the Hospital. :-)
  2. Thats wierd. I do not know about the rest of it, but I did notice something strange about the flags. I thought they were just bigger or something. Interesting about the fringe making difference. I think I will try to look that up. It having to do with the reval, I think that is a stretch. The idea of us being under military law being a good thing-Not!
  3. Sounds like an expensive way to simplify accounting to me, but then again it would be much cheaper than revaluing.
  4. I don't know anything about the Forex, but when I clicked on the link it definitely gave a dsiclaimer about Mid Market Rates. Anyone know what that means exactly? Important Information ¹The mid-market rates shown in our exchange currency converter are neither "buy" rates nor "sell" rates. Mid-market rates are derived from mid-point between the buy and sell rates of large-value transactions in the global currency markets. OzForex does not guarantee the accuracy of the rate or currency calculations. Please read the terms of use. 5. Surely this has been posted before but I searched for it and did not see it. But then again, searching is not my forte ( I am not even sure how to spell forte ) From todays XE http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi?Amount=1.00&From=USD&To=IQD Notice: IQD may be redenominated. More on the Iraqi Dinar Live rates at 2011.03.16 03:38:00 UTC 1.00 USD = 1,178.50 IQD United States Dollars Iraq Dinars 1 USD = 1,178.50 IQD 1 IQD = 0.000848536 USD Which leads you to this: http://www.xe.com/currency/iqd-iraqi-dinar Iraq, Dinar The Iraqi Dinar is the currency of Iraq. The currency code for Dinars is IQD, and the currency symbol is د.ع . Below, you'll find Iraqi Dinar rates, a currency converter, Iraqi Dinar News and more. You can also subscribe to our currency newsletters with daily rates and analysis, or take IQD rates on the go with our XE Mobile apps for your iPhone, BlackBerry, or even your regular phone. Notice: IQD may be redenominated: In 2010, the Central Bank of Iraq announced their plans to redenominate the Iraqi Dinar to ease cash transactions. The intention would be to drop three zeros from the nominal value of bank notes; but the actual value of the dinar would remain unchanged. That would mean that 1,000 IQD (pre-redenomination) and 1 dinar (post-redenomination) would both be worth the same amount in US Dollars. Although the announcement stated that the change would take place by the end of 2010, there has been no redenomination as of January 2011 and no further announcements have been made. As stated by the Central Bank of Iraq, their mandate is to "ensure domestic price stability and foster a stable competitive market based financial system." For more information about the redenomination, read "Iraq Planning Currency Redenomination." Which leads you to this (albeit an old articcle) http://www.rferl.org/content/Iraq_Planning_Currency_Redenomination/1950504.html News / From Our Bureaus Iraq Planning Currency Redenomination Iraqi dinars are stacked at a teller's window in a Najaf bank. February 06, 2010 BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi Central Bank is planning to redenominate the national currency in an effort to ease transactions and allow people to carry less paper money, RFE/RL's Radio Free Iraq (RFI) reports. Mudhhir Muhammad Salih, a member of a Central Bank advisory panel, told RFI that a plan has been made to remove three zeros from the currency and phase out the current banknotes late this year. Salih said by the end of 2010 the new banknotes will be fully introduced while the old banknotes will be gradually removed from circulation. He did not specify when the new notes would be issued. Both will be legal tender in Iraq until the old notes are completely withdrawn. Iraqi officials have had a long-running plan to redenominate the Iraqi dinar. In 2006, the Finance Ministry recommended to the Central Bank that it carry out such a plan. Salih pointed out that banks are having a hard time accepting cash savings and deposits, but by dropping the zeros it will make it easier for both the banks to deal with their customers and for the general public to carry money. He said some 80 percent of Iraq's money supply is cash in circulation. Salih added that in 1990 the value of banknotes in circulation was about 25 billion Iraqi dinars but is currently some 25 trillion dinars. Economic analyst Hilal al-Tahhan told RFI that the bank's move is overdue. He said he expects the currency change to go smoothly because of the decision to allow both the old and new banknotes to coexist, leading to less turbulence in the economy. The current exchange rate is 1,167 Iraqi dinars to the U.S. dollar.
  6. And my question would be- What is the average per capita income today? I remember the guy waving the 1000 dinar note in Maliki's face saying it was his days wage and that it was worth less than a dollar. So my quick simplistic math says. $9000 in 2016 divided by less than $365 today equals 24+- times the value in 5 years. Would anyone here hold on to what they have for that return? And what is truly the per capita income today?
  7. "I have demands!" Salma Mikahil, 48, cried out in Baghdad's Tahrir Square, as military helicopters and snipers looked down on thousands of people bearing handmade signs and olive branches signifying peace. "I want to see if Maliki can accept that I live on this," Mikahil said, waving a 1,000-dinar note, worth less than a dollar, toward Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's offices. "I want to see if his conscience accepts it." Does this mean that post RV this guy would make the equivalent of $3000 USD per day if the value went 3 to 1? I have always wondered what a normal citizen makes.
  8. Actually I remember seeing an official document years ago that had to do with the planning stages for the aftermath of the war (reconstruction) and their desired outcome. One of the things it said was that they wanted to bring it back to the rate that it was before the Sadam Regime and even went as far as listing a rate of 3 something. You may want to look through some of the other forums archives or ask some of their members (If there are any left) about that document. Actually that document was the best thing I have/had ever seen in reguards to our investment and is the biggest reason I have held on to my Dinars for many years now. Lojack
  9. As the week is coming to a close in Iraq, I guess that the blacked out days and the strange ordering of media meant nothing or nothing yet? opinions? I could not agree more. Adam, in your chat you mentioned that there would be some training of tellers and branches just before an RV. There are some pumpers out there claiming this has been happening this week. Have you heard this from any of your sources? Adam? Anyone? Sorry Adam. You beat me to the answer on the second part. How about the first? As the week is coming to a close in Iraq, I guess that the blacked out days and the strange ordering of media meant nothing or nothing yet? opinions?

  11. Wow, 54 views so far and no responses. I guess I am not the only one who doesn't know. Any Idea of how much an average Iraqi makes per year?
  12. I am a newbie here, but have been in this game for a long time (5 years I think). The one thing I don't remember ever being discussed is.....How much Dinar would the average Iraqi have on hand. Anyone have any idea?
  13. I told a few friends about this investment a few years ago (5) I think? Most of them bought in for at least 250K- 1M worth of Dinars. They all seem to be satisfied with waiting as long as it takes. My 2 Daughters, who are 21 and 26 years old, on the other hand do not even want to talk to me about them anymore. In fact they have been quite rude lately. Therefore, I think I will make them wait for a year or so before I give them anything, in pay back for all the negativity. The rest of my family have been told and told about this investment. So those that were not able to buy finacially, I will help. The others that were just too dumb, I think not. My wife and I have definitely decided that we will not be accepting applications for any new friends or family after the revalue. As to what I will do with mine? Relax!
