My day will come! I only hope i  am worthy

moose 57, none of us are, within ourselves, worthy.  The reason God came to earth in Jesus is to become our means of becoming worthy.  That's the beauty of the Gospel.  I trust His worthiness and not my own.  If I trust in Jesus Christ and what He did at the cross, and die to ourself and let Him reign in us, then we are worthy through Christ.

I am, in regard to salvation, nothing; until I have HIM.

  2. Though I'm by no means a Ted Cruz supporter, I had no doubt he would win the Texas primary handily, as every candidate should win their home state.  But, what I found perplexing was the 1.5 million Texans that voted for somebody else.  This man has tried his best to fulfill his campaign promises to his fellow Texans, even reading Dr Seuss on the senate floor.  What is it about him people don't like?

    GO RV, then BV

He has demonstrated that he is willing to whatever it takes to win.  And just like the others in the race, he will destroy and demean another person to get the job done.  That's not leadership or character but the traits of a bully looking for a place to roost.

  3. Our talking heads are too busy rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic over doing anything substantive.  Unless something major happens the election will be between Hillarious and Trump.  People who claim to be conservative needs to stop doing everything they can to assure a Hillarious win.  Our media has been bought and paid for by the Democrats and liberal.  If our talking heads would get their own heads out of their rear ends they will see that the American people have actually turned against the political status quo.  Either they need to get behind the people or get out of the way.

BUT we haven't come up with anyone who knows how to lead with integrity and strength.

  4. ALL the great leadership is in the private sector.  That is what we're finally seeing revealed.  It might not be orderly and pretty... but that's what such a revolution looks like!   Hopefully, our newest breed of "politicians" will do the job... and ultimately go home, making room for new ones.  Establishment(s) be damned...

My "pick of the litter" was Rubio, but he was pulled into the stream of slug-infested sewer water of political power and rhetoric.

I think he is too far down the stream for a life preservers.

  5. There was one candidate that was civil, respectful, and appeared to have a moral center, IMO....but they ignored Ben Carson during the debates Nelg!!! The debates have gotten increasingly more difficult to watch...it's like watching a school yard scrap with low ball name calling and no respect! It's going to make us look even more foolish than we already do on the world stage...just sayin'!!!

IF such a leader would show up and declare his platform, respectfully debate the ISSUES, and run with integrity and truthfulness with full disclosure of his/her past dealings, then the present establishment would try to "ride him out" on a rail.

  6. The present political climate should be an embarrassment to the citizens of the United States.  Both the existing political party in the White House and the existing political parties, Republican and Democrat, put on a despicable display of what I don’t want in a president!  Every person from all sides has proven that they do not have what it takes to be leader of the United States.   Where is the strengths of honesty, of character, of morality, of wisdom that should be the hallmark of the president of America? Childish name-calling, silly mocking may win those who want to be entertained and accepted by those of the same mindset, but it will not do for a nation looking for substantive leadership.

Where have all the good men and women gone?

  7. This thread certainly changed!!  It started out as how one comes to know God, now it filled with the teaching of the Witnesses bazar view of Revelation.   Quite a shift in direction.

One thing we all need to remember.  It is not so much how well we know God (though that is EXTREMELY important), but rather "does God know us?"  Does He know my name? Is my name in the "Book of Life"?  If we have the salvation offered and given by God, through Jehovah, His Son, then our salvation is secure.  Our sin (unbelief) is forgiven, our names are in the Book of Life, and our place among the redeemed within the hall of Heaven and the Presence of God should not be doubted.

But faith and trust in the blood of Jesus Christ as our LORD is essential to that salvation.  Believe, repent, and confess His name, and He will confess our name before the Throne.

  8. Last Days Bloggers and self-proclaimed prophets just can’t help themselves when it comes to proclaiming America is under God’s judgement or, that God will soon remove his hand of grace from America because of 1.2 million abortions performed each year in the US or, they insinuate America is a Last Days Israel and the Old Testament Prophets proclamations and prophesies are now intended for America.

For those who wish to ride theological chariots in circles, here’s a news flash:  America is not the apple of Gods eye, neither is Canada (well, we already knew that) or Japan or Paraguay or even Sweden…

God is not interested in a nation as a singular entity as He once was with Israel when the focus of His will was to keep the Israelite genealogy stable and pure for the arrival of Jesus Christ.  At that time Gods overall focus was revealed to illustrate He loved the WHOLE world, one person at a time, equally and without prejudice.  At that moment nation’s borders shifted to the background as the Gospel was proclaimed unconditionally to all men.

Hear it, read it, receive it and believe it - bingo zingo redeemed/saved and thus begins the walk.

But what makes a Christian Nation?  A Christian Constitution?  A Christian President and, Cabinet and, Congress and, Senate and, Supreme Court?

Of course not.  There is no such thing nor will there ever be and, I’ll go so far as to say that the desire for such goes against God’s will for we would be attempting to establish His kingdom here on earth.

And that is for Christ alone.  He sits on His throne now and will someday rule all of men from His throne here on earth.

Yes, if there were more Christians there would be less abortions.  If there were more Christians there would be less government corruption.  If there were more Christians there would be less violence.

If there were more Christians the world would be a better place.

But how can there be more Christians when the focus is on America as the ‘Redeemer Nation’ and God’s hand of Grace stops at the Canadian and Mexican border?

Obviously, the answer is in the Gospel: Hear it, read it, receive it and believe it.

Excellent post, George; and hits the nail squarely.  But you are confronting a lie that has been believed by so many for so long that it will be challenged as heresy.  Hang in, you have the word of God and history supporting your position.

  9. Maranatha!

What a Great Day that will be!!

The LORD will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, with a blast from the trumpet of God, the dead bodies of both the righteous and the wicked will be raised to be rejoined to their spirit.  Judgment will take place for the wicked, but the righteous will go to be with the LORD.

This physical world will be destroyed and a new heaven and new earth will be given to us; one that is fitted for an eternal existence. God will be glorified and recognized by all  humanity and the righteous will praise and honor Him forever.

What a Day that will be!!!

  10. I think this was discussed at some length awhile back.

    Thanks NYK.

Why would God need to use any medications if He is healing His creatures?! He speaks and whatever He wants to happen happens.

The disciples were given power from the Holy Spirit (God's Spirit) to heal the sick and do miraculous things.

It is amazing that we think that God "thinks and acts" like we would think and act.  How foolish.

  11.

By the way, will you please identify the "four corners" of the earth on the circle of the earth?

Firstly lets take your question and fit that with the globe model. So to rephrase...If there are four corners then where are they on the globe model? ...

Ok, the only way four corners (im assuming we are talking hard angles) were to make sense is in a circle not a sphere. If I draw a circle and then make a cross (4 equal quadrants) then I can place my "corners" at the edge...they would be 180 degrees in opposition or 90 degrees apart. So it is possible on a flat earth disc. How is it even possible on a the Globe?
So you are saying that the "flat earth" has corners at each degree and that the "four corners" can be rotated to any position as long as they stay at the 180 degrees or 90 degrees apart?  Or the square can rotate like the hands of the clock and still maintain their "four corners?"  If so, then with the same principle the "square" could rotate on an axes, the spinning "square" would also fit a global configuration.  At least according to your theory.
When man had no revelation and did not know God they believed that the earth was flat.  It was not till God communicated with mankind that we (mankind) had revelation to understand that the earth was global.

Much in the Bible demonstrates advanced scientific knowledge – that is, God revealed

through human scribes information that only He knew long before scientists discovered

    these truths. For example:

    • The exact order of events in the origin of all things. “In a day when the ancient

polytheistic myths of origin prevailed, the author of Genesis declared that the

universe came into being out of nothing by the act of a theistic God in the exact

order that modern science discovered a millennium and a half later,” writes

Geisler. “The universe came first (Gen. 1:1a), then the earth (1:1b), then the land

and sea (1:10). After this came life in the sea (1:21), then land animals (1:24-25),

and finally … human beings (1:27). This too supports the view that the author of

Genesis had access to some intelligence as to how the Creator made the universe”

    (p. 545).

    • Reproduction after each creature’s own kind. This scientific fact runs contrary to

many ancient and even early modern views. Observation and the fossil record

demonstrate that each type of life produces its own kind.

    • The earth as the raw material of human bodies. Many ancient polytheistic

beliefs claim that people cam from the gods; the Koran teaches that human beings

were made from a blood clot (Sura 23:14); but the Bible explains that God made

Adam from the earth (Gen. 2:7).

    • Rain water returning to its source (Eccl.. 1:7). Perhaps without even

understanding it, the writer recorded the process of evaporation, condensation,

and precipitation long before scientists figured it out.

    • The shape of the world as it hangs in space. Job (26:7) and Isaiah (40:22) make

remarkable statements contrary to the ancient belief that the earth was flat, or

square. Some myths held that the earth rested on the back of Hercules or on

pillars, but the Bible states otherwise.

    • Life is in the blood (Lev. 17:11), a fact declared in scripture more than 3,000

years ago and only fairly recently attested to in science.

    • The sea’s paths and boundaries (Ps. 8:8; Prov. 8:29). The continental shelf that

makes this possible is a fairly recent scientific discovery.

    • The laws of sanitation (Lev. 12-15). Long before there was scientific knowledge

of bacteria and germs, God instructed His people through laws of sanitation to

protect themselves from diseases spread by unseen organisms.

My point is that science is finding out things that the Bible revealed centuries ago.
I have no problem with science properly used.  I do have problems with individuals
making the Bible say things that are based on ancient beliefs, which have long since
been disproved.  Nothing has disproved the Bible when properly understood, but there
are many individuals who take the Bible so literally that they miss the greater truth and
revelation of God.  I fear that those who believe in a "flat earth" are in that group.

I have no problem believing in a "flat earth."  With God all things are possible.  However
I do think that with what we know today, it is fighting against the logic of what is reality.

Also, cuz i like looking up words, the word "kanaph" is the hebrew word from which corners has been translated which has also been used as boundaries and or ends...but i just made you a "corner".  Or, it could mean to the ends of the earth.  It also mean the "chief of the clan, tribe, or movement."

What substance makes up the  "firmament" to make it a hard surface?   How thick is it?  While you're finding that information, you might tell us what the "hard surface" of the "firmament"  is made of: gold? silver? tin-foil? Honestly, Why do those details hang you up? I'll attempt to answer these questions if you answer the science behind how and why elements don't turn to gas after leaving the thermosphere?

God has put some things in place that I don't know if we will ever understand completely.  We have an atmosphere that has been placed around the entire globe which protects us from the suns rays.  It serves as the "dome" that makes our environment livable.  How He did it and what keeps it in place ultimately is known by God; not by mankind.

We do know that it is not solid.  Meteorites come through all the time; and now we have space vehicles that go into space through it. (And please do tell me that going to the  moon in rockets, or sending probes into space is impossible. I find the conspiracy theories by hacks on a mission, rather amusing. Most who promote them are looking for another to promote.)

If, as you say, that the earth is flat, how is it fixed in its place? God,! why are you acting like God doesn't have the power to suspend a piece of mass in suspended animation?!

God does have the power to suspend the earth "in it's place," along with all the planets, stars, galaxies, and universeS in the cosmos.  Every thing has its on place and has had since the creation of the cosmos of time, space, matter, and intelligence in the universe.  But from what has been written and said in these posts, one would draw the conclusion that the earth was floating aimlessly in space.

Patty, after I left the last post i had to go search "purpose and life and typed astrotheology" cuz lately ive been guided to that direction only cuz it clarifies and unites for my mind and heart so i just got through reading this...its pretty long, so i don't except most to read it...but it sure made me feel better, here it is...its saying there is a difference between "christ" and "jesus" and that the romans hijacked and adulterated it, i found it very interesting but also how it spoke of the christ being mediator as a spirit between god and matter...for those who can stomache the read, i found it uplifting... basically we are god in matter, that is the descent, and that the "kristos" aka "christ" is the divine spark that is the bridge between god and matter, i found it awesome and even comforting...it has nothing to do with the man jesus, it touches on that...

    http://astrotheology.weebly.com/restoringkeys2.html

It made me feel good anyway :)

Ridiculous.   The writer certainly knows little about the Bible and nothing about Christ Jesus, the LORD.

This is ancient gnosticism and is throughly refuted by Paul, the apostle in some of his letters in the Bible.

YESSIR...the southern hemisphere is larger...and there is a topic in this thread that helps the ballers to understand that...but we know that some people cannot dig, for they already know everything that is......stagnation is putrid...just saying... many thanks to those on the fringe :)  AND TO ALL THE NAYSAYERS, IF IT ISN'T BIGGER THAN PROVE IT?! IT SHOULD BE EASY IF ITS TRUTH...

  14. The more one gets to know Christ, the more one knows God, for Christ is God.

The more one submits to the Holy Spirit and yields to His instruction, the more one knows God, for the Spirit is God.

The reason Christ came to earth is to show us the Father.  Thus, the more we see Jesus Christ in Scripture and are saved by His blood,  the more we know God and will live like God wants us to live.

  15. Who is Arguing?

Be in subjection to one another in fear of Christ. Let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the Lord, because a husband is head of his wife just as the Christ is head of the congregation, he being a savior of this body.  In fact, as the congregation is in subjection to the Christ, wives should also be to their husbands in everything. Husbands, continue loving your wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation and gave himself up for it, in order that he might sanctify it, cleansing it with the bath of water by means of the word, so that he might present the congregation to himself in its splendor, without a spot or a wrinkle or any of such things, but holy and without blemish. (Eph 5:21-27)

But I want you to know that the head of every man is the Christ; in turn, the head of a woman is the man; in turn, the head of the Christ is God. (1Cor 11:3)

The subjection of Christ is only temporary until the kingdom is delivered up to God (Godhead) at the resurrection of the body.  Then the Godhead (Christ, Spirit, and Father) will be united together again.  They are united NOW, but with Christ becoming man, He gave up the equality with the Godhead in order to redeem mankind (Jno 17; Phil 2:5-11; 1Cor 15).

  16. You are quite welcome.  I am sure Nelg is as blessed as I am with your personal revelation (small r) lol. And, you are so right to acknowledge that Christians are at different stages of their Sanctification (or walk as it were) and it is common for a new believer or young believer (in the faith) to make statements of error based upon their happiness, joy or passion or ignorance that the word of Truth that the Lord revealed to them applies to all mankind or Christians is representative of a NEW REVELATION.

Some take it a step further believing Satan's lie that they are a new prophet or apostle or vessel crying out in the wilderness that a NEW REVELATION has been given only to them.

This is where Elders of Christ's Church (male & female) are to use scripture to instruct, correct, exhort and sometimes rebuke the Christian in error.

    Why?

Because Error uncorrected becomes a False Teaching that will lead non-believers and new believers astray from the already existing and complete ordained Revelation of Christ.

As believers we're here to grow into a fuller understanding of Gods Will in our lives through His Word in order to reflect His Light and Glory upon a lost world so that more persons would come to realize redemption is available to them and He be Glorified.

And that is what is considered an Essential Component of the Gospel. There are other Essential Components of the Gospel but for simplicity sake I'm going to illustrate using the one that is the most important.

Also, as believers we can disagree on NON-ESSENTIAL components of scripture without destroying the Essential Components of the Gospel.

    Here is a simple example:

    • ESSENTIAL : 'Jesus Christ was crucified as the atoning sacrifice for all of mankind's lost souls and arose from the dead three days later.'  This IS the foundation of the Christian faith.  (All Christians believe and agree with this)
    • Non-Essential: 'The Rapture occurs prior to the Tribulation; in the middle of the Tribulation; at the end of the Tribulation.  Otherwise known as the Pre-Trib, Mid-Trib, and Post-Trib argument.'  As a Christian, you can believe and argue for any of the 'Trib' positions and you will still be a Christian.

However, What a Christian cannot do without initially being in error is to change an ESSENTIAL COMPONENT INTO A NON-ESSENTIAL COMPONENT AND VISA VERSA.

    For example:

    • Believing Jesus Christ was a prophet and that he was crucified for his loving parables and life example for us to follow but he did not rise from the dead to save mankind's souls. (Non-Christian)
    • Believing a NEW REVELATION AND THUS NEW GOSPEL has been given to self proclaimed Last Days Prophets and Apostles proclaiming the new Revelation of Jesus Christ is now fulfilled by their anointing and prophecy that the shed blood of Christ was insufficient for the atonement and that the Church of Christ must be cleansed by fire and Gods wrath through the complete Tribulation. (Non-Christian)

Scary and sad doctrines eh?  And yet there are many, many similar lies parroted by non-believers and well meaning Christians who have failed to test their own faith with Scripture.

And, that is why Elder Christians are called to correct, exhort, instruct and possibly rebuke those Christians who demonstrate, proselytize and preach Scriptural error. Simultaneously, the Holy Spirit will touch the receptive heart, mind and soul of the Christian in error with Scriptural clarity and sufficiency for repentance or ultimate personal accountability at the Bema Seat of Christ.

Thank you again for your prayerful consideration and follow up.

    GH

    Nice and clear.  Thanks.

LAIC, prayers are with you and your continued search for Truth.

Been busy today and have not had time to get to all I wanted to do.

Anyone who addresses a biblical or spiritual component that effects the life of a believer (or unbeliever), challenges a biblical doctrine, or questions the foundational issues will be subject to peer review.  That is, they will have their words questioned by others to see if what they have written or said will stand the test of scrutiny.  It is only right and correct to challenge any teaching to see if it is consistent with the rest of Scripture. That is the meaning of 1Jno 4:1ff  "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.  By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error."

There are many people teaching something about Christ or the church (His body of believers) that they might fulfill the commission of Christ (Mt 28:19-20). If they are new to the word of God, they have a tendency to follow the popular teacher and not study God's word on their own to find out if it is truth.

There are three important biblical ways in which we are to use discernment.

    (1) Test all teaching for sound doctrine, and especially against the core doctrines of the Faith as laid down in the sixty six books of the Bible. One of the prime rules of truth is that it does not contradict other truth.  It is called the law of non-contradiction.  For example, Jesus is the Christ.  He cannot be both Christ and not Christ, which would be a contradiction. Paul was very clear and blunt about accepting "another gospel", which was a perversion of the gospel (Gal 1:6-8).

    (2) Test all prophesies to see if they are biblical and if the predictions of a prophet all come true. Someone who says they are prophets and their words fail to be fulfilled are no prophet from God.

    (3) Test their lives, words and actions for the fruit of the Spirit. If a teacher of the word is living a sin-filled life, then it is doubtful that that person will speak truth if it suits his/her purpose.  (Don't get me wrong.  We all sin, but we do not continue to live in sin.  We are cleansed by Christ's blood.  But if a person makes a claim to be a spokesman for God, but out of his/her mouth comes vile words and they live an immoral life, then it doubtful that they teach truth (James 3).

Well, there I do again!  Getting off into teaching when I just wanted to say, "keep on keeping on," grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ our Savior.
