  1. Glenn Beck said that the Myanmar currency could only be bought by traveling there. At least that's what I remember him saying. If it's on Ebay, no wonder it's way overpriced. Apparently very difficult to get. If anyone finds a good outlet, please let us know.
  2. wineguy - welcome to the VIP group too! Glad you're in there & can now send your PM's. Let us know if any questions.
  3. wineguy - I believe you do have to be VIP in order to use the Private Messaging system. (mod's, correct me here if I'm wrong) And then you're limited to starting one PM thread a day. Once a thread is started, you can go back & forth on that thread numerous times, but can't start another PM thread until the next day. Hope that helps.
  4. I agree with JaxinJersey also. When I was in school in the 50's & 60's, what I was taught agrees with Jax. Gave him a + for the great accurate explanation.
  5. Any day will work for me. Let's just don't eat too much turkey tomorrow so if it does RV, we won't be so stuffed we can't make it to the bank! We'll be gobbling all the way to the bank. Thanks to Adam and TG for the chat & posting. Great job!
  6. Dinar_o'saurs - not a problem at all. That's what VIP (and the Dinarvets site) is all about, helping each other. We're all learning as we go along. Glad I could help you out, sir.
  7. BettyBoop is correct. Adam has deals working all over the world, and in most countries. But UK is definitely on the list. So the cash-in benefit alone is worth the cost of joining VIP. Betty, hope you're out of the hospital quick & jump back into VIP. We'll hold him off just for a little while, but can't for much longer. He's really determined to push that button!
  8. Nadita - thanks for thinking of me. But glad Dogmatic1 fixed him up right away!
  9. sourpuss - I understand your question now, but really can't give you a specific answer. Everyone's risk level is different and which investment is best for you may not be what's best for someone else. Warka is a savings account & you're letting your money sit there & earn interest. Investing in the various companies available in the ISX - who knows where their market is going. So that is definitely a personal decision. If you have funds that you are willing to leave on the table (risk involved in anything we do here), then I'd jump in to either or maybe both. I'm very pro-Iraqi dinar and ISX. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's right now you. Hope that helps. Also I'm going to edit the subject of this topic to reflect jimmycat's & reveldog's request to make it easier to find later. Hope that's ok. Jimmycat & reveldog, just to let you know up front, the word easy and Warka is an oxymoron. They don't always go together. However, to me it's worth the effort. I'll try to help out as best I can. In my experience, applying for a Warka account is best done just with an email requesting that they open you two accounts, a USD account & an IQD account. If you have a passport, scan your passport in color & save to your computer. If you don't have a passport, I've heard than your state DL works just as well. Type up the following letter, sign it & scan to your computer. Sample is below - this gives them permission to withdraw from your USD account & exchange it into IQD. Once you get both of these items scan & saved to your computer, send your email request to c.accounts@warka-bank-iq.com and attach both of the documents to your email. Send a copy of your email to Mr. Mohammad K Issa at ifrd@warka-bank-iq.com so that both the new accounts dept and Mr. Issa have your request. Don't send it on a Friday or Saturday (they are closed - that is their weekend), and I believe they are currently closed for holidays and will be re-opened on Nov. 20th. So I'd wait & send your request after then. Here's the authorization letter (and I'm pretty sure Adam has it available in the Warka section of the forums: I, ____________________ authorize Warka Investment Bank to withdraw from my USD Savings Account at Warka Investment Bank and exchange the US Dollars into Iraqi Dinars according to the price fixed by the Central Bank of Iraq at that day, and then deposit those funds into my IQD Savings Account at Warka Investment Bank. Party in full agreement, signed below. Name: ________________________________________ Address: _______________________________________ City/State/Zip/Country: ___________________________ Email Address: _________________________________ Signed: ______________________ Date: __________________ Printed Name: _______________________ When they receive your email, they should open your accounts, reply to you by email with your two account numbers (USD & IQD). At that point, you are ready to fund your USD account. It took less than a week for me to hear back from them, but that was months ago. I'm not sure what their current timeframe is for opening new accounts. After about 2 weeks, if you haven't heard anything, I would send a following email to both email addresses asking for the status on your request. But always be polite, courteous & patient. I hope this helps you get started. Once your acct is open, yell back & we'll address the ISX approval for your account. PS - Warka does have an "online application" that you can use to open your accounts, but it seems like that avenue is slower than just a direct email request.
  10. sourpuss - 1. It sounds like you already have a Warka account, correct? If so, are you investing in the ISX thru your Warka account? Assuming yes on both of these, add the funds to your Warka account AND invest in the ISX thru Warka - you're doing both this way. 2. When investing in the ISX, you're buying shares of stock in an Iraqi company. When the value of the stock of the company you've investing in rises (hopefully with an RV, but also with the economy of Iraq growing), your portfolio value increases. The value of your shares in this Iraqi company is in dinar. When you sell the stock, and convert it back over to USD, then you'll be able to withdraw the US $'s from your account, if you so choose. Does this make sense? Not knowing what kind of experience you have in investing in any market (even here in US?), it's hard to know exactly how to explain this. Let me know if I've helped - or confused you more.
  11. Ocean1 - Adam has personally unbanned you from chat, so you should be good to go. Hope the wounds are healing ok and all's good on his end and the mod's. You were very respectful & that goes a long way around here! And being a newbie fresh off the turnip truck helped too. Can't believe you were just a few minutes into your new membership and got bounced! Twice! Ouch! It's a great site & welcome, I'm sure you'll love it. Don't tell the hubby, he'll never know the difference (unless of course he checks out your posts).
  12. Since you're a brand-new member - the ultimate newbie, I'm sure you'll get unbanned pretty quick. As you've learned, when the live chat is going on with Adam, there's absolutely no typing at all. If you want to ask him a question, you must go into the Chat Logs where a thread will be started & you post your question there. Then, those questions are posted by one of the mod's during the live chat. Welcome to DV and sorry your first experience was such a bumpy one. Getting bounced twice right away must have hurt! We'll get this taken care of.
  13. Yes, BradyBear, it's 15,000 IQD per year. At least that's what the fee was earlier this year when I opened my Warka account. That equates to about $13 per year USD. Hope that helps.
  14. otownpilgrim, following is a sample of the authorization letter you need to send to Warka by email giving them permission to charge your account for online banking. Once they are open after the holiday, just send this by email (signed & scanned ). Hope this helps. I, _________________ am requesting access to online banking for my accounts at Warka Investment Bank. My Account #’s are as follows: USD Savings Account # ______________________ IQD Savings Account # _______________________ You have my full authorization to charge either my USD account or my IQD account the fee of 15,000 IQD / year for this service. Party in full agreement, signed below. Name: ______________________________ Address: ____________________________ ____________________________ Email: ____________________________ ___________________________________ Signed Date: ________________________
  15. good answer, jeepguy. Yep, that's exactly what Adam's has been saying. By opening a Warka account & holding iqd in it, you are spreading your risk, so to speak on the various issues of an RV that we're still clueless about. But by holding electronic dinar, it shouldn't be at risk of any timeframe for cashing in. We should be able to hold it as long as we want & watch it rise in value as their economy rises.
  16. bigboy0854 - I would send an email to e-bank@warka-bank-iq.com and tell them your problem. Also send a copy of your email to Mr Mohamman K. Issa at ifrd@warka-bank-iq.com. Between those two, you should get an answer. Good luck.
  17. I've flown with 5MM dinar in my carry-on - out of the country, with no problems at all. Currently, the dinar is not a tradeable currency, so it's not really "currency", it's a collectable. Just put it in your carry-on and walk right thru. It doesn't show up on xray and you shouldn't have any problems at all. JMO
  18. I will ditto that one - don't go near the "options" game. You'll more than likely lose out. And I also agree with Choppermike about the Jordanian dealers - I've bought several times from a dealer in Jordan off of Ebay, and the experience was great. Great communication, and fast shipping. I always received by package within two days of my wire being sent. If I were in the market for more dinar, that's definitely where I would be shopping.
  19. oleman - someone gave you a neg for your post, which made no sense at all. So I evened you out with a +.
  20. Hey everyone, I understand your frustration with being set back to a zero - some of those reputations were very hard earned! But I don't think the system would let Adam just wipe out the negatives without also wiping out the positives. I too lost alot of positive points. But to just wipe out the neg's, he would have to manually pick & choose thru thousands of members - not feasible to handle it that way. So, we all got set back to "0". But those of you on here that had great reputations will rebuild those rep's, and probably fast. There's alot of great people on here with the intent of learning, helping, researching and informing others. And yes, also disagreeing with some other members' opinions. And that's ok. It's all about respectfully disagreeing. So, as time goes by, my bet is that everyone will be very surprised at how fast your positives add up this time. Looks like the positive thinkers are already hard at work replacing alot of those lost pluses. Keep up the good work, guys, and lets hope this new transition into a more positive, pleasant dinar site will be worth the loss of your pluses. Thanks to everyone for the cooperation & patience with this change that Adam has made. It will make for a much nicer place to visit & hang around. vindebona - looks like you're working in the wrong direction already - and on purpose! It won't take you long, I'm sure, to accomplish your goal. If you're not happy here, there are plenty of other sites out there that would probably love to have your "sweet" attitude. Since you've been here for only two weeks, I doubt that anyone would even notice that you're gone. I recommend a "poof" on your part, while it's still your decision to make.
  21. Elixirbaby - watch out - he likes to have "cats" for lunch! Even if it's your cat.
  22. stktrdr24 - no the first reply you received wasn't from a VIP member. But there's lots of members (VIP & otherwise) out here that can answer your questions re: Warka. My first thought was also "HUH?" when I read your question. But you're inquiring about the pro's & con's of opening a Warka account, correct? Adam's book is an excellent suggestion - get his book & read it. Then read the pinned topics in this forum, and the rest of the topics, as far as that goes. Read everything you can about Warka in order to educate yourself so that you can make the best decision for yourself. There's also alot of good info in the VIP area about Warka banking. Then if you have more questions, please post them here & be specific. Someone will be glad to help. If no answers here, try the VIP section. LOTS of great help there also. Hope this helps.
  23. Trinity, you're very welcome. I know there's been some who have done the whole ball of wax at one time with no problems. But if someone is just trying to get their Warka acct opened, the AACC certification seems to add more cost & make things more complex than necessary. And it takes more time. So skipping over that step makes things simpler - or at least it seems that way to me. Then, the AACC certification can be done later. That's just my way of thinking. But either way works. Good luck to rlontheroad - may your steps to Warka be smooth!
  24. Trinity - the AACC certification is only needed if you plan to do ISX trading. Just for opening an account at Warka, all of that isn't necessary. But the attachments do need to be in color, no black & white passport. If the notary that you are talking to won't do this, then find another notary. There's plenty out there that will do it. And I wouldn't send a tif file, I'd scan all documents as pdf files & attach those. My application to Warka went thru first time, no problems. Another suggestion, don't send anything to them on a Friday or Saturday - that's their weekend. They don't seem to address anything that came in on a weekend, it seems to go straight into a trash bin. And send Mr. Issa a copy of your email when you're submitted everything. Good luck once again.
