  1. "Yup. HCL will pave the way to economic reform by improving the purchasing power of the citizens." Doesn't having a respectable exchange rate pave the way to economic reform by improving the purchasing power of the citizens? What comes first.....the chicken or the egg? JMHO.....Seems to me the purchasing power of a realistic exchange rate will kick off the economy fast and right now. If a HCL passes ( if anyone lives long enough) it would be at a stand still being caught up for a list of reasons, in bureaucratic hell. Long before any money dribbling to the citizens would make any kind of difference.
  2. The value of the Dollar going up may bring down the Dinar value. But it depends on how you look at this in reference to being good or bad. To me it may apply extra pressure on the CBI, or who's really pulling the strings, to revalue or re-instate. Sooner or later something is going to happen.
  3. Sounds like Frank borrowed Nader's little speech....a day later. Must be slow news!
  4. Like Vietnam I guess......OOOPS...They already have a thriving private sector!! Bunch of crap! Until proven wrong.....I stand by my thoughts that Iraq is unique, and needs a healthy exchange rate to thrive.
  5. Exactly! People get all pumped up when oil prices are climbing.... THEN you get this..... "Will the high price of oil delay monetary reform" 🤪
  6. I agree. I'm thinking the only hope for Iraq, and possibly us, is Sudani. If He's slick enough to turn the table and satisfy, or do in the corrupt, in the process. Either that or if the powers that be benefit from an RV. In which case they wouldn't want to see the "common folk" prosper. So We better have a plan to avoid the bail ins / stealing, etc. Then there's 45.....🙂
  7. So the majority of years that Iraq had a respectable Dinar exchange rate......was the HCL also in force?
  8. A deputy for Sadiqoun demands that Iraq join the "BRICS" Politics | Today, 13:17 | Baghdad Today - Baghdad MP for the Sadiqoun parliamentary bloc, Zainab Juma Al-Moussawi, on Wednesday (August 30, 2023), called on the government to submit an application in order to join the BRICS global group. Al-Musawi said in a statement received by Baghdad Today that "part of the importance of the BRICS group is its possession of oil, wheat and widely used minerals such as iron, or rare metals used in technological industries." She added that "Iraq's accession to the BRICS group, similar to the accession of Arab and regional countries, comes because of its utmost importance to the Iraqi economy in getting rid of the hegemony of the US dollar and freeing the country from Washington's financial and trade restrictions." She pointed out that "the BRICS group has become one of the most important economic blocs in the world, due to the growth figures achieved by the countries of this bloc over the years, which made it the focus of attention of many other countries." The BRICS group and its current member countries Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa present themselves as an economic bloc seeking to break the West's dominance of the global economy, and many economists predict that it will be a symbol of the world's fastest-growing economies in the near future. BRICS is a global economic bloc whose idea began in September 2006, when the foreign ministers of Brazil, Russia, India and China first met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. This group has become one of the most important economic blocs in the world, due to the growth figures achieved by the countries of this bloc over the years, as it aims to become a global economic power capable of competing with the Group of Seven (G7), which accounts for about 7% of global wealth. 9. How many times was Halbousi suppose to be canned? Mr. Iranian is still there. Unless this is an old picture.
  10. I must say.....I think I read that line 6-8 times before I said...You know?? I think He's right! 🤣
  11. Seems to me it's fair to say that Iran pushes the buttons in Iraq. So what if Iran was to push the buttons, along with Iraq, in the joining of BRICS. They would all be free of USD and US sanctions. The currency would all be Gold/Oil etc. backed, and part of the QFS. Re-instated or Revalued. In turn Iran HAS NOW made themselves filthy rich and can do whatever the heck they want. Have I had too much coffee? 😳 🤣
  12. BRICS Conference 8/22-8/24 ( Not to mention they have been stocking up on Gold...
  13. So I get the sick feeling like here we are again with Maliki calling the shots with His puppet at the helm of the CBI again. I know they've come a long way...But tell me there's more to it right now than what I'm thinking.
  14. I'm thinking My IQ just went down at least 20% reading what these guys just said 😳
  15. Citizens in Mosul call on the central bank and the government to solve the exchange rate problem Wednesday 19 , July 2023 11:03 | Economy Mosul (NINA) - Citizens from Mosul called on the central bank and the government to take urgent measures to address the problem of the continuous rise in the exchange rates of the dollar, which has reached in the markets about 150,<> dinars per hundred dollars. One of the most prominent merchants in the city of Mosul, Hassan Klawi, said in a statement to the Iraqi National News Agency (Nina) that "the continued rise in this way affects the economic situation and markets in Mosul and all of Iraq." He added that "the markets of Mosul are witnessing a very large recession due to the high prices of food products, which was a major reason for the rise in the price of the dollar, which negatively affected the Mosul street, calling on the Central Bank to intervene quickly to solve the crisis of the rise in the price of the dollar, which negatively affected citizens due to the deterioration of the economic conditions in Iraq in general, especially Nineveh." Citizen Uday Al-Badrani stressed that "this increase has led to a deterioration in the purchasing power of citizens and an increase in the cost of living. Prices have been significantly affected, he said, as prices of basic commodities, foodstuffs and basic necessities have risen. Various economic sectors, such as industry, agriculture and trade, have also been affected by the high import costs and the decline in investments, which led to the deterioration of the economic situation and increased unemployment and poverty rates," he said, calling on the Central Bank to intervene quickly in order to end the violations of these high prices in light of this difficult economic situation. /End Citizens in Mosul call on the central bank and the government to solve the exchange rate problem (ninanews.com)
