  1. Take a look at page 5 in this report. It shows import amounts and export expense. So long as oil stays at the price it is at, they (Iraq) will continue to be in the Black. Which is very good for a R.V. http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/156992.pdf
  2. I will be meeting with my friend this week U.S. middle east trade specialist, and a world currency expert. Hope to gain some inside information if at all possible. Will let you know whatever I find out. With that being said this was just released. Read what you need to. There is an index. The briefing book was prepared by members of the Iraq Partners Forum. It benefited from inputs and contributions from officials from Canada, Denmark, the European Union, Japan, Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, the United States, FAO 1 , ILO, IOM, OHCHR, UNDP, UNESCO, UNFPA, UN-HABITAT, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNIDO, UNIFEM, UNOPS, WFP, WHO, UNAMI, the World Bank and the OECD. International partners stand ready to engage on the topics contained in the briefing book and will answer any query in this regard. Questions should be addressed to Mr. Yahia Khairi Said, World Bank Resident Representative and Acting Country Manager, and Mrs. Christine McNab, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq and Resident Representative UNDP Iraq. http://www.iraq-businessnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/UN-Briefing_Book_English2011.pdf
  3. Sorry, I looked for it and didn't see it. Been busy last couple days. Thanks k98
  4. Have not seen this posted yet. If we don't see an R.V. soon I really do believe we will see one before the end of this summer. Baghdad, Feb. 23 (AKnews) - The Iraqi Central Bank (ICB) said Wednesday that Iraq payed the debt of 3,500 commercial creditor at a value of $ 2.7 billion, as a means to protect its money from the manipulation of foreign trading companies. Muzher Mouhammed Saleh, the adviser of the ICB told AKnews that the payment was done according to legal procedures that allow Iraq to pass easily the obstacles that may hinder the protection of its funds abroad. Iraq is supposed to submit to the UN Security Council a detailed report next May that include the most important basis to protect its funds. The ICB stated earlier that the recent tensions witnessed by a number of Arab countries will not increase the protection period of UN funds in Iraq. The Iraqi Finance Ministry revealed on the seventh of last month that the work of the Iraqi funds protection committee will be secret to avoid fictitious companies which claim that they want the Iraqi funds. "The Committee set up to protect the Iraqi funds under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Roze Nouri Shawish is developing now an integrated plan to prevent manipulation of the funds after getting out on June from internationalist protection article." The Iraqi Finance ministry assured at the beginning of last month that a technical governmental committee took over developing mechanisms to protect the Iraqi funds in foreign banks after the resolution of the UN Security Council at mid-November which stated on lifting the protection from the Iraqi funds at the end of next June. The UN Security Council voted unanimously at mid-January on three resolutions concerning the lifting of the embargo imposed on Iraq about the import of nuclear materials for peaceful purposes, and the elimination of oil-for-work program, and also extended the immunity by the compensation imposed under Chapter VII until the end of next June. The former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein ordered the invasion of Kuwait in 1990, and after that the international community imposed sanctions on Iraq and put it under Chapter VII, which makes it a country that threatens the world peace and security. The international sanctions included preventing it from importing chemicals and nuclear technology that could be used in secret nuclear, chemical and biological programs. The United Nations allowed Iraq in 1995 to sell oil for food, within the "oil-for-food" program. http://www.aknews.com/en/aknews/2/220459/
  5. Yes I know BanG, I read that. The only thing that bothers me about the 2011 report is Import $$$$. I have said for a while that a currencies main factor of having a Value is how much you Export and the $$$ you receive compared to the Imports you need and the $$$$ you spend. Iraq is getting on it's feet. With all of the people that are in a poverty level and the amount of medicine and medical help they need, not to mention the food. I am afraid that the bottom line of the profit they make on Oil may not be as high as I would have liked to see. Time will tell. Peace.
  6. http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/156992.pdf With the info from BanG, and the status report being published on the 17Th, things are definitely starting to take place. The only thing that I did not like to see is the amount of Import $$$$. Lets hope in the coming days they R.V. and we can all get off of this ride. It is only 2 weeks until I have a meeting with the X-U.S. Middle East Trade Specialist, and a world currency expert. If it does not happen in the meantime I hope to get some good Intel to share. Go R.V. for goodness sakes
  7. Well, I have heard similar rumors of how someone tried to buy dinar at another bank and that they had a limit as to how much you could buy as well. If it's true buy them somewhere else. Also, if it's true, I look at it as a good thing. A bank is not making decisions like that on their own. It would be coming from someone or something higher up in the chain of command. They may know something, who knows? Maybe an R.V.? I can't believe I'm up at 4:00 a.m. answering a rumor thread. Went to bed way to early. Edit: B.T.W. the key word in this whole comment is.............RUMORS!
  8. Well tj, you would certainly think that they would have a plan in place. Whether or not it includes THE R.V. remains to be seen. I certainly hope it does, I'm completely ready to stop waiting. 6 years 8 months is long enough, I don't want to wait anymore. I really do believe that Iraq has a small say in what their currency R.V.'s to. Maybe this display will prompt the powers to be to move their A**ES. A display of this kind could speed things up that is for sure. Usually it takes something like the Egypt Explosion to get something done. I sure hope not. Bad press for Iraq at this time would not be good for our investments or for any country or business wanting to invest.
  9. Not to worry. IMO Iraqi Dinar is going to be a currency that is sought after by the Globe. Not saying it will be the Global currency, but certainly something every nation on the globe will want. World contracts for their Oil is a very big deal. I think we will all be just fine being the few that hold dinar. How much of the world believe that this is nothing more than a scam? Lots of people I talk to think that way. Hold onto your investment and keep your seatbelt on. This ride is about to get wild.
  10. Telecom agreement signed to connect Iraqi network to neighboring states Monday, February 14th 2011 2:03 PM http://www.aknews.com/en/aknews/2/218146/ Baghdad, Feb. 14 (AKnews) - The Iraqi Communications Ministry signed a preliminary agreement with the Saudi company STC to link Iraq to Turkey and Saudi Arabia by an optical cable system. Official ministry spokesman Samir Ali Hassoun told AKnews that this initial agreement determines the financial aspects of the deal. The Ministry of Communications has been working for a long time on extending the existing optical cable network to provide advanced electronic communications in the country in the near future. The internal structure of the Iraqi telecom network was badly damaged in April 2003 during the violence and looting that followed the US-led toppling of the former regime. Reported by Saman Dazzayi Rn/Ka/AKnews IMO: Only 40% of Iraqi citizens have cell phones. Iraq is trying to connect with the rest of the Arab world. When this country gets on its feet, 60% of the population is going to want what they have never had. A cell phone. Asia Cell in on the ISX and in my opinion is a really good investment to get into. Just a thought. It's early, I put the Web address in the title line. Sorry.
  11. k98, no disrespect. You certainly can do that. It's not that big a deal. Sometimes it may bury news a couple pages down. So when I see you have done your due diligence of news searching and posted for the day, I know that I may need to start on page 3 that's all. Thank you buy the way for all the work you do. I search several sites as well, so I know what you are doing and it is appreciated. Most people here click and read, and that is fine. Some (like yourself) are diligent searchers, and the hard work is commended. Edit: BTW noticed (hard not to) that you enjoy cigars. My fav's are any Fuente Don Carlos, preferably the #2. Pricey though, so I smoke the 858.....a lot!
  12. I believe that if you buy from a U.S. bank like 5/3 you will get the lowest price available. It is circulated notes though, not a big deal if its authentic. I have heard a report (don't know how true it is) that you will only be allowed to buy a certain amount from the banks and then be SHUT OFF. I guess your on some kind of list once you do purchase from banks. Has anyone heard that rumor or know firsthand?
  13. dflake you are a genius in my book. Now if we can get k98 to post all news in this format it would really cleanup the news section.
  14. Saw an article posted on Dec 20th 2010 by The wall street journal on the dinar. Nothing since then. Not to say that they didn't post another one.
  15. That was an incredibly great idea and should be done by all of us when wanting to post multiple threads. +10 if I could.
  16. Bang you have been busy today. The really good news in all of this is that $0.85 is more than the USD is worth now.
  17. 02/12/2011 : History Barzani: the dissolution of parliament would mean the end everything will Oltk my reputation because of corruption The news agency palm In a meeting with leaders and members of the Kurdish parties, said Massoud Barzani, Kurdistan's president that the citizen and the political forces in Kurdistan, the right to freedom and expression, but must be an exercise of this right under the law, and as such entitled to any political party that calls for the withdrawal of confidence from the government in Parliament, but it can not dissolve parliament to call himself, because that would mean the end of everything. Barzani had promised to parties and forces, Kurdish meeting special to discuss the problem of corruption, and consultation of all to discuss ways of confronting it and control, and dedicated to meeting the last of this issue, noting in his speech when we talk about corruption must be Nwcr location, therefore, propose that a committee of representatives of your parties to work together for pointing cases of corruption, or to provide each party or a party to a detailed report on this case indicates the full transparency and clarity of the hotbeds of corruption and its positions in order to undertake the presidency of the region its mission in the face of this phenomenon and call on the parliament and the government to take legal action to eradicate it, and I am with the fight against this phenomenon and to eliminate heart and mind, and I'm not ready to smear and discredit me struggle because of this phenomenon is rejected in society. The Albarwani call on all parties to submit a detailed report on this phenomenon, and to include the proposals in full transparency, in order to progress these proposals, together with indications and evidence supportive to the Parliament and the Government to take necessary action to eliminate corruption in the context of advancing the process of political reforms in the region. Barzani said during the meeting the issue of national security: the protection of national security the responsibility of everyone, without exception, we will not allow anyone to touch this side, was left in front of the three presidencies in Kurdistan, only two years, we shall return later to the polls to decide the people of the new Hi deems to represent him and we will respect this resolution. He called upon the spokesman of the Political Bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan led by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani MDC Kurdish opposition, led by Mustafa Nushirwan a formal apology by the statement issued by the movement and calling for the dissolution of Parliament and overthrow the government, and this was rejected by the Spokesman of movement, referring to the to dissolve parliament and call early elections is a call normal in all States to adopt democracy. http://www.inciraq.com/pages/view_page.php?id=49695 This is another article I found. Remember, (if you read the post) Iraqis and the M.E. can't do anything without a huge debate or argument. They usually get very heated in their discussions too. After reading the post above I believe they are just trying on their new "Democracy shoes, and seeing how they fit" you know walking around in them a little bit. IMHO not a big deal. It will smooth itself out.
  18. I agree with keeps on most everything he says, except for the amount he sometimes thinks the dinar will originally post at. Kuwaiti Dinar was pegged to the USD Which was on a Sunday btw. From March 18, 1975 to January 4, 2003 the dinar was pegged to a weighted currency basket. From January 5, 2003 until May 20, 2007, the pegging was switched to 1 U.S. dollar = 0.29963 dinar with margins of ±3.5%.[2]. The central rate translates to approximately 1 dinar = 3.33745 dollars. From June 16, 2007, the Kuwaiti dinar was re-pegged to a basket of currencies,[3] and is now worth about US$3.45 (€2.37). It is the world's highest-valued currency unit. I thought that if it did not R.V. by the end of 2010 (which because of the Paris Club) I thought it might, then we were looking at June of 2011 the earliest and if not by then there is no telling. I btw believe it will R.V. to at least the value of the USD, probably higher though.
  19. Hello, My name is Hammy and I'm a dinaraoholic. I have to say I got whacked once. Have a pile of the stuff tucked away in a fireproof file cabinet filed under house repairs. ( really don't trust the banks ). I would have to go back and see, though the rumor was "It had to happen before the end of 2010 or Iraq may loose billions of dollars" one of those rumors. Remember that one. Well I bought a couple more short stacks and stuck them in the file cabinet.
  20. Sleep? What's that? Hookerwife, that was your first post. Thank you for your concern for my well being I really do appreciate it. To think your first post was your concern for my best interest. I will take you up on it. Goodnight all.
  21. The two links below are Investment Climate Statements from the U.S. Department of State. We are due to receive this years statement soon. I have been checking lately. It usually comes out this time of year. I posted 2009 and 2010 statements. Not going to copy actual post as it is long. Interesting to compare the two. Can't wait to see what they say this year. Really good idea of how the U.S. feels about investing in Iraq. http://www.state.gov/e/eeb/rls/othr/ics/2010/138084.htm http://www.state.gov/e/eeb/rls/othr/ics/2009/117443.htm
  22. Go back to the site that you saw this and at the top of the page right click on the http: address copy and then paste on your post. If its a newsletter then I guess you can't do that.
  23. From the beginning of time or at least as far back as we can recall and or remember Gold has always held it's value. Silver is a really good idea as well. More than half of your assets should be in one or both of these. Or more if you can. As far as The One World Order, don't get me started.
  24. muleman, just some advice before you get whacked. In the news sites they're going to want a news link. Great info, well written but without a link they may move this to opinions and perspectives.
