  1. Please pardon the newbie, but what is that?? Where's it from?
  2. IMO, humble that it is, this seems to be the last roadblock to RV. Please let the Iraqi's not screw it up!!!!!!!!!
  3. I've read and posted two articles that have to do with Iraqiya being very angry and M & A's agreement, and that they are not happy with some of the documents and agreements they're being asked to sign. I wonder if this is going to throw a monkey wrench into the works?
  4. Iraqiya Bloc Does Not Want to Recognize Article 140 – Kurdish MP 14/12/2010 By Sherezad Sheikhani Erbil, Asharq Al-Awsat – Kurdistan Alliance MP Mahmoud Othman told Asharq Al-Awsat that the National Alliance which is made up of Ammar al-Hakim's Iraqi National Alliance and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's State of Law Coalition, has endorsed all of the 19-points put forward by Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani with regards to the formation of Iraq's next government. However Othman revealed that Iyad Allawi's Iraqiya bloc objects to some of the Kurdish demands, particularly the points dealing with Article 140 of the Iraqi Constitution and the Peshmerga. Article 140 calls on areas with large Kurdish population outside of the Kurdistan Region to hold referendums to decide whether they will join the Kurdistan Region. Othman told Asharq Al-Awsat that "the Kurdish leadership requires the agreement on the Kurdish negotiating document that is made up of 19 points prior to the announcement of the formation of the forthcoming government otherwise the Kurds will not participate in this government." He added that "the signing [of this 19-point document] has been delayed due to the participation of Kurdish negotiator Dr. Rose Nuri Shaways in his party's conference, and the preoccupation of other party's members with their consultation on ministerial portfolios which have yet to be resolved, therefore we expect the signing of this document to take place next week." Othman added that "the Iraqiya bloc continues to reject the two issues relating to Article 140 and the issue of the Peshmerga force. As for Article 140, they want this Article not to be mentioned in the signed agreement, with this instead being substituted with a reference to the problem of the disputed areas being solved constitutionally. As for the issue of the Peshmerga, they believe that so long as the Peshmerga receive their salaries, budget, and military equipment from the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, they should take their orders directly from the Ministry, rather than anybody else." 5. Does this have the potential to throw a wrench into the seating of the GOI?
  6. And the cool horse head watermark on the right. I think they feel "thin" because they're uncirculated and don't have the crumpled texture we're used to after currency has been battered about a bit.
  7. Return of confiscated Kuwati artifacts, the archives specifically, but there may be other things.
  8. Is it? I'm reading that there is still some fundamental disagreement between factions about who gets to do what, and to whom. Am I misreading?
  9. I apologize for my newbiness, but would someone please summarize this in American English? I think my head is about to explode trying to decipher the Iraqi syntax.
  10. Baghdad - The Iraqiya List announced on Wednesday that 10 of its members had defected in protest at party leader Iyad Allawi's choices for government posts, Iraqi news agencies reported. Allawi 'overrode' the mechanism the party had agreed to use to select candidates for the new government, and created his own list of candidates without party members' knowledge, Iraqiya member Gamal al- Bateekh told al-Sumarya news agency. http://www.monstersandcritics.com/news/middleeast/news/article_1605905.php/Iraqi-party-split-over-Allawi-s-moves-on-government-formation
  11. http://www.rabeesecurities.com/companies Take a look at Rabee Securities. Some of the International and Investment banks have suspended trading. There is a statement at the bottom that reads: "Suspended" companies are not trading due to General Assembly Meeting or ISX / ISC Instructions. Is this possibly of significance in readying for RV?
  12. Parliment meeting set for the 18th (which is tomorrow, US time)
  13. All right..... just finished! The real question of how Iraq is going to be able to meet its financial obligations and move ahead economically starts with the question at about 10:00 minutes in. There is a very good response that it is essential that Iraq resolve the final issues with Kuwait before the last of the Chapter 7 sanctions can be lifted and complete economic recovery begun. The Foreign Affairs Minister (and this guy is GOOD) explains what the DFI is and why it has been extended. They (Iraq) wanted it extended indefinintely, but the final extension is for 6 months (June 30). After that there are assurances from US govt that other means to meet outstanding liabilities and lawsuits will be in place. Another good piece of info exists at 2:45 into the recording. Be aware that part of the questions are in Arabic, but it is worthwhile to listen to the whole thing. He refers to Governor of Central Bank of Iraq (CBI), Shabbibi, being present and part of their delegation. This occurs during the last 30 seconds of the clip. Thanks for the posting, Smelty!!!!!
  14. I haven't yet gotten through the entire clip, but I encourage any of you who are interested in Iraq's reaction to the process of the UNSC meeting and the release from the three resolutions today to watch this link!! And this dude is MUCH more well spoken than Biden! If only the US could choose its spokespersons so well.
  15. But, my question is, what does Shabbibi and CBI hope to gain by waiting?
  16. Just extrapolating on this........ So Kuwait is going to push to keep sanctions on unless Iraq RV's. Iraq wants them lifted so they can trade, so it is push comes to shove? Is Kuwait going to win and get the RV now and all of Iraq's money, or are the rest of Chapter 7 going to be lifted (as Iraq hopes), which releases Iraq from under obligation to Kuwait, and then they can RV and enter the World Market. Am I even close?
  17. I'm just trying to get perspectives on what Shabbibi and the CBI have to gain by continuing to wait on the revalue? The downsides to waiting have been enumerated: gobbling up of existing currency, inability to trade internationally.... Help a newbie understand? Thanks.
  18. I'm sitting here waiting for mine too, Terry. Good luck! GO RV!! Momma needs a new pair of shoes!!!
  19. Channel 1 now says it will take place at 11est. Go to channel 1 right now. It looks like it is live. ETA: Never mind. That's not Iraq!!
  20. That alert is now gone. It is back to the rainbow screen. I think it was just a glitch.
