  1. It is my belief that this issue is the 800 lb. gorilla in the room preventing the exchange rate we want.

Central Bank of Iraq, with the US Treasury regarding the sanctions imposed on Iraqi banks or even the issue of financial transfers to Iran.

When the IQD reevaluate in a positive way, Iran will become very wealthy as others will. Is this why the U.S. is preventing it right now or is the U.S. preventing it!

    Thoughts??

  2. ISIS is still alive and well in Iraq and some neighboring countries. I fear if the U.S. pulls completely out, ISIS will get a strong hold again. Iran is also strong in Iraq and will most likely become stronger without a U.S. presence. If the U.S. is forced to leave, maybe they will still be close by and can go in and take care of business if needed. Just some ramblings this morning 🙄😊

This is the key phrase, in my opinion, for the whole article.

I don’t know if we will ever see a return on our hopes, dreams, and prayers with the dinar but I do believe It’s all about personal and/or party interests that control EVERYTHING that goes on in Iraq. I’ve been warned by people who have spent time in Iraq that the country is so corrupt that there will never be an agreement on anything due to the different power hungry factions. I am becoming a believer and feel about ready to cash in my chips. ☹️

imo i dont think they will be any different than america , digital and cash running side by side , the USA did set up the banking , my conjectures only .... cheers

Absolutely agree. I use a debit card extensively, BUT must have money in the bank to back up that card. Perhaps 2024 will be our year, surely will be nice. I hate to have to go cash in in a wheel chair 🤨😁

The Iraqi government is currently weighing the question of changing the currency so that the official cost of a US dollar will be 1.32 Iraqi dinars instead of 1,320 dinars. Implementing such a decision is likely to significantly increase Al Sudani’s popularity.

    is that .76 cents

In their “weighing”, I hope they actually decide to do it instead of just talking about it forever.

have researched pages and pages of wto requirements and have not read where a international tradeable currency is a requirement im still searching but sure would like to see it in print if anyone could point me to it

I’ve researched this topic some as well. I can’t find the phrase “international traded currency”, but I did find this info:

    https://www.wto.org/english/news_e/news12_e/s4_martin_sciences_po_e.pdf
I believe this info points to a WTO member’s currency must be “exchangeable” with the country with whom they are trading. Thoughts anyone?? Perhaps I’m reading more into the info than is actually there??

This is exactly what we need to do here in the US. These games are dangerous, devalue life, and stir harmful emotions - especially in the formative years. It is brainwashing and conditioning them. It desensitizes them to violence.

Yes!! I was just watching a news item about some of the horrible programs and the damage they are doing to many of our young people. What is wrong with us for allowing this??

  8. US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that he had made the decision regarding the nature of the response to the Jordan attack that killed 3 American soldiers and injured more than 30 others.

    blah blah blah.
A true Commander in Chief would keep his #*/.% mouth shut and take care of business properly. THEN maybe a press conference. He and his administration did not and does not plan to do one thing about our military being attacked, injured, and killed which, imo, encourages additional such attacks.

How many recall Reagan having a missle flown into Gaddafi’s living room? We had very little trouble from Gaddafi from that point on. I long for that kind of leadership.

The article title is misleading because it says they have returned when the article clearly says they will be returning.  Another year of blah, blah, blah.

I immediately went to WTO.org and couldn’t find any verification of any planned meetings on this subject. Perhaps I overlooked it so if anyone else finds it, please post. Iraq rejoining the WTO would be a huge step. IMO.
