  1. I don' t think this is his opinion. I think he just had a lot of time on his hands and he's just messin' with us.
  2. Those aren't the missing denominations that I've been told about but I appreciate the information. When I read your post I had to check your profile to make sure you aren't some quack or pumper. From what I read you sound legit and have even called people out on their suspicious intel which I was glad to see. Looking forward to your follow up.
  3. If I were to go to my dad in a time of need (which I did when I was young) he would give me enough to get by, but he would expect me to pay him back because he wouldn't want me to develop the habit of looking to other people for my needs. He would want me to become self-reliant. If I were to ask my dad for a big wad of money so that I could sit back and enjoy life without working he would likely tell me to get a job. No I don't think God wants us to live a pauper's (not poppers) life, but the bible clearly teaches that if you don't work you don't eat, and that the way to wealth is hard work, wisdom, and discipline. I never saw anywhere in the bible where God's people got rich by praying for a bonanza.
  4. My account got hacked. This avatar was put there in a cruel hoax. My people are looking into it. But seriously, I also thought Bush said it. I actually started off looking for the quote to back up what I assumed to be true. After countless hours of research I came to the conclusion that he didn't say it, and that people took the words of Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld and twisted them to misrepresent the Bush administration's policy and then it just kind of morphed into "Bush said the war will pay for itself." People like Chris Matthews repeated it so often that it just became part of our collective consciousness. But apparently he never said it because if he did it would certainly come up in a Google search. I mean the president of the US is a pretty quotable guy. It's easy to find direct quotes where Bush said "axis of evil" or "dead or alive" or "subliminable" or "misunderestimate". It's easy to reference where he said that Saddam was trying to buy uranium from Africa, or that he loathes Kim Jong Il. Why can't we find a direct quote on the Iraq war paying for itself? Because Bush never said it. It's that simple. Prove me wrong.
  5. So easyrider doesn't have a husband? Dang! I thought we had a real story here!
  6. Thanks for the link, Texhad. Now we have evidence supporting the view that Bush didn't say it. I would think that if he did say it there would be some evidence out there somewhere to support that fact. So far nobody has found it.
  7. Thanks for the post, aaanth. I appreciate all viewpoints, even the ones I don't like to hear. I have felt for some time that the biggest holdup is the security situation. It does seem that things are a bit too fragile and volatile right now to allow Iraq that kind of wealth when we don't even know if we will be able to keep troops there and ensure that it won't fall into the hands of radicals.
  8. GR clarified that by "the first of June" he meant up until June 10 so I'm going by what he said. 2 days left!
  9. Thanks. I think everybody did. Oh well!
  10. I have been searching for a year now to find a quote where Bush said that and I haven't found it yet. All I can find are references to Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz saying that Iraq's oil could help to pay for the reconstruction of Iraq. If anybody can find a quote where Bush said the war would pay for itself I'd like to see it. And please, no quotes from other people saying he said it. I'm talking about direct quotes from press conferences or speeches. Thanks.
  11. Okay, that might work for pheasants, but what about people?
  12. Hey, I'm a victim here! And shame on anybody who suggests otherwise.
  13. Hey! What happened to my avatar???? Somebody hacked my account!!! We gotta get to the bottom of this!
  14. I'm sure he's a nice guy but I don't think Okie could find an RV in a Winnebago Dealership.
  15. I agree. It's called closing the barn door after the horse got out. And for those of you who think we should do that here, there's a big difference. Comments aren't allowed on the rumors posted at DD, but they are at DV so we have ample opportunity to stomp on the rumor and the pumper behind it.
  16. I have heard this stated many times and I don't get it. Prior to the invasion of Kuwait the Iraqi dinar was worth $2-3 USD. Were their people millionaires then? I don't think so. We're talking about an exchange rate here. Iraqis would be no wealthier immediately following a $3 RV than they were 21 years ago IMO. The wealth will come as a result of the economic boom following the RV. I'm not predicting a $3 RV of course. I think it will be closer to $1. But even that would make Iraqis rich according to your logic. Am I wrong here?
  17. First of all "the plan" is mythical. It might exist and it might not. I have never seen any documentation of it, have you? So it's kind of hard for any of us to say that we understand it since its existence is only a rumor. Second, when did Shabibi say that Iraq could support $5-10? I've heard that he stated that when he was in Wyoming but I've never been able to find anything to confirm that. And third, the most valuable currency in the world is the Kuwaiti dinar at around $3.63. Their infrastructure is much more developed, their govt more stable, their security situation superior, and their GDP per capita is much higher. Those are all factors in assigning a rate to a currency. If you want to believe that a wartorn country with terrorist bombs going off and a dysfunctional government and sectarian division is going to have a currency valued at $1-6 more than Kuwait then go ahead. As far as I'm concerned anything over $1 is gravy.
  18. I like Phoenix. He's a little crazy but he does have some very interesting things to say and is more informed about Iraq than most gurus. You just need to filter out the astrology, doomsday, conspiracy stuff.
  19. No bashing from me, automag. Excellent crash course on Enorrste. I never knew what "enorrste" means but now I do. I have never encountered a more arrogant person in the world of the dinar. What gets me is the fact that his analysis is so often flawed and easily debunked. Once I read a post where he stated that Obama grew up in Chicago, Nixon was backed by the mafia, and that Nixon is today seen as one of the greatest presidents of the 20th century. In another post he stated that the demonstrations in Wisconsin were linked to the uprising in Arab nations like Libya, Egypt, Syria ... etc. But he didn't stop there. He then said that if you don't agree with him on that point you're blind and ignorant. And yet with both of these posts people were complimenting him on a great presentation of his views. I'll grant you he's a good writer. But there has to be more to good writing than writing skills. You also need to have a logical, factual argument in my opinion. And that's one thing he lacked in abundance. I appreciate your efforts to inform people about his background and ego. Keep up the good work.
  20. Interesting post, Zigs. I've had a similar experience myself. Although I was never an agnostic I have been through some conversions in my beliefs. I was raised Baptist and was baptized when I was 8. At 17 I met some kids from a Pentecostal church and became "Spirit-filled". I moved to Tulsa in 1982 to go to a charismatic bible school. After I graduated I got involved somewhat in ministry and began to notice some things. Many people who went to these charismatic megachurches were dirt poor and uneducated. They would drive their old dilapidated cars to church and throw their money at the ministers hoping to get their hundredfold return. I witnessed a lot of other nonsense that I won't go into and finally got fed up and started attending a Presbyterian church. There was no prosperity gospel preached there ... no gifts of the Spirit or laying on of hands or anything. And yet the people in that church were more prosperous than the people attending the prosperity teaching churches. That baffled me at first until I began to recognize that everybody there seemed to be a college graduate. Then a light came on. They just figured out how to use the brain that God gave them and didn't worry about any of the sensational supernatural stuff. Whereas you returned to your skeptical agnostic views I made a transition to a more liberal view of scripture. I no longer feel the need to interpret the bible literally and now I rely more on my own intellect and reasoning than I do on "miracles". I have no problem now with the theory of evolution. I no longer believe in talking snakes. And when somebody tells me that God spoke to them I default to a position of skepticism or even cynicism. That's why I'm not on board with this George Robinson guy. If his prophecy is right then I'm in trouble because I will have to go back to the drawing board on my theology I guess, and at the age of 54 I really don't want to do that. But if he's wrong it will further solidify my views. While I don't begrudge anybody their views or experiences I have accepted the fact that I am no longer an evangelical, fundamentalist, charismatic ... etc. I am a Christian who believes the bible is divinely inspired but written and interpreted by flawed human beings. It is a good book for matters of faith and morality but if used improperly it can really mess things up in practical day to day living. That's why I feel that people should leave religion out of this investment. I mean would somebody quote scripture and reveal what God said to them about buying into a mutual fund or real estate venture? Probably not, but because Iraq has a link to the biblical Babylon many feel that this is more than a speculative investment. It's a mission from God and fulfillment of prophecy. I often wonder if a lop happens what will happen to their faith? Nothing will happen to mine of course because it's totally separate from the dinar and every other investment I'm involved in.
  21. He has already been a guest on DD's Wed. night program and he stated that he primarily teaches forex trading to other doctors and isn't taking any more students on at this time. And he also stated that he wants an RV just like the rest of us because he owns plenty. So I don't see how this guy who stands to make perhaps millions with an RV would say no RV until late 2012 so he can make what? a hundred grand or so teaching forex trading? How much sense does that make? And as for his being a chiropractor how does that discredit his knowledge of currency trading? That's like saying that Scooter doesn't know anything because he's a software guy. And besides, he states clearly that the real expert is his source on Wall St. Go back and read all the bashing from last summer when Dr. J said that there would be no RV until October. (At that time his source was saying it wouldn't happen until mid Oct. That was revised in early Oct. when he informed us that it likely wouldn't be until 2012.) Ask Lambert and a few others about how they had to eat crow because they said that there was no way Iraq could hold out that long. And how many of you honestly thought last summer that you would still be waiting for the RV this summer? Some of you guys might be sitting here a year from now saying "guess Dr. J's source knew something that we didn't". I hope not but I don't intend to be the one eating crow if he's right. You gotta consider all opinions in an investment like this, especially the opinions of somebody whose track record is among the best.
