  1. Yes I agree... But this lady is beginning to wake up. Like a sleeping giant, she will be furious.. Finally, after a long deep slumber, she needs all the prayers we can muster up. GOD BLESS AMERICA.. Best Regards.
  2. Sorry folks, I was afraid to post the actual article due to copyright infringements. But it is quite interesting and points to an interview on Fox News with Darrell Issa regarding this issue. I thought it important enough to draw attention to it. Please do take the time to visit the page.\ Link below... 3. I personally suspect this info to be true. Especially given all of the dynamics that have played out lately. Particularly regarding the "Fast & Furious" ops. I can understand why the WH staff and family would be under a lot of stress. Either way, it is up to you to decide .. Best Regards ............................................................................ White House Insider: “They Are Crumbling In Amongst Themselves” by Ulsterman on September 28, 2011 with 58 Comments in News Don’t have much time, on the road, but I’ll try and answer as many of your questions as I can. After a prolonged absence, our longtime D.C. Insider sends us this message regarding the inner workings of the Obama White House, including an “eruption” from Michelle Obama, and an administration breaking under the strain of accumulating scandals and a disapproving American public. Regarding the dynamics of the White House at this time it is same as it ever was which is batsh-t crazy 24/7 in there. There was an episode involving the First Lady and a member of her staff that shook up everyone. It was a big enough deal it reached folks in Congress, who forwarded it on to some donors, who then had calls into Plouffe’s office wondering WTF was going on. The First Lady is being prepped as one of the few assets for the re-election campaign but those inside know she is as big a potential liability as anything associated with the administration. They are using her in controlled environments only. That’s the word from on high. What went down between her and the staff member wasn’t just a tantrum, or some shouting. It was put to me as being “an eruption”. Talking full on screaming here. Not the first time this kind of thing has happened. I’ve shared a bit of that w/you before but this was on another scale apparently. Put the WH on security alert for a brief time. It was that bad. No mention of the president’s involvement or reaction. He was apparently AWOL during the whole thing. First Lady is complaining a lot these days. LOUDLY. To everyone. Apparently a very unhappy woman. As for the president, he is simply seeking guidance. Any guidance. His moods are becoming more and more withdrawn once he leaves whatever stage they send him to. Here’s a description that came my way last week you might find interesting: Read more in News « Limbaugh Calls B.S. On Obama Heckler Scenario Fast and Furious Weapons Stash Found In El Paso » “President Obama finished the speech, walked off the stage, was escorted to the back corridor where he collapsed into a seat against the wall. Both hands went to each side of his head which was leaning down almost between his knees. You could see marks on the sides of his face where the stage makeup had been rubbed off by his hands. He wears that stuff everywhere these days. A staffer walked up and leaned over the president and told him it was time to go. The president looked up, gave a little smile, and got to his feet slowly. Very slowly. The only word he said was “Yeah.” There was no excitement. No energy from him. The people around the president seemed to ignore his condition. They looked right through him until he started walking down the hallway toward the outside. They followed alongside him and seemed to kind of push him out the door. The president looked incredibly tired. Used up.” That’s the dynamics of this White House. They are crumbling in amongst themselves. The donors, as I have been repeating to you for months, are getting more agitated and concerned each day. The president is being cornered and he doesn’t appear to have much fight left in him. Don’t take that as me being confident though. That makes him more dangerous than ever. He still has his hardliners around him. They will not give this up. Jarrett will break him apart if needed. Too much money on the line. They owe people. Pulling the plug is not an option for them. And while we have been working up the primary challenge against the president in the fall, I am hearing those bastards have been attempting to install a 3rd candidate scenario to split the vote. Not just idle talk, but actual negotiations having taken place. If they pull that off, well, I don’t know. We had not prepared for that scenario. It’s a long shot for them, but it put a scare in me. In all of us. Let our guard down there. More importantly at the moment though is Fast and Furious. The Solyndra thing was an unexpected surprise. Had nothing to do w/that but happy to see it out there. If it continues to get attention from the public that’s great. The more the merrier when it comes to scandals against this administration. I continue to see Fast and Furious as the much bigger deal for this White House though. That has everyone running interference at a level only seen when something very big and very dangerous to a president is hovering over an administration. You keep asking about Issa. At this point I don’t know. Information has been effectively shut down from his office. That either means a deal has been struck and some stooge will take the fall, or they are preparing to go all in on this thing. A Watergate type moment. At this point it’s one or the other. Holder has openly insulated himself and the president. Doing it so openly means he’s either very confident or very afraid. I am hoping its fear that is motivating him to cover his tracks right in front of everyone. Been told there is a memo, or was a memo, tying Fast and Furious directly to some kind of proposed gun control legislation or plan. Not certain how developed it was. Something that was pending . The memo is a direct link between the program and the gun control issue. An entire coordinated effort that required people to be killed. It is being talked about, but I have not seen it or spoken with anyone who has. So who knows? If it does exist and if Issa or someone comparable to him has it, then it implicates the administration at an entirely new level of corruption here. We’re talking about people marching on the White House and throwing them out on their ass. Either way, if Fast and Furious is to break out completely against this White House, it needs to happen soon, so we will have our answer either way. Will talk again. Not sure how soon. -Insider http://theulstermanreport.com/2011/09/28/white-house-insider-%E2%80%9Cthey-are-crumbling-in-amongst-themselves%E2%80%9D-2/
  4. There is nothing worse than being judged without a fair hearing. Unfortunately, in this age on unrestrained anger and striking out immediately at all perceived adversaries, we all sometimes make mistakes. You have been one of a handful that has consistently brought logic, truth, and patriotic issues, and helped unpack the decades of deceit perpetrated on Americans by people that only intend to harm us. I took away one of the negs, please, don't let a misunderstanding keep you from continuing to be engaged here. You have far too many friends and compatriots. There are many times when any of us feel the need to, and perhaps lash out at what may appear to have been some mispoken words. And no wonder, there is a lot of pressure in this country lately. After all, look what we have dragging us into, what I call a black hole! As far as waking people up, I certainly hope we can !! Before it is too late.. Thank You once again for your support. 6. Thank you Divemanster.. I was merely pointing out that the speaker of those words, AG Eric Holder.. Simply protests too much. YES, I too do personally agree STRONGLY with the 2nd Amendment. Sorry that some people seem to have taken my words and twisted them to suit their own sort of anger. Contrary to what a certain poster has written "What a BLOWHARD LIBERAL Socialist " I take this as a personal insult, AM NOT ANY OF THESE THINGS. Surely any of my previous postings will verify that. This person does not even know me, and obvioulsy has never read any of my postings. Best Regards

You need to apologise kid..for that is what you appear to be here with this kind of rhetoric. Best Regards.

  11. “LEAD FROM THE FRONT!” by John Sutherland, ©2011 The U.S. Constitution was created by representatives of the original 13 colonies (Oct. 6, 2011) — Dear Governors all, Unless there was massive voter and/or election fraud in your state elections, each and every one of you has been elected by your citizens to manage the executive branch of your state’s republic form of government to the best of your ability, and, according to the terms of your sworn oath of office, to defend and protect both your state constitution and the Constitution for the United States. It is your oath of office and your commitment to your citizens that I want to address here. People of your state are in the midst of witnessing the complete and utter destruction of our federal republic and several state governments at the hands of many dedicated progressive and Marxist enemies within our state and federal governments. Although this is largely happening at the federal level, and is happening after many years of preparation by our country’s enemies that include the international bankers, the wealthy and powerful elite, and several foreign governments, by your silence, you are complicit with this destruction. Be aware, aside from passage of the errant, and, some would argue, lawless Seventeenth Amendment, the states have never acceded to giving up any part of their sovereignty to the federal government. Certainly none of any state’s citizens have ever gone to their state government and said ‘We want to give up our state sovereignty to the federal government.’ In fact, in The Federalist No. 32 [Alexander Hamilton] – Concerning the General Power of Taxation (continued), we have this statement: An entire consolidation of the States into one complete national sovereignty would imply an entire subordination of the parts; and whatever powers might remain in them, would be altogether dependent on the general will. But as the plan of the convention aims only at a partial union or consolidation, the State governments would clearly retain all the rights of sovereignty which they before had, and which were not, by that act, exclusively delegated to the United States. As you well know, every state is under intense pressure to survive and thrive in today’s intense ‘social fairness’ environment. As you also know, every state which participates in promoting or supporting this progressive agenda of social fairness over constitutional law and order is doomed to failure. Every state which has chosen to violate the founding principles of this country is suffering in direct proportion to its internal lawlessness. Every state whose government is acceding its sovereign authority and its borders to illegal aliens and interlopers will fail as a sovereign state. So, when a Marxist, and probably alien, usurper POTUS states publicly that he wants to ‘radically transform’ the United States, and his every action subsequent to his alleged election as POTUS follows through on this pledge to destroy our system of government, why do you stand by and watch? Why do you, through your official capacity, do nothing to stop the wanton destruction of our sovereign states and our free republic? Are you involved in the destruction? Are you afraid of challenging the first mulatto POTUS? Why are you not looking out for the best interests of the legal citizens in your state – the people for whom you are working and for whom you owe allegiance? Why are you not helping by resuming control over the lawless and unconstitutional federal government that the states themselves created in 1787? Look, I know these are tough times, but they don’t have to be this way, nor do they have to stop us from practicing reason, logic, and common sense in protecting and defending the sovereignty and self-sufficiency of our states. I’m not a governor, nor would I ever be elected as a governor, but I do have a few suggestions. 1.If, indeed, the Federal Reserve Bank, i.e., the central bank, is the root of all financial evil as many charge, why do you choose to use the Fed for your state banking? There is nothing to prevent you from creating your own state bank as North Dakota has done successfully, and simply assume financial control over your own state’s economy. 2.Remove the unconstitutional state regulations and restrictions from your citizens and from businesses in your state. Nothing supports success like the concept of individual freedom and liberty. Why do you hold back your people and your businesses and not let them flourish in freedom? 3.We are all quite aware that the federal government is hopelessly corrupt and unlawful in its operations. The congress is corrupt. The executive branch now Marxists and is hopelessly corrupt. The SCOTUS does not decide constitutionally on legal matters any more. The states created the federal government – the states must make it perform legally, or replace it with a lawful federal government. Maybe you can’t do this unilaterally, but certainly a combination of states have huge control over the federal government. Just do it. Do it for your people in your state. Stop the federal madness. 4. Some states are showing token resistance against the federal tyrants, but that isn’t enough. The feds have to be stopped in their tracks. The federal agencies that now rule state individuals and businesses are circumventing our laws. Nullify their actions. Tell the feds to go away and come back when they are lawful and constitutional. Control the errant agencies – don’t stand down and let them run amok in our states. 5.Force your state’s senators and representatives and courts to abide by your state’s laws. Do the same with your towns and counties. The criminal lawlessness and corruption in Monroe County, Tennessee against an honorable American veteran are shameless, and a pox on the whole state of Tennessee. Don’t allow this kind of corruption to happen in your own state. There are obviously many more suggestions that I or any other thinking person can make, but the message is clear – we are suffering as states and as a country because our laws are not being obeyed by members of our government. The progressives and the communists have made their point clearly – they can successfully penetrate and destroy our country, and they are doing just that. Don’t let this happen. Abide by your oath of office and become a lawful freedom fighter for your people. Your time in office is limited – be remembered as the governor who did the right thing for his/her people. Remember, if the people’s elected representatives don’t solve problems within government, and the people try to solve the problems themselves, things will get resolved in a much messier fashion. None of us want that. Forget the party politics and the control wishes of your party leaders and the unelected power elite, and just Do The Right Thing For Your Citizens. Obey our laws. Enforce our laws on state and federal government agencies and individuals. Lead from the front! The people will do the rest. www.thepostemail.com ### ### ### ### ### ### Best Regards

  13. Where are our rights ? No habeas corpus? Due process? And the slippery slope gets slimier and slimier.. Best Regards ................................................ WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama steered the nation's war machine into uncharted territory Friday when a U.S. drone attacked a convoy in Yemen and killed two American citizens who had become central figures in al-Qaida. It was believed to be the first instance in which a U.S. citizen was tracked and executed based on secret intelligence and the president's say-so. And it raised major questions about the limitations of presidential power. Anwar al-Awlaki, the target of the U.S. drone attack, was one of the best-known al-Qaida figures after Osama bin Laden. American intelligence officials had linked him to two nearly catastrophic attacks on U.S.-bound planes, an airliner on Christmas 2009 and cargo planes last year. The second American killed in the drone attack, Samir Kahn, was the editor of Inspire, a slick online magazine aimed at al-Qaida sympathizers in the West. Late Friday, two U.S. officials said intelligence indicated that the top al-Qaida bomb-maker in Yemen also died in the strike. Ibrahim al-Asiri is the bomb-maker linked to the bomb hidden in the underwear of a Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a plane over Detroit on Christmas Day 2009. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because al-Asiri's death has not officially been confirmed. Authorities also believe he built the bombs that al-Qaida slipped into printers and shipped to the U.S. last year in a nearly catastrophic attack. Christopher Boucek, a scholar who studies Yemen and al-Qaida, said al-Asiri was so important to the organization that his death would "overshadow" the news of al-Awlaki and Khan. In announcing al-Awlaki's death, Obama said, "Al-Qaida and its affiliates will find no safe haven anywhere in the world." "Working with Yemen and our other allies and partners, we will be determined, we will be deliberate, we will be relentless, we will be resolute in our commitment to destroy terrorist networks that aim to kill Americansm" he said. Republicans and Democrats alike applauded the decision to launch the fatal assault on the convoy in Yemen. "It's something we had to do," said Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. "The president is showing leadership. The president is showing guts." "It's legal," said Maryland Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee. "It's legitimate and we're taking out someone who has attempted to attack us on numerous occasions. And he was on that list." That list is the roster of people the White House has authorized the CIA and Pentagon to kill or capture as terrorists. The evidence against them almost always is classified. Targets never know for sure they are on the list, though some surely wouldn't be surprised. The list has included dozens of names, from little-known mid-level figures in the wilds of Pakistan to bin Laden, who was killed in his compound in a comfortable Pakistani suburb. Before al-Awlaki, no American had been on the list. But the legal process that led to his death was set in motion a decade ago. On Sept. 17, 2001, President George W. Bush signed a presidential order authorizing the CIA to hunt down terrorists worldwide. The authority was rooted in his power as commander in chief, leading a nation at war with al-Qaida. The order made no distinction between foreigners and U.S. citizens. If they posed a "continuing and imminent threat" to the United States, they were eligible to be killed, former intelligence officials said. The order was reviewed by top lawyers at the White House, CIA and Justice Department. With the ruins of the World Trade Center still smoking, there was little discussion about whether U.S. citizens should have more protection, the officials recalled, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter. The feeling was that the government needed — and had — broad authority to find and kill terrorists who were trying to strike the U.S. The CIA first faced the issue in November 2002, when it launched a Predator drone attack in Yemen. An American terror suspect who had fled there, Kamal Derwish, was killed by Hellfire missiles launched on his caravan. The Bush administration said Derwish wasn't the target. The attack was intended for Yemeni al-Qaida leader Abu Ali al-Harithi. But officials said even then that, if it ever came to it, they had the authority to kill an American. "I can assure you that no constitutional questions are raised here. There are authorities that the president can give to officials," Condoleezza Rice, Bush's national security adviser, said. "He's well within the balance of accepted practice and the letter of his constitutional authority." Al-Awlaki had not then emerged as a leading al-Qaida figure. Before the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, the New Mexico-born cleric had been a preacher at the northern Virginia mosque attended briefly by two hijackers. He was interviewed but never charged by the FBI. But at the CIA, the officers in charge of finding targets knew it was only a matter of time before they would set the Predator drone's high-definition sights on an American. "We knew at some point there would have to be a straight call made on this," one former senior intelligence official said. It was Obama who ultimately made that call. After the failed Christmas bombing, the Nigerian suspect told the FBI that he had met with al-Awlaki and said he was instrumental in the plot. Al-Awlaki had also called for attacks on Americans and had attended meetings with senior al-Qaida leaders in Yemen. Al-Awlaki had gone from an inspirational figure to an operational leader, officials said. In April 2010, the White House added al-Awlaki's name to the kill-or-capture list. Senior administration officials said they reviewed the Bush administration's executive order and discussed the ramifications of putting an American on the list but said it was a short conversation. They concluded that the president had the authority, both under the congressional declaration of war against al-Qaida and international law. "Anwar al-Awlaki is acting as a regional commander for al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters in August 2010. What if the U.S. was wrong, Gibbs was asked, what recourse does a citizen have to save himself? The CIA had misidentified and imprisoned the wrong person before. Gibbs sidestepped the question. The U.S. has been inconsistent in how it describes al-Awlaki. The Treasury Department called him a leader of al-Qaida in Yemen. FBI Director Robert Mueller called him the leader. On Friday, Obama called him "the leader of external operations," the first time he has been described that way. When word leaked out that al-Awlaki's name was on the list, his family rushed to court to try to stop the government from killing him, saying he had to be afforded the constitutional right to due process. The idea of killing an American citizen provided critics with fodder for all sorts of comparisons showing the peculiarities of national security law and policy. The government could not listen to al-Awlaki's phone calls without a judge's approval, for instance, but could kill him on the president's say-so. The Obama administration opposed imprisoning terrorist suspects without due process but supported killing them without due process. "If the Constitution means anything, it surely means that the president does not have unreviewable authority to summarily execute any American whom he concludes is an enemy of the state," ACLU lawyer Ben Wizner said Friday. U.S. District Judge John Bates refused to intervene in al-Awlaki's case. "This court recognizes the somewhat unsettling nature of its conclusion — that there are circumstances in which the executive's unilateral decision to kill a U.S. citizen overseas is 'constitutionally committed to the political branches' and judicially unreviewable," Bates wrote. "But this case squarely presents such a circumstance." Like Derwish years ago, Khan, a North Carolina native, was called collateral damage in the drone attack, not the target. Al-Awlaki may have been the perfect test case for the government. His sermons in English are posted all over the Internet and his name has been associated with several attempted terrorist attacks. In the intelligence community, many regarded him as a bigger threat than bin Laden because of his ability to inspire Westerners and his focus on attacking the U.S. But in taking this step, the Obama administration raised questions about whom else the president has the authority to kill. In principle, such an attack could probably not happen inside the United States because the CIA is forbidden from operating here and the military is limited in what operations it can carry out domestically. But civil rights groups have questioned whether the government has opened the door to that possibility. At the White House, spokesman Jay Carney refused to even acknowledge the government's direct role in killing al-Awlaki. He repeatedly ducked questions about the extent of Obama's authority and said only that al-Awlaki had been an operational leader for al-Qaida. "Is there going to be any evidence presented?" Carney was asked. "You know, I don't have anything for you on that," he responded. King, the Republican lawmaker, said it was necessary that the president to have the authority to act against those at war with the U.S. And it was no secret to the public, he said, that al-Awlaki was at war. But he acknowledged that it set a precedent that could make people uncomfortable. "There could be a situation where nobody knows the evidence, where you're relying on the government to say what its intelligence is," King said. "With al-Awlaki, it was clear-cut. He made it a clear call." http://news.yahoo.com/killing-americans-uncharted-ground-attack-212335475.html ___ Associated Press writers Kimberly Dozier and Adam Goldman in Washington and Brian Witte in Annapolis, Md., contributed to this report.

  18. appologies for the Shi***er remark, but this report is directly from the can! Pun intended... ................................................................................................. Department of Homeland Security attacked by it's own toilets Wednesday, September 28, 2011 Just when you thought working for an unconstitutional, globally hated, big brother-like, paramilitary organization couldn't get any shittier, the toilets go and explode while your in the process of detonating some internal bombs of your own. Two Department of Homeland Security employees were injured on Monday when the toilets they were using in the General Services Administration building exploded, sending one employee to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, I'm assuming to the ass. Building administrators sent out a memo to building employees explaining what happened and warned them not to use the bathrooms in the building: "DO NOT flush toilets or use any domestic water. Due to a mechanical failure, there is high air pressure in the domestic water system that resulted in damage to toilets. The engineering staff is working to correct the issue," the memo read, according to WUSA-TV. "There has been damage to flushed toilets that has resulted in injuries. We will announce when the issue is resolved." According to this hard hitting report by The Washington Post, the toilets are back in working condition and an investigation is underway to get to the bottom of the domestic toilet attack. GSA spokesman William Marshall Jr. issued a statement Monday night describing a “building mechanical incident” that injured at least one employee. By Tuesday night, after the exploding toilet story had gone viral on the Internet (a symbol of Washington dysfunction?), the statement was re-issued with assurances that the toilets were working again. The incident is “under investigation” to prevent it from happening again, the statement said. http://www.politicalfailblog.com/2011/09/department-of-homeland-security.html Best Regards
  19. Former Governor also selects July 4th 2012 as national no fly day Paul Joseph Watson Infowars.com Wednesday, September 28, 2011 Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura has called for a nationwide boycott of the NFL in response to its announcement that attendees to all football games will be groped TSA-style, while Ventura also launched a campaign for a national no fly day set to take place on July 4th 2012. Ventura responded to the news about the NFL announcing they would carry out TSA-style pat downs by telling the Alex Jones Show that such measures are already commonplace at many sports venues. “I’m a season ticket holder with the Minnesota Lynx, the women’s basketball team, and two times they’ve stopped me to wand me. The first one the guy stopped me because I had my wallet and my keys in my front pocket, and he stopped me and said ‘excuse me what’s in your front pocket’ – and I looked at the kid and I said ‘I’m the damn Governor’ – I said ‘don’t make me have to sue you like I’m suing TSA’. I said ‘what difference does it make I used to be the Governor here, use some common sense young man’, and I chewed his ass out,” said Ventura “I advocate a boycott of the National Football League and leave their stadiums empty,” said Ventura, adding, “That’s what this country needs to do to rise up – we the people have to start speaking back…. how about a day of the year where nobody flies, I would love to see that happen.” Ventura then went on to select July 4th 2012 as the date for a national campaign when Americans would refuse to fly in protest against the TSA. “We’re supposed to be a country of the people, by the people and for the people, not them, right now we’re subservient to the government – our forefathers did not have that in mind, that’s not what this country was supposed to be, the government was supposed to be subservient to us,” he stated. “Why is it the government’s job to provide security for the airlines when the airlines are a private sector business?” asked Ventura. “Why not have the airlines provide their own security?” Ventura also echoed similar concerns made public by Ron Paul, that the federal government was preparing to use the problem of illegal immigration to erect checkpoints on all major highways and force Americans to accept a national ID card. Ventura is currently engaged in a legal battle in a bid to sue the TSA for groping him during an incident last November. Ventura’s stance has put his career under threat – he has considered abandoning travel by air altogether if TSA pat-down policies are not amended. Ventura is constantly subjected to harassment by TSA workers when he travels as a result of his hip replacement which routinely sets off metal detectors. A federal judge is currently deliberating on whether the case will go to trial, a long delay that Ventura and his lawyer suspect may mean that the trial will proceed. “Any case like this has been ruled upon faster than this one, this is the longest any judge has held on to a case, I can state that unequivocally,” said Ventura, adding that it has been over two months since he last appeared in court over the issue. Ventura has vowed to call a press conference if his case is thrown out and he is denied a jury trial. ********************* Paul Joseph Watson is the editor and writer for Prison Planet.com. 22. If and when we see the RV, - - - - - - I would like to see a group from DV help fund a Class Action law suit against Monsanto, unite all the farmers who’s crops have been contaminated by there GMO’s, also unite the farmers who have been and are being sued by Monsanto, and turn the tables completely around on these bastards. Read more: YES !!! Best Regards
  23. What the article doesn't mention is that the US Fed gov holds the joint patent with Monsanto. That is why they allowed "test" crops to be planted next to working farms. Monsanto then claimed ownership of a genome in the DNA strand, and since every nearby farms crops were cross pollinated, the crops now were owned by Monsanto. Read more: Thank you DM.. Although I did not know about the US Fed gov and their cozy relationship they have with Monsanto, I am well aware of their practices. Both of them ! This additional information begs for all of us to read and study the Constitution. We The People have not been pressing our Congress hard enough, and demanding they follow its course. We all need to stay attentive and work together, and try to undo what Monsanto have sown for us. Make THEM reap what THEY sow!! Monsanto OUT ! Organic IN !! Best Regards
  24. Hungary Destroys All Monsanto GMO Corn Fields Posted By Dr. Mercola | August 09 2011 | 110,421views In March, Hungary introduced a new regulation that states seeds must be checked for GMO before they are introduced to the market. However, some GMO seeds made it to the farmers without their being aware of it. As a result, almost 1,000 acres of maize found to have been grown with genetically modified seeds have been destroyed throughout Hungary. The deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development Lajos Bognar said that the GMO maize has been ploughed under, and pollen has not spread from the maize. Planetsave reports: "Unlike several EU members, GMO seeds are banned in Hungary. The checks will continue despite the fact that seed traders are obliged to make sure that their products are GMO free, Bognar said." The United States, meanwhile, is beginning to see the consequences of widely planted GMOs. In the mid-'90s, Monsanto introduced seeds genetically engineered to withstand its Roundup brand of herbicide. Today, these "Roundup Ready" crops are planted all across the U.S. -- 94 percent of soybeans and more than 70 percent of corn and cotton contain the Roundup-resistant gene. But when the land is dosed with a single herbicide for years on end, the ecosystems adapt. Roundup-defying "superweeds" are getting out of control. And the problem is only accelerating, because the resistant weeds are driving out their non-resistant counterparts. According to Mother Jones: "These weeds adapt faster and more vigorously than their weed cousins, choking fields and clogging irrigation ditches so badly water can't pass through." Dr. Mercola's Comments: The news that Hungary recently destroyed nearly 1,000 acres of corn crops because they were found to be mistakenly grown with genetically modified (GM) seeds should be a major wake-up call to anyone in the United States and elsewhere who believes GM (genetically modified) crops are harmless. The discovery that the farmland was planted with GM seeds came when the season was already underway, so the harvest has been completely lost for this year. What would prompt the Hungarian government to take such a drastic step? Perhaps it is the fact that GM crops simply cannot be contained, and inevitably will contaminate the environment with GM DNA. Or it could be that they do not want superweeds, triggered by the overuse of Roundup herbicide on GM Roundup Ready crops, overtaking their farmland the way they are now doing in the United States. Then again, it could be the unknown threats to human health -- and the fact that new research shows toxins from GM crops are now appearing in human blood -- that made them think twice. Either way, they are clearly well educated about the dangers of GM foods … which is a lesson the U.S. government still needs to learn. Why Rogue Planting of GM Seeds is a Very Big Deal GM corn, soybeans, canola, and sugar beets have made their way into approximately 80 percent of current U.S. processed grocery store items, now that up to 90 percent of several U.S.-grown crops are grown with genetically engineered seed. So if you live in the United States, you have most certainly already been exposed to GM foods -- most likely a lot of them. So it may make you angry, or at least curious, to know that in Hungary, the government just destroyed crops that were grown with GM seeds and plowed the corn under so the pollen could not spread. You see, GM seeds are banned in Hungary, as they are in several other European countries, such as Germany and Ireland. These countries have chosen NOT to allow their people to be used as guinea pigs in a massive experiment on the food supply, which is essentially what the introduction of GM crops is. Although Monsanto, the world leader in GM seeds, insists that GM foods are no different from conventionally grown varieties, the research in existence begs to differ. Here is just a sampling of the unsavory findings associated with GM foods: GM peas caused lung damage in mice Offspring of rats fed GM soy showed a five-fold increase in mortality, lower birth weights, and the inability to reproduce GM potatoes may cause cancer in rats Male mice fed GM soy had damaged young sperm cells Bacteria in your gut can take up DNA from GM food The embryo offspring of GM soy-fed mice had altered DNA functioning GM foods lead to significant organ disruptions in rats and mice, specifically the kidney, liver, heart and spleen Several U.S. farmers reported sterility or fertility problems among pigs and cows fed on GM corn varieties Bt corn caused a wide variety of immune responses in mice, commonly associated with diseases such as arthritis, Lou Gehrig's disease, osteoporosis, and inflammatory bowel disease Investigators in India have documented fertility problems, abortions, premature births, and other serious health issues, including deaths, among buffaloes fed GM cottonseed products GM Crops Have Already Overtaken U.S. Farmland There are movements underway around the globe pressuring governments for a moratorium on untested GM seeds and foods, yet the United States is giving Monsanto free reign, aiding and abetting their agenda -- even though most Americans do not want GMOs. But the U.S. government is plowing ahead, and allowing virtually all of Monsanto's GM crops and related chemicals to call the United States their home, despite minimal testing and widespread concern. Most recently, the USDA approved planting of GM alfalfa, the fourth-largest crop in the United States, without restriction, despite massive opposition and serious concerns that its potential to cross-pollinate and transfer genetic material is very high, if not guaranteed. Because it's a natural forage for pastured (organically raised grass-fed) animals, contamination would be disastrous for organic dairy- and cattle farmers, as federal organic standards forbid them from using GM crops (not to mention Monsanto's history of suing both conventional and organic farmers for patent infringement should their crops be cross-contaminated). This could essentially make true "organic" food, which by definition should be GM-free, a virtual impossibility. If you're wondering why the United States leads the world in GM crop acreage, it's because the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the FDA are heavily influenced by Monsanto, which spends millions of dollars lobbying the U.S. government for favorable legislation that supports the spread of their toxic products every year. In the first quarter of 2011 alone, Monsanto spent $1.4 million on lobbying the federal government – and this was a drop from a year earlier, when they spent $2.5 million during the same quarter. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the USDA, and the U.S. Trade Representative all have a special set of revolving doors leading straight to Monsanto, which has allowed this transnational giant to gain phenomenal authority and influence. Monsanto's 'Superweeds' Gallop through the Midwest One of the consequences of this cozy relationship is now surfacing as superweeds make their way across the Midwest. Massive acreage of soybeans, cotton, and corn grown in the United States contain the GM Roundup Ready gene -- and all of these crops receive numerous applications of Monsanto's Roundup each and every year. But Roundup is proving to be no match for Mother Nature. It's estimated that more than 130 types of weeds spanning 40 U.S. states are now herbicide-resistant, and the superweeds are showing no signs of stopping. As Mother Jones reported: " … in what is surely the least surprising, most-anticipated major development in the history of US agriculture, farmers are discovering that when you spend years dousing land [with] a single herbicide, ecosystems adapt. Roundup Ready crops, meet Roundup-defying weeds. … the USDA openly acknowledges the superweed problem and even delivered a pretty good explainer on it in its environmental impact statement on Roundup Ready alfalfa. Yet it keeps deregulating or choosing not to regulate at all new Roundup Ready crops, all of them quite widely planted. This year alone, the agency has green-lighted Roundup Ready versions of alfalfa (a major cow feed); sugar beets (source of half of US sugar), and most recently, Kentucky bluegrass (popular lawn turf). These dubious USDA decisions will likely bring millions more acres—including lawns, parks, and golf courses near you—under the Roundup Ready domain." On a slightly brighter note, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is finally looking into the damaging effects of glyphosate (the key ingredient in Roundup) on humans and the environment and plans to make a decision regarding its future by 2015. At that time, Roundup could either continue to be used as it is now, be required to have some modifications to its use or be banned from use entirely in the United States. You Can Fight Back Against GM Foods If you do not live in Hungary or another country that is operating the precautionary principle regarding GM foods, it doesn't mean you have to be a helpless guinea pig in this giant experiment. In fact, the time to take action against them is now, as there are signs that consumer advocates are making a difference and public disclosure and debate is urgently needed. For instance, on May 20, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a summary order in favor of farmers and consumer advocates, requiring the USDA to prepare a rigorous environmental study of the impacts of GM sugar beets. Once that review is done, the Court will decide whether GM sugar beets may be grown for commercial use. The USDA has estimated it will complete the Environmental Impact Statement sometime in 2012. Organic farmers and food advocates are also fighting back with a lawsuit aimed at preventing GM alfalfa from being unleashed. I believe the sooner you get involved, the sooner we will persevere and eliminate these toxic threats in the United States and other parts of the world. We will require loads of education to be effective, however, as many are still completely clueless about GM foods and have no idea that they're eating them every day, and have been eating them for years! If you're eating CAFO (confined animal feeding operation) meats and processed foods that are not 100% USDA organic, you're eating GMO's. It's that simple. The answer is to buy organic, and/or look for foods that are "non-GMO certified" by the Non-GMO Project. For your convenience, download this Non-GMO Shopping Guide, and share it with everyone you know. Although GM foods still do not require labeling by law, the campaign for GMO labeling is making progress, thanks to the persistence of Jeffrey Smith and the Institute for Responsible Technology, an organization whose goal is to end the genetic engineering of our food supply and the outdoor release of GM crops. If you like, you can join the fight by signing the petition to President Obama in support of mandatory labeling of GM foods. By educating the public about the risks of GM foods through a massive education campaign, and by circulating the Non-GMO Shopping Guide so consumers can make healthier non-GMO choices, the Institute's plan is to generate a tipping point of consumer rejection to make GMOs a thing of the past.
