    RV News

Has anyone seen this?!?!? http://loftgolf.net/blog/?p=511 PS. C.M mentioned in the blog is the person that wrote this post. You never know who's posting here and what their intentions are. Be careful!
  2. What most people don't understand is that contractors in Iraq do a whole lot more than you can imagine. You don't know who AC is and what he does. From his letters you can definitely see that he is not just another laborer out here (no offence to any labor people, this is just for comparison purposes). The government and the military rely heavily on civilian contractors. Walk through any base out here and you will see more civilians walking around than military. We should all be thankful that he even gives us some of the information that he knows, sees and hears. None of us want to hear that there will be no RV in May 2011, but fact of the matter is that he is probably right. Stop living in denial.... "Denial is a common tactic that substitutes deliberate ignorance for thoughtful planning." - CHARLES TREMPER
  3. Serbian currency is called Dinar. They are talking about Serbian Dinar not Iraqi Dinar.
  4. Article from 2007 but a very good read IMHO. >>>>Clearing up the smoke screen. Iraqi Dinar duringSaddam was not open to trade. It was pegged at $3.22. A number pulled by Saddamperhaps from the thin air. It wasn'treal. The New Iraqi Dinar (IQD) was introduced in 2003 by theCoalition Provisional Authority. At this moment it'll cost you more than IQD 1,200to buy 1 USDollar. A very weak currency, it is. >>>>The Reality So you don't expect the Dinar to raise to its 1982 peg. So youthink a rise of a cent of IQD value will give you large profit. Theoreticallyyou are right. But. But, Iraqi Dinar isnot freely traded. At this moment it is not being used in any significant internationaltransaction. There are very few (I am tempted to say none, but lets beoptimistic) bank or foreign exchangers that are willingto exchange Dinar outside Iraq. If you check thesites offering "better future" by IQD investments, they only sell IQD not buy them. >>>>To Buy Or Not To Buy. I have an easy answer to this but lets see the options. 1. You cannot getrich quick with IQD investment. Even if the IQD value rises 2,3 cents after youbought them. Not in the near future. The reason is no exchanger is buying it atthe moment. You can try to sell them to other potential "investors" at E-Baythough, if you are lucky enough. 2. There is apossibility of the IQD value gaining momentum and raising in value and finallybe traded. If this happens, you can probably retire early, as soon as you sell all yourIQD. But this will not happen anytime soon. It will take time, a lot. 5, 6, 7, 8years. Probably more. 3. Scenario (2) might never happen. Because no matter how low acurrency value sank, it can always sink lower. So, if you have money that you can absolutely afford tolose, you can buy and keep the IQD. Sometimes you might be able to make it bigwith it. If you are, however, looking for short term, low riskinvestment, look elsewhere. http://www.helium.co...-in-iraqi-dinar
  5. Isn't US Dollar all the same color?
  6. WOW!!! Hope those are real!!!! Please let it be real!!!!
  7. AC has been around for a very long time and has never been the one to proclaim date or rate. He was always straight forward and kept his cool. Last year he was one of the very few that said there would be no RV in 2010 and caught hell for it. He was correct. He has a +1 in my book.
  8. Wow! Westernization does wonders... If this trend takes off, in about 20 years all women will be walking around burqa and hijab free in bootie shorts... LOL....
  9. No problem, hope this means something as I remember some members mentioning inflation rate being relevant to RV....
  10. Economic: increased operating expenses in the budget raised the rate of inflation Date: Monday 04/25/2011 14:27 Baghdad (news) .. ills, an economist Riad return of high inflation due to increased operating expenses in the budget. He said in a statement to the return (of the Agency news) said on Monday: When you invest for the purposes of the operating budget rather than investment or production makes inflation increase from one month to another, noting that Iraq today is directed towards consumption, and this is another reason to increase inflation. He said the return: that the entry of foreign investment companies is a positive indicator of investment which might reduce inflation, but we did not notice a real productive so far. It is expected that the annual inflation rate remains in Iraq without (10%) in the (2011), thanks to the government ration program, which accounts for some of the food price increases. / Finished / (12). http://www.ikhnews.c...n=view&id=12355
  11. If you are getting paid 65K a year you are getting ripped off. No position I know of starts that low. And yes, the new entry visa is $202 in cash, crisp bills preferably according to the BIAP immigration. Hilarious.
  12. Sadoun: “Blocs might possibly approve security candidates” 01/04/2011 10:30:00 Baghdad (NINA) –The Kurdistani Alliance’s MP Mohsin al-Sadoun pointed out that “The political blocs might possibly reach a settlement to approve the candidates for the security ministries.” He stated to the National Iraqi News Agency Friday “The blocs realized that this issue took a long time and the deteriorated security situation urge MPs to settle the issue of the candidates for the security ministries.” “The CVs of all candidates are now available for all MPs and the only thing left is to set a date for a vote on them by the Chairmanship of the Parliament,” he added. The Premier Nouri al-Maliki has presented the nominees to assume posts of Interior, Defense and Planning ministries on last Monday, March 28, in order to be approved by Parliament. The nominees are: Ibrahim Mohammed al-Lami for the MoI, Khalid Muteb al-Ubaidy for the MoD and Ali Abdul Nabi for the Planning Ministry. It is worth mentioning that Erbil Agreement among the Blocs gave the right for the Iraqiya Slate to nominate a candidate for the MoD, while the National Coalition has the right to nominate the ministers of Interior and National Security. Maliki is the Act Minister for the three security ministries of Defense, Interior and National Security. /End/ http://www.ninanews....?ar95_VQ=FGDFDL

    IRAQ CONTRACTOR

All is true except the fact that contractors are being given a choice between USD and IQD. None of the companies here that I know of offer that. There was a story going around about 6 months ago that all USD was going to be pulled from use on all bases and only IQD was to be used. I wonder what happened to that....

  16. You are so right! I was so excited reading the post until I saw this sentence "If everything goes perfectly, and I don’t believe that it will, we could see these actions implemented by the IMF at the end of 2008. " Then I got disappointed and realized that he couldn't have written this. Sooooo disappointed.... I was the biggest Rudy believer until this and now....
  17. Iraq and Syria restore diplomatic ties Syrian President Bashar al-Assad ® and Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-MalikiReuters By RFI Iraq and Syria agree to restore full diplomatic relations by sending their respective ambassadors back to their posts. The two neighbours are patching up relations after a spat in 2009 when Iraq accused Syria of sheltering insurgents. Iraq’s foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari and his Syrian counterpart met on the sidelines at the UN General Assembly in New York. He told him his government had agreed to send back their ambassador to Damascus. Relations between the two neighbours have warmed in recent times. Earlier this week, Iraq and Syria reached an agreement to build two pipelines linking Iraq to Mediterranean sea ports for the export of crude. The two pipelines will have a combined capacity of 2.75 million barrels of oil per day, but projected costs and a timeline will only be set once a study has been carried out. Overall bilateral relations between Iraq and Syria have improved since the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime, which often accused Syria of trying to destabilise Iraq. But efforts to boost post-Hussein ties were thrown into disarray last year when Baghdad accused Syria of harbouring two Baathist leaders who had plotted a devastating attack in the Iraqi capital. 20. Iraq election winner rules out working with PM (AFP) – 3 hours ago BAGHDAD — The winner of Iraq's March election has ruled out participating in any new government led by current Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, his bloc said. The decision by ex-premier Iyad Allawi's Iraqiya faction, which narrowly defeated Maliki's grouping in the polls, further dampens hopes of any upcoming formation of a new administration. "Iraqiya believes the current type of government headed by Maliki cannot be repeated, so Iraqiya will not take part in any government headed by him," the bloc said in a statement released late on Friday. Iraqiya, a broadly secular coalition which drew most of its support from Sunni areas, won 91 seats out of the 325-member parliament in the March 7 polls, two more than Maliki's State of Law Alliance, a Shiite grouping. Neither came close to winning an overall majority, and no new government has been formed since, though Allawi insists his grouping should have the first opportunity to form a coalition. In that time, State of Law has joined forces with the election's third bloc, the Iraqi National Alliance, a coalition of Shiite religious groups, though this has not yet been officially recognised. Iraqiya also said on Saturday it regarded the newly formed National Alliance as "a desperate attempt to strengthen political sectarianism". The deadlock has coincided with Washington's declaration that combat operations in Iraq have officially ended, and fed fears the political vacuum could offer an opening to extremists to further destabilise the country. US Secretary of State Hillarious Clinton said during talks in New York on Thursday with her Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari that Iraq needed to form a government and avoid creating a security vacuum.
