Iraq is working tolimit the ration card with 2.5 million people

Baghdad, January 25 (Rn) - The Parliamentary Committee onEconomics on Wednesday it has developed a plan to determine the number ofIraqis who actually needs the ration card items, stressing that the planexpires in 2015 and seeks to reduce the number of beneficiaries to 2.5 millionpeople.

Iraq Sees Growth InIts Oil Industry In 2011, Will Continue Into 2012

Iraq’s oil industry saw three important trends in 2011.First, exports were up nearly 200,000 barrels a day over the previous year’saverage. More importantly, because of unrest in the Middle East, the price forIraqi crude consistently stayed over $100 a barrel for the entire year, whichadded an extra $2 billion a month in profits for the country. At the same time,foreign sales hit a plateau, because of Iraq’s aging infrastructure. That couldchange this year as a new terminal is coming into operation, and two more maybe working by the end of 2012. Overall, the growth that Iraq’s petroleum saw in2011 could continue into the new year as well.
For 2011, Iraq saw new highs in exports and profits. For theyear, it exported an average of 2.16 million barrels a day. That was up from1.89 million barrels in 2010. October saw the lowest amount at 2.08 millionbarrels, while June had the highest at 2.27 million. Iraqi crude sold for anaverage of $104.96 a barrel last year, which was more than $25 above the 2010price of $75.62. That allowed Iraq to average $6.907 million in profits eachmonth, compared to $4.352 million in 2010. With continued unrest in the MiddleEast such as the sanctions against Iran, prices can be expected to stay ataround the same price throughout 2011. That means the country’s addedproduction is coming on line just at the right time to benefit from theinternational situation.
Iraq’s exports are due for a boost in 2012. In February, thefirst of three new floating terminals is due to open in Basra, each with acapacity of 900,000 barrels a day. This is part of a $1.3 billion improvementplan to increase the flow of oil through the southern port. In total, two newundersea pipelines, one on shore pipeline, and three single point moorings aredue to be completed. Basra is currently exporting an average of 1.7 millionbarrels a day. By the end of the year, it is supposed to have an added capacityof 2.7 million barrels. There are also plans for a third pipeline and a fourthfloating terminal, plus a fourth bidding round for five oil and seven naturalgas fields. Nearly two-thirds of Iraq’s exports flow through the Basragovernorate, because it has the majority of the country’s oil reserves, and itsonly port. That’s why all of Iraq’s current plans are for the south rather thanthe north. Expanding its infrastructure is badly needed if Iraq ever hopes totake full advantage of its most important natural resource. The only questionis when these projects can be completed, because there are always delays inIraq.
Even with this new equipment, Iraq is unlikely to reach itsproduction targets. In 2009, the Oil Ministry said that it wanted to reach 12million barrels a day in capacity by 2017. That would be the greatest increasein world history. The statement was probably made for political reasons, toshow that Iraq was going to be a player in the international oil scene onceagain, now that Saddam was gone, and international sanctions were over. Now thegovernment is quietly talking with consultants to lower those expectations andextending its deadlines. That would mean renegotiating the contracts with theforeign oil companies it signed deals with in 2009. Some alternative numberswere offered by Shell that estimated that Iraq would reach 5-6 million barrelsa day in production in ten years. British Petroleum predicted a mark of 4.5million barrels by 2010, and 5.5 million barrels by 2030, the InternationalEnergy Agency believed Iraq could reach 6 million barrels by the 2030s, whilethe United State Energy Information Administration thought that Iraq couldachieve at best, 8.3 million barrels by 2035. The problem is until Iraq addsall of its planned infrastructure it will continue to be plagued bybottlenecks. There are also on-going political disputes over a new oil law,plus attacks by insurgents on pipelines and oil facilities. Altogether thosepose daunting issues for Iraq to overcome to reach its true potential.
Iraq saw a slight growth in oil exports in 2011, butdramatically larger profits. It needs to continue to grow its infrastructure,so that it can take advantage of the high oil prices while they last. Iraqdepends upon petroleum for nearly 90% of its revenue. The country has so manyneeds after twenty years of sanctions and wars it has to earn as much as itcan. Fortunately, some of its projects are finally coming to fruition, so thatcapacity will increase. That means exports and profits will continue to go upinto 2012.

UNDP -Iraq is seeking for a Contractor to provide technical assistance to the Government of Iraq to develop and implement a pilot e-service systems based on Service Oriented Archtecture (SOA)- based business process design approach to assure fast scaling and quick wins for e-government.
To this respect, a workshop shall be conducted with the targeted partners to transfer the knowledge on architects SOA – BPM design and implementation principles by the Contractor. The Contractor is also expected to work hand-by hand with the workshop participants to lead the development and implementation of the targeted quick win applications.

"The value of the Iranian Tuman has dropped to very low levels, as its value compared with the Iraqi dinar has reached to 500 dinars, whilst its previous value had exceeded 1,000 dinars," Abu-Ibrahim al-Yassiry, the owner of an exchange company told Aswat al-Iraq news agency, adding that "the decrease had made merchants and owners of trade shops cease dealing with the Tuman and insisting to deal with the Iraqi dinar and the US dollar," Yassiry said.
"The markets in Najaf and Karbala have witnessed a huge offer for the Tuman, thing that dropped its value to reach 300 dinars," he added.
The owner of a garments shop told Aswat al-Iraq, Murtada al-Khazaaly, told Aswat al-Iraq: "the drop in the value of the Iranian Tuman had forced Iranian visitors to buy presents and goods from Iraqi markets," adding that "the Iranian visitor was greatly shocked when he noticed that the value of the Tuman had dropped highly in Iraq".
As for the Chairman of Najaf's Chamber of Commerce, Zuhair Sharba, he told Aswat al-Iraq that "the drop in the value of the Iranian Tuman shall help to increase the purchasing potential of the Iraqi merchant," adding that "in the event of the transfer of dealing from the Tuman to the Iraqi dinar, shall cause the decrease of the number of Iranian visitors, who exceed 6,000 visitors daily and who stay for 10 days, during which they visit the Shiite holy shrines in Najaf, Karbala, Baghdad and Samarra.

Supply of one year of fast moving spare-parts for each ambulance.c) Freight & Insurance for two Armoured ambulances, DDU UNAMI Compound, Kheitan, KUWAIT (INCOTERMS 2000).
For this purpose, UNAMI will undertake a competitive bidding exercise shortly, and will issue accordingly a Request for Proposal (RFP) with detailed specifications to companies who express interest and provide initial relevant information as to their ability to fulfill UNAMI’s requirement by completing the attached Pre-qualification Questionnaire.
