ghitch, you are just like so many others who support this trap. For goodness sake, see the problem and work to fix it without giving up your (and my) independence. Work toward tort reform; work toward open ,honest competition in the health insurance field by allowing insurance companies to offer their products across state lines. Capitalism works wonderfully well when allowed to. We must have laws restricting monopolistic situations; that's what capitalism can so easily get to. Government should protect citizens against bad practices WITHOUT actually getting into the business. That is exactly where we are headed with this legislation. Years ago, in an effort to protect market share, insurance companies encouraged the formation of laws to restrict interstate access to healthcare insurance. It was a misdirected effort, but one that worked well for a while. Now we're in this predicament which actually causes just the type situation(s) you describe. If we had less government intrusion and more competition, prices would come down. Come on, embrace your freedoms and work to keep them !
