Maybe yours got stuck in the outbox this whole time??? I have seen that before on Exchange servers. Then people freak out when they get mail hours to even weeks later. If no one else got this old email then that could be the case what happen. Sometimes when you restart the service it purges the outbox to resend what is stuck.
