  1. Groovgal chat: Dinar Speculator 6/24/10 @ 10:00pm June 24, 2010 · Posted in another site's Tidbits - CHATS / POSTS Redskin78: Hey Groovgal, great to see you back in the last month, I’m sorry if you’ve shared before, but how do you arrive at your floor of 2.30, just a “guestimate”, intel or your own calculations, or something else??? Thanks!!!! groovgal: Redskin, I hate to use the word intel but I suppose that is what you could call it and it can be supported by economic means, which would be far too indepth to go into here and now. While I respect Medic and his intel I can agree on all except the rate information which I believe to be off point. I remain grounded in my belief that it will be no lower than 2.30 and will most likely come in around 3.10 to 3.30…. but listen to both of u us and gather your own opinion….. I appreciate that. Everyone has excellent knowledge to bring forth… but since, I hear things first hand… I have to logically throw out what doesn’t fit… but that is me. wingsfan1964: gg i like your rate also can you explain why so high i get the speculation part groovgal: wings… I did that nearly a year ago hon… I’m sorry but I simply haven’t the energy to explain that again. It was an economic breakdown of why and how they could. Lets just say that once they are release from Ch. 7 they will have the assets to supports such a higher rate…. I need to ask around and see if anyone happens to have a copy of my old post adyinwaiting says to (23:10:56): Earlier you had thought it could happen anyday, are we now looking more to Aug, altho Aug is great too anytime this year LOL groovgal says to (23:12:30): when earlier? like within the last month? If I did say that within the last month, you have to understand that any day to me is litterly any day after they seat the government. I don’t mean anyday as in this week or next like others do. I’m sorry for the confusion ladyinwaiting says to (23:12:50): yes within in last month or so groovgal says to (23:13:28): okay, then what I meant by that is… it will be anyday from the time of when they seat the government…….the government is already in play btw…. and at work so…. well, rest assured that Iraq wants freedom and they are screaming it from the rooftops Maliki was soooo… but Allawi is a fast dog on a hunt matt_r29 says to (23:15:07): gg, iyo, what kind of impact could this RV have on the Global economy? groovgal says to (23:16:09): matt, the RV could have a ton of impact… it could stablize currencies and fastforward the process of global economic realignment… Okay… I’m misspelling words like crazy… my brain is telling me to go to sleep I’ll come in tomorrow and share some more… promise!

  2. I do alot of recreational shooting and I always keep a roll of toilet paper in my shooting bag as standard equipment. After using the last of a roll I stopped at one of those country convenience stores and purchased a single, individually wrapped roll of Scottissue for .99 cents. The wrapper stated that there was 1000 sheets on the roll and so I was thinking that it sounded reasonable to pay a dollar for a thousand sheets of this highly valuable commodity ( I bet that one would pay considerably more than that if you needed it and didn't have it...lol) and after some critical thinking skills were diligently applied to the situation it hit me that I actually paid more for toilet paper than I did for Dinars. That is right, a Dollar will get you a thousand sheets of toilet paper but it will get you 1170 Dinars. Doink! Let that sink in for a moment...tic....toc............ok, that's enough time. Do you think that the Iraqi Dinar will stay on par with bathroom tissue...really? Consider what it is is that will give the Dinar it's REAL value and the increasing demand for it worldwide. HINT #1: Free samples are washing up on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico HINT#2: It does not mix with water You get the point. There are a thousand reasons to invest in this currency so rest your sphincters and enjoy the ride! If this RV never occurs then what you can do is wipe with Dinars and save on toilet paper!! Now there is WISDOM...

  3. Apparently this guy hasn't been reading the diner forums or he would know its RVing by July 26. Doesn't the CBI have internet?

  4. I'll tell you a secret that is no secret... I have no proof except for having sat in on one of GG's chats in October....One of her contacts is connected to the FEAB...........Foreign Economic Advisory Board....attached to the IMF. He has allegedly negotiated directly with CBI and the GOI about all the goings on with the RV. Now don't kill me for posting that. I cannot tell you anything more because I don't know anything more. I have no secrets. But that contact is a serious player in all this and I believe her, So take that tidbit of info for what it was worth. Not much but it is interesting. She is obviously connected somewhere and she is the only person I have ever seen stick to her guns and information like she was reading it from a book. She is also the only person I have ever seen stand pat opposed to Medic's opinion and she has his respect. He doesn't give it lightly either. Just an observation in Dinar World. Plus she is one of the nicest persons I have ever talked to on-line. She could be a snit but she is down to earth and ready to help you understand with no reservations. People on Medic's site just go nuts when she comes on. You can tell I'm a fan.

  5. Frank26 Post: 24 June 2010 - KTF Missions Good afternoon Family, I am posting early today for a very good reason. When you go out to your backyard on a summer day one cannot walk very far before being struck by a flying bug of some type. If you could travel through a meteor shower there’s a good chance one may strike you. There seems to be a concentration of articles that are leading us in a positive direction. When on the hunt the sight of tracks ………excites the adventure. There are many tracks and these footprints IMO are getting bigger. It is for this reason that I am going to show you some articles and make short comments on them. Then I want you to take what you have learned to God in prayer. Afterwards……..sit still for awhile and let it soak in. You know how my team feels about the month of June. From the Ying to the Yang ………you also know that I do not trust the GOI. Compare what you are about to read with the powerful thrust of an Apollo spaceship entering its last 10 seconds of countdown. We all pray that we hear 10…9…8….to 0 and the mighty roar of our launch! Unfortunately I sense the GOI scratching for every inch of an excuse to do the following. 10…9….8……………HOLD. Am I so shell shocked that I have become paranoid to the GOI’s constant delays? Paranoid no……….PO’d………….YES!!! Okay let’s start. This first link is talking about Article 140. At the beginning of this month I started repeating a phrase for a reason. “The Kurds are in control”. Well if they release 140 it would only lead to completing the HCL. That’s powerful! http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&sl=ar&tl=en&u=http://www.kurdiu.org/ar/hawal/index.php%3Fpageid%3D34333&rurl=translate.google.com&usg=ALkJrhg4HT73WorcC8oxdG2oRMoOXM71-Q Ahhh………but we need a working government in Iraq first don’t we? The mechanism that allowed 1…..2…………3 has been completed. There is no doubt that this mechanism for the preparation and implementation of Iraq’s financial budget has been used in decades past and they are applying it again. Read this article carefully and try to understand the foundation has been poured and is drying. http://translate.google.com/translat...ogle.com&twu=1 If article 140 can bring us the HCL then that means that all four major laws of the HCL have been fulfilled. Like I told you yesterday the ¼ that is missing determines how much of the oil and gas revenues will be shared with the Iraqi citizens. My team was projecting 25% since it is a four part law. Below is an article that many of you saw yesterday but I wonder if you connected it to the HCL. They are talking about giving up to 30% of gas rights to citizens. This is a big step. http://www.iraqdirectory.com/Display....aspx?id=13048 Regardless of all of these positive articles it would all be for not if Iraq had not fulfilled other obligations besides those outlined in CH7. I apologize if I am incorrect……but I do not believe the Paris Club Debt is under CH7. Either way ……..it is exciting ……..no it is triumphant to learn that all requirements to lift the Paris Club Debt have been met! http://translate.google.com/translate?tl=en&sourceid=ie8-activity&u=http%3A%2F%2Falmadapaper.net%2Fnews.php%3Faction%3Dview%26id%3D21097 Baghdad / term economic Iraq ended in December / 2008 commitments contained in the emergency support agreement (SBA) signed with the second International Monetary Fund in December / 2007, UNFPA issued a book to the Paris Club. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance that Iraq has fulfilled its obligations Family……..the IQD and the assets that supported its rate were FROZEN when the coalition force took over the infrastructure of Iraq. Nothing that supported the IQD was destroyed………cancelled……or removed. It was ……..FROZEN. So they printed a bunch of 000’s because they had to re-denominate their currency with higher numbers because the value became lower numbers. When the RI is announced it will THAW out not only the IQD but the funds that supported it. Now that was 8 years ago hence the reason why an RI of 2.60 (true rate) to 3.22 (Saddam rate) is more than possible let alone 3.86. The barrel was $10 back then. It is over $70 now. Do you understand that when they get to 3……..2………1……….0……….LAUNCH! that the sky is the limit? They own the world’s oil. So with about 90% of the 000’s lifted will it be a negative influence on the dinar? Will their currency LOP? Well read the following: INA / Governor of Central Bank: We reject the accusations against the banks that deal with the World المشرف العامGeneral supervisor حجم الخط: Font size: واع / بغداد / ح بConscious / Baghdad / h b 24/6/2010 2:58pm24/6/2010 2:58 pm نفى محافظ البنك المركزي العراقي سنان الشبيبي تاثر قوة الدينار العراقي بعملية رفع الاصفار التي يعمل البنك المركزي تطبيقها خلال الفترة المقبلة ، مشيرا الى ان عملية رفع الاصفار ستكون بشكل تدريجي ومدروس دون ان تكون له اي اثار سلبية على العملة العراقية .Denied the Iraqi Central Bank Governor Sinan al-Shabibi force the Iraqi dinar has been affected by the process of lifting the zeroes that the central bank implemented during the coming period, noting that the process of lifting the zeroes will be gradual and thoughtful it without having any negative impact on the Iraqi currency. جاء ذلك خلال مؤتمر صحفيThis came during a news conference حضره مراسل ( وكالة انباء الاعلامAttended by reporter (and the News Agency Information العراقي / واع ) عقدته ادارة البنك في فندق الرشيد تناول السياسات العامة للبنكIraqi / INA) held by the directors of the bank at the Rashid Hotel address the public policy of the Bank والتعملات التي يجريها مع المصارف والبنوك ، مشيرا الى ان الهجوم الذي شنه احد مستشاري وزارة المالية على المصارف الاهلية وقوله انها ستصاب بالافلاس لعدم تعاملها بشكل صحيح وعدم التقيد بقوانين البنك ،غير واقعي وغير صحيح فكثير من المصارف ساهمت في تقدم القطاع الصيرفي ، وليس هناك اي خرق حدث من اي مصرف ، داعيا الى عدم اتهام المصارف جزافا " بحسب قوله ".And Altamlat carried out with banks, adding that the attack by an adviser to the Ministry of Finance of private banks and said it would go bankrupt for not tackling properly and non-compliance with the laws of the bank, unreal and untrue Many banks have contributed to the progress of the sector banker, and there is no breach event of any bank, calling on banks not to charge at random, "he says." That the banks in the Iraqi civil including Kabtal Alorca and Iranian banks have credits and name of banking and its capital the Great, and reject any accusations because the bank is responsible for the transactions of these banks, we do occasionally freeze for certain sections and keep revisiting the open actions from transactional banking and there is no reproach to any Bank, especially those targeted by some quarters recently. ت .T..ف أP a As I have told you Family AQ is helping me find articles that some of you may not be able to. She posted the following today and I want you to pay attention to the sequence of events. As for A being in DC it is possible that he is picking up some papers to take to the UN. Bob Barker at the UN hopefully is hollering at A and saying………..Come on down A……….the Price is finally right! Or A could be in the US for something completely different. It says that he is returning back on Monday. The weekend will be exciting. Please pay close attention to the following: Posted by angelquest Well my friends....I have found a few articles of interest and I did not critique but will explain here....the first two have to do with the OIL...as frank said we do see the final part we fill of the HCL...I want to ask you....why was A in Wash and on to the UN today???chapter7...no??? Now IMHO you must have a government to be at the UN...so as I showed you last night this must be done....A going that many miles for nothing when all the turmoil in Iraq....We saw today the budget was talked about and is in the red....they need more money....no??? Okay if you look at these articles it is saying OIL CONTRACTS will be signed in article #2 and then in the last article it says DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER...on official letter head go to the link.....so if we have indeed saw the HCL and they are going to sign he contract on Wednesday next and the DPM is talking about the STRUCTURE of the parliament to me it shows the RV has or will be within this month....no???Now we can not be sure but everything WS has posted today and FancyNancy and myself and others are showing the BING BAM BOOM...no???? Economist: Iraq will become first oil exporter in world Tuesday, June 22nd 2010 5:37 PM Baghdad, June 22 (AKnews) - Iraq will become the best source of oil in the world after the Iraqi Oil Ministry succeeded in developing its works regarding the sale of crude oil, an Iraqi economic expert said on Tuesday. The Oil Ministry succeeded this month in developing the oil exports, though the country is witnessing tension between the political blocs about the formation of the next government, Yaser al-Jabiri said. "Iraq's oil exports reached 58.7 million barrels per month and the sale capacity mounted to $4.335 million, which will make Iraq the first oil-exporting country if the export of oil remained the same." al-Jabiri said. The ministry is responsible for improving its performance during the coming stage to support the country's economy, he added. The Iraqi Oil Ministry has recently signed an agreement to develop pipelines, which links Iraq's oil fields to the Turkish Ceyhan port, and for 12 years, in order to improve the export of oil to the European Union countries. The southern Iraqi port exports the largest proportion of oil, ranging between 600 thousand barrels to one million barrels per day, while the northern port exports only 450 thousand barrels per day. "The increased production of oil during the recent period is an evidence about the efforts exerted to resolve all the problems that hinder the export of oil in the country, especially the problems between the federal government and Kurdistan Regional Government, (KRG)" al-Jabiri said. The oil pipeline with Syria will be rehabilitated which will help increase the output of crude oil over the next six years. Iraq signed in 2010 several contracts with international oil companies to develop its oil fields within the first and second licensing rounds in order to increase the production to 11 million barrels per day. Yesterday I put a link to a video that was over 3 minutes long showing the Iraqis protesting in the streets. It is rather dramatic and I hope all of you got to see it. When they used fire hoses I was fearful that things would get out of hand. IMO……the Iraqis surprised the GOI and this can only be a good thing for the RI. Iraq's political elites are betting on the time and risk confrontation with the protest movements Thursday, June 24th, 2010 Bet the Iraqi political elite, which won elections in more than three months, the time to extract concessions from each other. And at the same time risk losing the confidence of the street, which connects between the failure and decline in security and services. And open the adventure continued delay of the formation of the government and the escalation of disputes between the parties involved in the political process the door to popular events to express their anger. May be protests over poor electricity supply the first spark. The following article says that they reduced interest rates on loans and bank deposits to encourage more customers. Yes one reduces interest rates on loans made to customers for that purpose. But when they are reduced on the money that you put in to that bank so they can make a profit………it is not to entice you. It is to make a currency adjustment that affects the bank’s finances. You want to give me less for what I put into your bank? You really mean you need to give me less because my currency is about to go up in value. Please read Family: Al-Rafidain Bank reduces interest rates on loans and bank deposits to encourage investment Thursday, June 24th 2010 11:48 AM Baghdad, June 24 (AKnews) – An Iraqi Financial Economist said on Thursday that the Central Bank began to reduce rates on the financial interest by approximately six percent for the loans and four percent for bank deposits to encourage investments in the country, after series of robberies that took place recently on the Iraqi banks including the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) Maybe I should stop now Family ………I am sure you get the point by now that something serious is happening. Will it lead to the RI next week? It has potential doesn’t it? But even the mighty space rockets of NASA can be put on hold in the last few seconds and Iraq has established this annoying pattern. Oh we are definitely going to the prom it’s just that our date has not finished ……..getting prettied up for us. Yes I know about today’s rumors from other places………I get over 100 calls a day LOL. They are saying that parliament will meet today to read the HCL into law. These rumors are saying that they are calling A the PM in the newspapers and streets. The rumor further claims that the 2010 budget was read in parliament and that Monday they will officially announce A as the PM……….release the budget and the RI will be official on the 30th at a UN meeting. Finally this rumor from other places is saying that the rate will be between 3.22 and 3.86. I do not wish for God to be ashamed of me but maybe just for this one time can I say……….I know……..it’s pretty much what we have been saying since the first week in April even if I don’t agree with my team. May all the honor and glory go to God. May all the recognition of intel gathering go to every forum except mine. May my respects be presented to my team if the RI happens this month. May I offer you my Christian love as I say Aloha for today. God bless you all. KTF, Frank

  6. Hi everyone, We finally got back from Moscow - it's great to be home. I just got an email from one of our IQD family who is in Iraq, and had a very interesting observation at the Baghdad Airport regarding the Chinese that is worth noting...how close are we...??? Hello Ron. I have never done this before. I respect your posts and I see you do alot on DinarVets. I'm a bit reluctant to pass on info. I'm a contractor in Iraq, for 2 yrs now. I'm getting ready to head back home. It has been rewarding in many ways. Unlike many of the people working over here I ACTUALLY GO OUTSIDE THE WIRE with the Military, when called upon. I've seen a lot of suffering out there and a lot of positive things as well. You should have seen the faces of the children last Halloween, we had a mission and the escorts threw candy to the children. The kids loved it !!! The soldiers have also thrown soccer balls to the kids, they love that too. So here's the info I wanted to pass on, nothing earth shattering but interesting to see, IMO. Have a great day ! A funny thing happened yesterday. On our return trip from R-R, after we arrived at BIAP ( Baghdad International Airport ) . While in line awaiting our visas, which took over 3 hours and they knew we where coming into theater, they processed everyone else ahead of our charter, even the ones who arrived after us ! That's another story. We shared the waiting area with around 30-35 Chinese, all men, only 1 woman that I saw. One of my co-workers asked them who they worked for, they responded " A Chinese oil company". I took this as another positive sign. They are getting people in the country to get the oil pumping !! Ron, If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer. I try to ask questions and talk to any LN's I run into on base or off, if the Military lets us. Best Regards, Shawn PS. I did throw this out on a reply to Frank's 23rd chat post that was posted in the rumors section. I did not see the original until now.

  7. This was posted by Perhaps on 1D June 24, 2010 Government to be formed in July. Cannot RV prior to gov’t formation. Current intel says it is not as low as .75 and it is not as high as 3.00 (all I can say) Difficult to give up everything without betraying a pledge, but I will attempt to get around this by telling you what I do not have. I do not have an exact date. (still between now and October) Iranian influence is not helping our cause, which includes those in Parliment tied to Iran. They are not pro-American. The RV is not Shabs call. I do believe it will happen sooner than expected and that is IMO and not intel. Allawi will probably not become PM. (not enough seats without another large block) So that is up in the air for now. None of the above is cut in stone, but reflects my conversations. Communicating with my contacts every week now, and will find a way to give you the gist of current intel. Will not get out of Ch 7 without concluding all demands by Kuwait. Owed them 80 billion and have paid 40 billion over the past 15 years. Coming down to the wire is more stressful than it was getting all false intel. I think I was happier thinking it was every Sunday through Tuesday while calculating what I would get. The rate should be acceptable to all involved. That is all for now, more to come as there is alot going on. -- Perhaps

  10. Only being in this investment since late April, I certainly am not an old-timer. But like you, I have read as many of the old posts from chats (to news to even off-topic items) in most every forum that would allow visitors. I even joined some that didn't like outsiders, just so I could get a grip on how climatic this particular time frame is in relation to all the others I've read. (Yeah, I'm kinda o.c.d. like that ). My true feeling is that there has never been a time quite like this. From everything I've found & read, the RI/RV could've happened at several "opportune" times in Iraq, over the last year especially. But up to now, Iraq has been full of self-serving, money-hungry politicians that answer to literally no one & who, ultimately, have stalled out the process. Plus their own internal systems perhaps were not quite ready for the extent an over-haul like an RI/RV would bring to their country in a variety of different facets. But now... NOW, you have at least two major factors previously not in the picture. You have the current state of the global economy - a global economy in serious trouble - which allows for an added pressure on Iraq from a conglomerate of outside power houses. You also have a civil unrest, a growing distrust of the democratic process in Iraq by its own people. One that could invevitably and at any time cause an uprising creating the worst case scenario - one which would lead them right back to dictatorship. And in addition, (as a sidenote), you have a country now, in its different sectors, who are much better prepared for an RI/RV, and even need an RI/RV to continue with basic operational flows. So, whatever guru you follow - or if you're like me and take a concensus of the information backed by headlines supporting them plus the incredible insight/comments from some of the average forum goers (who are far from average, actually) - this is probably the closest it's ever been to coming full circle. I'm allowing myself to be excited!! It's not necessarily that the gurus have always been wrong - it's just that their "predicitions" were based on an Iraq that would hopefully set-aside differences for the benefit/sake of its own country. Hopeful, democratic thinking... but not realistic. Heavily burdened with generation-impounded greed and self-serving interests, they were only a little () gun-shy of the plate. But now... NOW there are umpires... and there's a team, a team closing in, screaming at them to hit the ball. It's the wind-up, batter's ready...

  11. Enorrste Chat: 6/24/2010 evening - another site Posted on zzz - 6/25/2010 @ 2:38 am 8:18 PM [enorrste] This opinion and prediction of mine is based on articles and a "smattering" of intel from persons here and elsewhere 8:19 PM [enorrste] I believe that there is enough evidence now to feel confident that Allawi has sealed the deal for the PM position 8:19 PM [enorrste] and that is will be announced/voted on this Monday as Parliament reconvenes 8:20 PM [enorrste] At that same time there are rumors, and only that, that possible the HCL, hydro carbon law, has actually been read and passed 8:20 PM [enorrste] this would mean that in some fashion parliament may have already reconvened. 8:20 PM [enorrste] I find that unlikely, but not impossible 8:21 PM [enorrste] In any case it appears to me, as I have been predicting for about 3 weeks now, that Allawi has sewed up the PM slot 8:21 PM [cerwin] yes. 8:22 PM [enorrste] this would mean that we would see the Parliament meet on Monday with the first order of business being: 8:22 PM [enorrste] the "old man" temporary Speaker would announce the election for his own replacement as Speaker 8:22 PM [enorrste] This election, IMO, will go to either Jafaari or Mahdi, both Shias 8:22 PM [enorrste] This would guaranteed that the Shias have a primary spot in the country leadership 8:23 PM [enorrste] My guess is that this will go to Jafaari 8:23 PM [enorrste] Jafaari then takes his place and they hold an election for the new President of the Republic, as I understand it 8:23 PM [enorrste] Talabani currently holds that position but has said that he will not run for re-election 8:24 PM [enorrste] Therefore, IMO again, I believe that this spot will go to Mahdi, another Shia 8:24 PM [enorrste] Then the election for PM will be held, but we already know/believe that Allawi has sewn that up, so it will be a rubber stamp. Allawi is Shia. 8:25 PM [enorrste] However, Allawi runs the Iraqiya coalition (Sunni) and has formed a coalition, I believe, with the Kurdish Alliance. 8:25 PM [enorrste] Allawi will be elected and will unify the entire government through this process. This is the "great compromise" that I believe he completed about 3 weeks ago, privately 8:26 PM [enorrste] So we will have a new government formed almost immediately comprised of Kurds, Sunnis, and Shiites, with the majority, as always, being Shiites 8:26 PM [enorrste] This will be seen as one of the most powerful confirmations of the democratic process in the world, IMO 8:27 PM [enorrste] And the world will congratulate them for a job well done. 8:27 PM [enorrste] Maliki will not play a role in the new government, IMO 8:27 PM [enorrste] Now, this is Monday, a few days away........... 8:27 PM [enorrste] But in the meantime the G20 wll be meeting over the weekend 8:28 PM [enorrste] I'm told that the agenda is: World Economic Crisis, Exchange Rates in the ME, and Exchange Rates in the Far East 8:28 PM [enorrste] And that both Iraq and Vietnam have been invited as "watchers" but not participants. 8:28 PM [enorrste] Now the G20 is big. 8:29 PM [enorrste] It comprises 90% of the world's trade and about 60-70% of the world's population 8:29 PM [enorrste] In short: they have a lot of power 8:29 PM [enorrste] I believe that China will be "not so subtley" cooerced into doing a significant RV 8:29 PM [enorrste] beyond the .05% daily that we are seeing now. 8:30 PM [enorrste] This is somewhat "iffy", since China is very hardheaded 8:30 PM [enorrste] but with the agenda starting with the "World Economic Crisis" I believe that the other 19 countries will convince China, finally, 8:30 PM [enorrste] that it is time to act, and now. 8:31 PM [enorrste] I will not be surprised to see a major RV of the yuan at the end of this meeting. 8:31 PM [enorrste] It may go as high as 1 yuan - 1 dollar, but probably not 8:31 PM [enorrste] But let's assume, for a moment that it goes half way there, to 50 cents 8:32 PM [enorrste] this would be enormous for world trade balances and would enable the world to start correcting 8:32 PM [enorrste] I believe then that the dong would follow suit, in line with the yuan (and probably as directed by China, quite frankly) to somewhere between 6 cents and 21 cents, as TK has told us. 8:33 PM [enorrste] At the same time I believe we will see the dinar RV/RI to $3.22 or more 8:33 PM [enorrste] This will be the "coup d'etat" of the G20 conference, if they can pull this off 8:34 PM [enorrste] We may not see the announcement regarding these currencies until after the parliamentary meeting on Monday (our Sunday night) in Iraq 8:34 PM [enorrste] So the whole thing could come together as a "package deal", so to speak 8:34 PM [enorrste] I've also seen rumors from TK that the HCL is done and will be announced as such at the parliament or in the news 8:35 PM [enorrste] and then, supposedly, on the 30th, the UN will formally release Iraq from Ch 7. 8:35 PM [enorrste] Now, unfortunately, this "scenario" has a lot of assumptions in it and is hardly cast in stone. 8:36 PM [enorrste] It requires, essentially, that ALL of the puzzle pieces fit together at the appropriate times, namely this weekend. 8:36 PM [enorrste] We have been disappointed many times regarding timing of events, so we shouldn't start waving our bananas quite yet 8:37 PM [enorrste] Instead, I suggest that we all watch the screens, and coordinate our vigilance to ensure that If/When things happen we are prepared. 8:37 PM [enorrste] There is a slim possibility that the dong could go some hours before the dinar, but who knows. 8:38 PM [enorrste] In any case we should be ready for that possibility. I am among a group that will be monitoring this throughout the nights over this weekend "just in case" 8:38 PM [enorrste] and we will report here if/when it happens. 8:38 PM [enorrste] A double dip would be outstanding, but I don't honestly think it is likely, given the enormous numbers that could be generated from it. 8:39 PM [enorrste] After all, these people aren't stupid! LOL 8:39 PM [enorrste] I'm also reminded that, again according to TK, there is a "failsafe" of sorts in Shabibi 8:39 PM [enorrste] who, if TK is correct, will pull the trigger at the last moment on the 30th should Iraq fail to follow through. 8:40 PM [enorrste] So, in summary, the situation is as close as ever before, with most of the pieces appearing to fall in place. 8:40 PM [enorrste] Meetings are being held that could very likely make all of this possible (this is a first, incidentally) 8:40 PM [enorrste] Deadlines exist at June 30 in the IMF and elsewhere. 8:41 PM [agaperrk] I would but they would not give me the trigger. 8:41 PM [enorrste] Iraq is "hanging on by a thread" now, asking for another $5 billion from the IMF which, I suspect, is now holding the carrot just out of reach awaiting action from Iraq on the RV. 8:41 PM [zigmnstr] e you did see the article that they beefed up security around the green zone right???? 8:42 PM [enorrste] So, as long as the IMF holds its place, I believe that Iraq will finally have to play its last card. 8:42 PM [enorrste] Of course, I could be wrong. 8:42 PM [enorrste] Done 8:42 PM [Mysticwoman] enorrste Why would China wait until Iraq's Parliament has finished business to make their announcement or Vietnam for that matter? 8:42 PM [enorrste] Mysticwoman Mysticwoman China's actions will be based on the G20 meeting, not on the Iraqi parliament meeting

I've always understood that the re-denomination (the lop where smaller bills replace larger bills) would could much later anyway. I'd love to interview these guys .. maybe we can get some questions together and ask one of the US news reporters to get us some answers.

  15. SHABIBI'S INTERVIEW-2010 BUDGET GIVEN Post: by Star - KTF Missions -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Thursday, June 24, 2010, 6:21 AM SHABIBI'S INTERVIEW. BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The central bank governor said on Wednesday that his country is in talks with six or seven of foreign banks interested in entering the Iraqi market, despite insurgent attacks on the financial institutions including the Central Bank. The governor said Shabibi told Reuters that the current interest rate at six percent is suitable for the time being in line with core inflation, which stood at three percent in June. He said in an interview conducted in English: "Some foreign banks willing to join the local banks and we are negotiating with many of them actually ... there were some applications submitted for permits to work." "There are banks in the Gulf region and I think that there are two banks, three from Europe. I think that six or seven banks is a good number to a large extent." Said Walid Idi Acting Director-General to monitor the banking in the Central Bank of Iraq in a news conference later on Wednesday that the Iranian and Lebanese banks among banks that submitted requests. Gunmen burst into the suicide bombers and the central bank earlier this month have killed 18 people and fought a gun battle lasted an hour and a half with the security forces. The attack targeted a suicide bomber on Sunday Trade Bank of Iraq. Shabibi but played down fears that the fragile security situation and the delay in forming a new government after March elections that could alienate foreign investors. "Those goals were long term too. I do not think this will affect investment decisions." The central bank cut its key interest rate by 100 basis points to six percent in April, in response to the decline in inflation. Shabibi said "(interest rates) are well in line with inflation at the moment ... I think that the level of inflation is fairly good .. actually we do not expect any changes in monetary policy in the months to the (next)." The official interest rate in Iraq guided by the interest rates at banks rather than a mechanism of direct cash because the banking sector as small as capital markets are undeveloped. Is dominated by the oil sector on the economy, the Iraqi official. The governor said he did not expect the widening budget deficit in 2010 because the price of crude - which was trading around 76 dollars a barrel on Wednesday - not far from the estimates in the budget, adding that the outlook for a stable Iraqi budget was "almost" thanks to high oil prices. He said, "I think that there will be more demand for the development projects ... because of some political turmoil and the elections, which prevent the implementation of many of them. "There may be a campaign for the implementation of projects .. and will put some pressure on the budget." The Iraqi Council of Ministers approved the budget for 2010 at 78.73 trillion Iraqi dinars. The budget assumed a price of crude at 62 dollars a barrel and predicted a deficit of 17.95 trillion dinars. Link Corrupted

  17. LONDON, June 24 (Reuters) - Things are looking up for politician-turned-fund manager Bjorn Englund -- he doesn't need bodyguards anymore when researching for his Iraq-focused fund. Englund, the Swedish manager of the $30 million Babylon Fund and founder of boutique Godvig, is one of the handful of investors who see glittering prospects behind the gruesome Iraqi headlines in the aftermath of war and the impasse that followed inconclusive elections in March. [iD:nLDE65L161] "I see a good future in Iraq and I see us being there in the long term," he said, with the caveat that the nascent democracy is not for the faint hearted nor for those in a hurry to make a quick return on their investment. He might have given up his bodyguards in 2006, but there are still pitfalls to negotiate. "Even if the fundamentals are heading the right way it may not translate as stock market performance. Nothing might happen for a long, long time and then everything will happen at the same time," he said. Alice, I reduced the size of the font just a little so that we could read the last couple of lines, I hope you don't mind me doing this!! Thanks Bumper64

The countries that have been bailing them out for years are running the show behind the scenes like US, Britain, France, China, Germany etc. They will not allow this charade to continue when all our economies are in such a mess but one simple revaluation of the IQD will pull the rest of the world out of recession....................... This will happen and it will happen fast when it does because the markets are crying out for it to happen and most importantly IRAQ owe us!!!!!

  26. Thanks Kingfish, I too am a small business. In fact, the vast majority of onshore oil exploration, development and production is carried out by "small" people like me. The areas in which I operate have no BIG OIL operators. I love my work and take great satisfaction in knowing that I am providing good jobs for a number of people in industries that support the oil and gas industry. This is a rough and tumble business and the participants enter at their own risk. There are NO UNIONS, NO UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS and health insurance, if you have it, is self-funded. The only retirement benefits are those that I provide for myself. I have enough dinars to provide for my extended family, donate to privately run, Christian homeless shelters and seek out and join like minded individuals who are passionate about saving our republic. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

  27. I dont know if this has been posted, if it has i am sorry for reposting The bit that i would like to point out is this The Council is expecting a comprehensive progress report on Iraq and the Kuwaiti missing persons issue before 30 June Full link here http://www.securitycouncilreport.org/site/c.glKWLeMTIsG/b.6068459/k.880B/June_2010brIraq.htm Expected Council Action The Council is expecting a comprehensive progress report on Iraq and the Kuwaiti missing persons issue before 30 June. The activities of the high-level coordinator, who advises the Security Council on these matters, are currently funded through 30 June. The Council seems likely to extend the coordinator’s activities before the end of the month. top • full forecast Key Recent Developments Ad Melkert, the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Iraq, briefed the Council on a range of issues relating to Iraq on 25 May. With regard to Iraq/Kuwait issues Melkert expressed concern about Iraq’s level of commitment to make progress with Kuwait and said the demarcation of the Kuwaiti border by Iraq remains a necessary step for progress. Iraq’s Ambassador to the UN Hamid al-Bayati also spoke and stressed Iraq’s commitment to fulfilling its obligations and resolving all issues related to Kuwait. (An example of the kind of problems that are arising as a result of unresolved issues with Kuwait was evident on 26 May when Iraq dissolved its national airline, apparently in response to a UK court decision to freeze the airline’s assets in light of debts owed by it to Kuwait.) An Iraqi court on 17 May overturned a ban on nine newly elected members of parliament who had been barred from holding office for alleged Baathist ties. The court decision followed a statement by Iraqi President Jalal Talibani the week before that action to bar electoral candidates on the basis of ties to the Baath Party had been halted. (The process of excluding such candidates from the electoral process, which began in the run-up to elections held on 7 March and continued in the following weeks, had the potential to alter the election outcome.) Iraq’s Independent High Election Commission said on 16 May that a recount of votes cast in the Baghdad area had been completed. The recount confirmed earlier results that gave the Iraqiya list of candidates led by Ayad Allawi 91 seats in parliament, the State of Law list led by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki 89 seats and the Iraqi National Alliance list, which includes followers of Moktada al-Sadr, 71 seats. Iraq’s Supreme Court must still certify final results. The Secretary-General’s latest report on the activities of the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) was released on 14 May. On Iraq/Kuwait issues, the report noted that Iraq had now appointed its first ambassador to Kuwait since 1990. In addition, progress had continued towards implementing a project to increase Iraqi capacity to identify and exhume human remains. The project would be funded by a Kuwaiti grant and administered by UNAMI in support of the high-level coordinator. The Secretary-General encouraged Iraq to fulfil its obligations related to Kuwait, which could in turn lead to action in the Council on the removal of other outstanding Chapter 7 measures. The report also noted that the formation of the next Iraqi government was expected to require a considerable amount of time, and that the coming months would be a critical time for Iraq. Iraq and UNAMI launched a UN Development Assistance Framework for 2011-2014 on 11 May that is meant to support the country's five-year National Development Plan. Over a hundred people were killed across Iraq in a series of bombings and shootings on 10 May. Iraqi officials said the attacks were carried out by the group Al Qaida in Iraq in response to the killing of two of the group's leaders in a recent joint Iraq-US military operation. The Secretary-General strongly condemned the attacks in a statement the following day. Iraq's presidential council urged on 4 May that a new government be formed quickly and warned that delays could result in a resurgence of violence. The same day Maliki’s State of Law coalition and the Iraqi National Alliance coalition agreed to ally themselves in the Iraqi parliament. Both are predominately Shiite. Such an alliance would bring the two groupings close to the number of seats in parliament needed to form a government. However, some contentious issues, such as the selection of a prime minister, remain to be resolved. The UN Compensation Commission, which settles damage claims resulting from Iraq's 1990 invasion of Kuwait, on 29 April dispensed $590 million to nine successful claimants, bringing the total amount disbursed by the commission to over $29 billion. top • full forecast Human Rights-Related Developments An Iraqi lawmaker called for a UN investigation into reported torture of detainees at Muthanna, an old airport in West Baghdad, prompted by a report published on 27 April by Human Rights Watch (HRW). In the report—based on interviews with 42 men detained by the Iraqi army between September and December 2009 after sweeps of a stronghold of Sunni Arab militants in and around Mosul—the organisation called on the Iraqi authorities to establish an independent and impartial inquiry to investigate the abuses. The detainees were interviewed in the Al Rusafa Detention Centre on 26 April following their transfer from Muthanna. HRW urged the authorities to determine who was responsible for the abuses and to prosecute them, including anyone in authority who had failed to prevent the torture. top • full forecast Key Issues The key issue before the Council is how much further progress is needed on resolving the question of missing Kuwaiti persons and property, and whether an extension of the mandate of the high-level coordinator’s activities is desirable. A related issue is Iraq's request that the Council remove measures imposed in resolutions adopted during the regime of Saddam Hussein. This question remains as the backdrop when considering issues such as Kuwaiti missing persons and property. Progress made on the missing persons issue could aid in resolving other Iraq/Kuwait issues such as compensation and the maintenance of the boundary between Iraq and Kuwait. Similarly, the resolution of Iraq/Kuwait issues could potentially facilitate the lifting of other measures imposed on Iraq, such as those related to disarmament. top • full forecast Underlying Problems Underlying problems are the relative fragility of Iraq as a new democracy and the danger that the delays in forming a government will hinder progress on the Kuwaiti missing persons issue and perhaps also prompt a resurgence of sectarian violence. top • full forecast Options Options include: •extending the activities of the high-level coordinator for an additional six months or longer; •seeking to hasten progress on Iraq/Kuwait issues by adopting a statement substantively addressing the issues and reaffirming the Council's commitment to resolving outstanding issues between Iraq and Kuwait; and •allowing the high-level coordinator’s mandate to expire (an unlikely option). top • full forecast Council and Wider Dynamics Council members seem to hold differing views on how much progress has been made in resolving the question of missing persons and property. A number of members seem to be worried that work on the issue has advanced very little since the last briefing in October 2009. Others including Russia and the UK hold a more positive view and perceive Iraq to be determined to resolve the issue to Kuwait’s satisfaction. It is unclear how much new information the coordinator’s comprehensive report will contain. Most members seem to accept that the activities of the high-level coordinator should continue. Some note that Kuwait encourages the continuation of the coordinator’s mandate. For others the political situation in Iraq is a consideration, bearing in mind the possibility that it may take several months to form a new government. Meaningful progress on Iraq/Kuwait issues is therefore seen as unlikely in the short term and therefore the continuation of the high-level coordinator’s role is viewed as prudent. Some members feel that the financing of the coordinator’s activities should be extended for more than six months so the issue does not come up during the busy December calendar. The issue of government formation is also a consideration for members with regard to the broader issue of historical Council resolutions that date from the Saddam era. A number of members feel that additional action is required on Iraq’s part before Chapter 7 measures can be lifted, which will be more likely after a new government begins operating. For example, ratification by the Iraqi parliament of the Additional Protocol to the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is viewed by some members as necessary before any action is taken on disarmament issues, is unlikely at present due to the post-election uncertainty in the country. The US is the lead country on Iraq issues in general, and the UK is the lead on Iraq/Kuwait issues. top • full forecast UN Documents Selected Security Council Resolutions •S/RES/1905 (21 December 2009) extended the arrangements for the Development Fund for Iraq (DFI) and the International Advisory and Monitoring Board (IAMB) until 31 December 2010 and requested the Secretary-General to report on strengthening oversight of the DFI, legal issues and options for a post-DFI mechanism, and Iraq's progress in preparing for such a mechanism. •S/RES/1883 (7 August 2009) extended UNAMI’s mandate for another 12 months. •S/RES/1859 (22 December 2008) requested the Secretary-General to report on all Council resolutions concerning Iraq since 1990; a letter from Iraq requesting the lifting of Saddam-era resolutions is included as an annex to the resolution. •S/RES/1483 (22 May 2003) established sanctions against the previous Iraqi government, created the DFI, provided immunity to Iraqi petroleum products and envisaged the termination of the oil-for-food programme. •S/RES/1284 (17 December 1999) appointed a high-level coordinator for Iraq/Kuwait missing persons and property. I am not a manual laborer, for your info I have a graduate degree in geology and after I finish my field work I spend the rest of my day putting it all together. Socialism is great until you run out of money from people like me. Adios

  29. As for me I paid for my own education by serving in the US Army and by working full time while I went to college full time. I busted my ass for my education and NO socialist program paid my way, thank you very much. All the doctor's visits I've had over my 49 years have been paid for by my parents when I was a kid, and by myself since I was 18. I buy the health insurance my family enjoys. I pay the co-pays and the overages. I pay for the prescriptions. One day I'll retire and have to carry the full load of health insurance costs which my employer helps with now... and I'll pay every penny of it too. Let's hear about how well our country would do when their financial system collapses because of rampant uncontrolled and state-sanctioned socialism and liberalism. When you run out of other people's money who pays the bills then? You want that government? Go to China or Vietnam. Your type of people will be the absolute DEATH of America if we don't stop you... and we WILL stop you!

  31. This is from another site June 23, 2010 All, This is not me spreading rumors, but me sharing a fact. I’ve heard from no less than 5 different contacts in the past 24 hours that are all saying the same thing… we are in a window starting tomorrow, with the hot dates being the 26 – 30th. I’m not giving intel, as the details really don’t matter. I’m not pumping anything, just stating what I’ve experienced. None of these individuals talk to one another. A few aren’t even on these forums. Their stories are all different, but their dates corroborate each other’s information. It’s something to be aware of, nothing more. Let’s hope they’re right. I am still holding on to an RV by sometime in October 2010. another site I sure hope his sources are right. Go RV!!!!!

  32. I have a quick question for the members who have been here for some time. I am not new to the dinar, but just started actually following it this year. I have watched and read all of the chat logs from all of the most listened to individuals, I refrain from using the word "GURU" because each seems to have a following that will back them to the hilt. My question is this, has there ever been a time when all of these individuals seem to be with in a 30 day window of each other as they are now? For the record I joined this site because of Adam and Sonny1, but the posts of others keep me here. I.e. Ron, K98, Carla, ChiefV, Scooter, Sunshine and many others, Thnaks to you all!

Arbil, June 24 (Akaniwz) - The Deputy Minister of Finance and the Iraqi economy Thursday, that 80% of Iraq's debt has been settled, but the Arab countries refuse to extinguish the debt owed by Iraq. The Prophet said Fadel told Kurdistan News (Akaniwz) announced today that "even now, do not fall in the Arab countries debts and dues owed by Iraq," noting that "the reasons are political mostly." وتابع ان "العراق تمكن من تسوية ما نسبته 80% من ديونه، وخاصة مع الدول الاوروبية". He added that "Iraq was able to resolve 80% of its debt, especially with European countries." For his part, said economic expert Idris Ramadan said, "Iraq's delay in the payment of financial dues States on time, make the benefits of the debt increase significantly, thus increasing the loan amounts in his trust, making Iraq fails to fulfill its obligations, and calls on States to extinguish debt accumulated his trust. " واضاف رمضان ان "دول نادي باريس، وكذلك بريطانيا اطفأت ديونها عن العراق، ولكن بقاء ديون الدول العربية تتعلق بالجانب السياسي، فهم يسعون من خلال تلك القروض الى استمرار ممارسة الضغط على العراق، لأن تلك الدول ترى انها لو اسقطت الديون عن العراق، فانه سيكون قوياً وسيكون مصدر خطر عليها".بحسب قوله. Ramadan said that "the Paris Club countries, as well as Britain turned off its debts from Iraq, but the survival of the debt of the Arabic on the political side, they seek through those loans to keep the pressure on Iraq, because those countries see it as if shot down debt for Iraq, it would be strong and be a source of danger to her. 34. First let me say the jury is still out regarding this scenario. However with McChrystal being brought back home under odd circmstances. I mean the man is articulate he would never make such a mistake and then there latest report from CIA of a posible terror attack on a port in New York the other day..well, I feel that this article shouild be posted. You can all draw your own conclusions. It is obvious that there is something that we have not been told about the BP Spill if it was a spill.Decide for yourseves. Here is the article, which I have been holding back for weeks. Perhaps, people on the Gulf Coast know even more then we think. Was the Gulf Oil Rig Explosion a Deliberate Attack on America? May 1 st, 2010 ~ by Gina Miller "I am fully prepared to be called a “crazy conspiracy theorist” here for even asking some of these questions, but I would like to know who or what caused the explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig platform in the Gulf of Mexico last week. We live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and are in the direct path of the oil spill flowing toward us from the blown-up rig about fifty miles off the coast of Louisiana. What caused the explosion? And, why would the explosion on the surface of the platform create the situation in which crews are unable to stop the oil flow from the well’s head, which is nearly a mile deep? I realize the rig sunk after burning in a terrible and tremendous way, so I guess it’s possible that the sinking platform could have somehow irreparably damaged the pipeline at the floor of the Gulf, but it seems unlikely to me, with all the safety features on these rigs and wells. One worker on the rig at the time of the explosion reported that the lights on the platform went out right before the explosion. She was one of the 115 people who escaped the burning rig. Eleven others were not so fortunate; they remain missing and are presumed dead. Fire boat response crews battle the blazing remnants of the offshore oil rig Deepwater Horizon. A Coast Guard MH-65C dolphin rescue helicopter and crew document the fire while searching for survivors. Multiple Coast Guard helicopters, planes and cutters responded to rescue the Deepwater Horizon's 126 person crew. (Source: U.S. Coast Guard) Rush Limbaugh pointed out that the explosion occurred on April 21st, the day before “Earth Day” (the explosion happened about 10:00 pm on April 20th). He also reminded us that Al Gore had previously encouraged environmental nutjobs to engage in civil disobedience against the construction of coal plants that don’t have carbon capture technology. “Eco-terrorists” exist and have done millions of dollars worth of criminal damage. Fire is one of the main tools of their evil trade. I’m not claiming the Deep Horizon was bombed by eco-terrorists, although I don’t believe it’s out of the realm of possibility. But, it would take some serious money and ability to pull off an attack like that, so I would tend to think much bigger than college hippie eco-wackos with some money-backing–a foreign government, perhaps. Of course, before I could finish writing my thoughts here, I just heard Michael Savage posing the same questions. He also said there is a theory on a Russian website that claims North Korea is behind this. The article claims that North Korea torpedoed the Deepwater Horizon, which was apparently built and financed by South Korea. Torpedoes would make sense for the results we see. The platform exploded, despite redundant safety features; plus, something apparently also happened on the Gulf floor at the opening of the well to prevent engineers from being able to stop the flow of oil from it. Two torpedoes launched from a submarine could cause those things to happen. There are a number of international “suspects” who might want to do something like this. They range from Muslim terrorists to the Red Chinese, Venezuela and beyond. Remember that China and Russia are drilling out there, as well, and they would benefit from America cutting back on our own drilling. As soon as this happened, my gut told me it was no accident. This kind of thing rarely happens, and the timing was just too “coincidental” for various reasons. I don’t know what the truth is behind this terrible event, but I’m certain it’s more than we’re being told. We may never know the truth. If it really is an act of aggression by a foreign government, I seriously doubt we will be allowed to know it. Heck, the Obama administration is still covering up the details behind the act of war committed against our country at Fort Hood by a Muslim operative who had infiltrated our Military. No, we may never get to the bottom of this deep oil well of secrecy. But, I would ask that you please keep in your prayers the families of the offshore workers killed and those injured, along with the many people here on the Gulf Coast whose livelihoods and businesses will be hurt by this oil spill, along with the poor birds and marine life that are in the path of it." Gina Miller, a native of Texas, is a radio disc jockey. She also works with her husband installing and repairing residential irrigation systems and doing landscaping on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

  35. He won't listen to us even if we do march in force to Washington... unless we mobilize the entire nation and close down Washington DC indefinitely. The time is coming when we will truly have to have the gut-courage to mobilize against the socialists who would utterly destroy America. I hope the vote in 2012 delays that mobilization! When I joined the Army back in 1981 I knew that I might possibly have to sacrifice my life for my country in saving it from an enemy somewhere in the world... I never imagined I might have to sacrifice my life to save my country from its own parasitical socialist government and constituencies. If Washington and Jefferson were alive today they'd rebel again! If Lincoln were alive today he'd join us in dissolving this unholy union and re-establishing the nation on the original principals that made the colonists rebel against King George and made America the greatest nation on earth.

  39. The pound has strengthened considerably since Tuesday, when the new government announced budget cuts (and tax increases) -- something our new forex specialist Abe Cofnas labeled “the June 22 bombshell event.” “The market severely punished the pound,” Abe says by way of background, “as Great Britain navigated through the great global recession. From a height of 2.00 to the dollar in July 2008, the pound fell to 1.349 in January '09. In August 2009, it had retraced almost precisely 50% of the way back, and then went sideways until the beginning of a new descent since January 2010. In May 2010, it was at 1.4230.” So last week, with a budget announcement days away, Abe prepared his readers for a move in the pound -- which is exactly what we’ve had. From the time he issued his alert through today, the pound has moved up around 2 cents, to $1.489. In the forex market, 2 cents is a big deal. What’s more, Abe says the pound “looks like it can go much further. The bullish sentiment wave is also being supported by a hint in the Bank of England's minutes that an interest rate increase is now on the horizon.” We’ll be relaunching our forex service as the summer goes on in response to readers looking for plays with more flexibility. Watch this space for an announcement when it’s open to new members. Euro weakness is gold strength. Gold has moved up $10 to $1248 as we write. The dollar index is not benefiting… In fact it’s in danger of breaching 85.5. So what’s the problem with the euro today? Well, the Financial Times reports that banks in four of the PIIGS, or GIIPS, take your pick, countries are turning increasingly to the European Central Bank to stay afloat. Banks in Greece, Portugal, Spain and Ireland account for more than two-thirds of ECB lending to eurozone banks over the last two years. Also hurting the euro: Credit default swaps on Greek government debt have reached an all-time high. Greece is now only a marginally better risk than Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela. Here’s an update to a chart which shows what the CDS market is saying about who looks shaky… and to what degree. Global states with the highest cumulative probability of default (CPD) according to outstanding credit default swaps. As of May 11: As of Today: Venezuela 50.79% Venezuela 57.16% Argentina 44.83 Greece 56.71 Pakistan 36.51 Argentina 48.07 Greece 34.01 Pakistan 38.89 Ukraine 31.77 Ukraine 35.67 Dubai 25.56 Dubai 28.79 Latvia Rof 20.44 IRAQ 28.72 Calif/St of 20.07 Portugal 24.71 Lebanon 19.56 Illin/St of 24.46 Sicily/Reg 19.45 Calif/St of 24.30 Source: CMA Data Vision Look at that… In a little over six weeks, Greece has gone from a 3-to-1 shot at default to better than even money. Note also the growing overall risk. The No. 10-ranked risk last month had less than a 20% chance of default. Now it’s over 24%. Elsewhere on that list, we see that even though California’s risk has grown, Illinois has vaulted past California. Meanwhile, U.S. households are piling into municipal bonds. The household sector accounts for 80% of all flows into munis over the last three quarters, according to the Federal Reserve’s flow of funds report. Of the $2.8 trillion in municipal debt currently outstanding, households hold $1 trillion. And that doesn’t count what they hold indirectly through banks, insurance companies, mutual funds and so on. We can just imagine what the average broker is telling his clients right now: “If you think stocks are too risky right now, munis are the perfect way to earn a respectable return. And munis are always a place to turn at a time like this when income tax rates are likely to rise.” Yikes. As we point out in the current issue of Apogee Advisory, municipal debt holds the same laundry list of risks that subprime mortgages did in 2006. We also suggest an intriguing speculation that could deliver a mighty nice gain when it all goes boom. We’re still accepting “beta testers” to give us feedback before we formally launch the newsletter. If you’re interested, here’s where to sign up. The oh-so-cautious spinmeisters at the Fed are starting to sound a little more gloomy about the “recovery.” “Financial conditions have become less supportive of economic growth on balance,” says yesterday’s statement from the Federal Open Market Committee, “largely reflecting developments abroad.” (Um, that would mean Europe.) As such, the Fed is once again leaving the fed funds rate unchanged. The statement didn’t fail to deliver those now-familiar words: “Economic conditions… are likely to warrant exceptionally low levels of the federal funds rate for an extended period.” Say it loud, say it proud. All this general trepidation drove down the major U.S. stock indexes about 0.7% on the open today. Yesterday was a roller-coaster kind of day; despite the Fed statement, and the rotten new home sales numbers we reported, markets traded flat by day’s end. Orders for durable goods -- stuff meant to last three years or longer -- fell 1.1% from April to May. Not a huge surprise, and most of that drop was driven by a fall in orders for commercial aircraft. Take out transportation and the number rose 0.9%. Not bad, not good either. Here’s something that’s not helping the cause of durable goods: Uncle Sam’s 2010 version of “cash for clunkers” is going over with a clank. The Department of Energy is offering $300 million worth of rebates to consumers who buy energy-efficient appliances. But as of this week, only $108 million has been doled out. Some of that is because the states were put in charge of administering the program, so the rules and dollar amounts vary depending on where you live. Why Washington chose to devolve power to the state level in this instance is one of those great mysteries of life. A few postscripts to the three-strikes-and-you’re-out housing numbers we brought you yesterday: Applications for new mortgages have fallen to their lowest level since 1997. Even a 30-year fixed rate of 4.75% isn’t enough to bring people through the door, now that the homebuyer tax credit has expired An inspector general at Treasury has discovered nearly 1,300 prison inmates have claimed more than $9 million in homebuyer tax credits. 241 of those inmates are serving life sentences Fannie Mae is now proposing to crack down on strategic defaults. Homeowners who can keep up their payments on an underwater home but choose to walk away will now be denied a Fannie-backed mortgage loan for seven years. According to Morgan Stanley, 12% of defaults in February were of the strategic variety. Somehow, we doubt that a homeowner prepared to take the step of a strategic default will be dissuaded by the prospect of being a renter for the next seven years. But in addition, Fannie is promising to join up with lenders on mortgages in “recourse states” to recoup the full value of the mortgage. In other words, in states that allow it, Fannie will go after the borrower for the amount the home is underwater, in cash. For a quasi-government outfit that squeezed out maximum taxpayer-backed profit for its executives by pumping up the housing bubble, this is rich. “New home sales numbers are even worse than they seem,” a reader replies to yesterday’s issue. “I know well a senior VP of commercial real estate at a major bank in the San Francisco Bay Area who has had several conversations recently with his developer customers. Their thoughts on new home sales: "The one thing that analysts/economists fail to realize is that these new home sales for the most part are at a loss to the developers. At best these new home sales help them recapture some of their initial equity. Since March of 2008, our developers have sold 775 homes in the projects that we financed for them. None of them have made a profit on any of the sales. They keep building to liquidate the land debt and to recapture as much of their equity as they can. "I had dinner last night with XXXX. He owns one of the premier homebuilders in YYYY. He built between 100-200 homes per year. He has sold all his inventory and is just sitting on the remaining lots. Most of his lots are in the ZZZZ area. I asked him what his plans might be for future development of those lots. He said he wouldn't even think about it for at least another five years. “Most of these homebuilders are not building to make money, but to keep their staff working. If they make a 5% profit or lose 5%, they consider it a small price to pay for keeping their remaining team together. XXXX sees a double dip in for sale housing. He said the odds of that occurring are 100%." “I for the life of me cannot understand why people are looking for the high in gold in dollar terms,” writes a reader who takes exception to a casual remark we made yesterday about there being “a lot of room for the gold price in dollars to run up.” “That line of thinking is inconsistent with why the gold trade is so compelling. In Weimar Germany, those who tried picking tops in gold merely lost their position and ended up in the same boat as those who didn't buy gold in the first place. I think the answer is relative value. Gold relative to the Dow, farmland and barrels of oil and the silver-to-gold ratio, etc., are the only ways to value assets in a world of zero interest rates. “I think we can call this decade ‘The Decade of the Return to Intrinsic Value.’ What is the intrinsic value of a government promise? What is the intrinsic value of gold? What is the intrinsic value of a lifeboat in calm water? Stormy waters? When you are in the water?!?! It is relative. Holding fiat paper as a store of value in the current conditions is itself madness.” Dave Gonigam

  43. lol ARE you Serious???!!! You are saying everything everyone else has paid for was paid for by someone else.... Ummmm.... So does that mean that WE are paying for YOU??? Get over yourself.... Find another site to corrupt & disrespect... DO NOT come in here telling people that are HARD workers, working for their families that ONLY people like YOU are who are really paying for what WE have! I am only 31 years old but I have worked since before I was 10 years old!!!! Raised on a farm, helping my family sustain what WE had thanks to our AMERICAN Indian ancestors, while my parents held down daytime jobs (father is oilfield worker & mother secretary) so my brother & I could have the little things that, thanks to FREEDOM, we were allowed to have. Then in my high school years worked from the time I was legally able to pay for what I wanted. Got married out of high school, had 2 beautiful daughters, found out my husband was not faithful, divorced, went to nursing school (as a single mother with NO child support), graduated, & worked everyday since.... NOT having the luxury of a stay at home mother to spend the summers or holidays at home with my children. (No offense to any mother that stays home because that is a job in itself) All of this, yet still, I DO NOT FEEL ANYONE OWES ME ANYTHING & I WILL NOT ASK ANYONE FOR ANYTHING!!!!! So get off your high horse & your welcome for my taxes I pay with every paycheck, according to your way of thinking!!!! God bless America!!!! By the way, Thank You K98 for the post!!! I pray one day we will have the country back God & OUR forefathers intended for us to have!!

  46. I didn't post that list or make any comment about it, I've also stated that I was just passing information on, this is the rumors section that's why I posted it here as well, but I will reiterate that the person I got the information from has no reason to lie, he's one of my guys, who's only invested in the VND by the way, not even the Dinar. So no guru here from him or me, .......We've all been through this before, and I hope people aren't thinking that this is a definite coming from me, I do not predict rates and dates. just sayin........... My question was more for the people who get excited at the drop of a hat. A chance for them to say to themselves,, "Yes, it's a list. Nothing to get overly excited about.", BEFORE they get overly excited. Chief V, you rock. If it happens on the timeline you say, great. If not, well, please remember to keep your hands and feet in the car until the ride comes to a complete stop...

  47. Thank you for that post. It has brought back memories for me of my tour in Iraq. I was the Brigade Chaplains Assistant and dealt with the friends of soldiers we lost over there. When we came home we were called hero's but in my mind, I was just serving my countries needs at the time. It is always much more realistic when your there and see things first hand. The hero's were the soldiers we lost over there not the ones whom came home. GOD Bless us all and remember thoses who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

  48. Wrong my Communist friend... I went to PRIVATE school all my life... which my parents paid for and which I worked after school hours doing janitorial work to pay for! Try again, or just save us the trouble and move in with Chavez in Venezuela. We have no use for you or your type.
