With the current Russia-Ukraine war and multiple countries wanting to get off Russian oil, you would think they would be exporting oil to other countries as fast as possible to take advantage and not look at ways to reduced oil exports.

Good afternoon, Adam. I'm sure the situation with Iran and the potential to impact Iraq. What are your thoughts if things head further south between Iran and the other Gulf states and the U.S.? Thank you.

IMHO, This could pretty much develop into make-or-break time for Iraq. Either all the sects will decide they are stronger and better of working together or the country will break up into three small sections with the Kurds most likely coming out ahead of the game but surrounded by hostility from the other groups. If they stick together, our investment may yet yield something positive for us. If Iraq breaks up, I'd say we all lose. I'm pretty sure we'll find out over the next several weeks which way things will go.

Many thanks for this posting. It's nice to read a logical examination of the varied facets of this investment. While no one knows when the RV will take place, at least the banker's opinions are neither full of hyperbole on how massively wealthy we might become or full of negative, end-of-the-Dinar-world comments that fill some of the other threads. These are the kinds of comments and opinions that got me to join Dinarvets as opposed to other sites.

I'll be the first to admit, I'm no expert but since Maliki wants Apache helicopters and other weapons, it would hopefully make sense that they will pay for them with a higher value Dinar than the current exchange rate. Perhaps showing my ignorance but we that would seem to make sense to me..

I just saw the article about Kuwait adopting a new plastic-based currency, primarily saying that it will be more durable as the main reason and following other countries who are planning to do the same. In your opinion, do you think there may be more to it and will there be have any impact on any Iraqi RV plans? Thanks in advance.

I read your posts often and you do a great job of keeping us informed but unless I'm missing something in the translation, which is possible, I thought deleting the zeroes is not what we want because it's supposed to result in a neutral event, no gain and no loss. If I'm wrong, please let me know what I am missing in the article.

I guess only time will tell whether civilized behavior and the wealth that it can bring to the people of this country will win or if violence, fear and mayhem will drag it backwards. While we are all hoping to profit from our investments, it is good to be reminded that there are a lot of people who are being impacted day-by-day over there and are too often just trying to survive and live with a little dignity.

I'm glad you were able to post, as well. I'm a new member to this site but have been reading posts for quite a while on DV. The reason I joined is that this site tends to have more credible people posting than others. Although the members often don't agree with each other, they also don't tolerate a lot of the useless nonsense posted at the other sites.

I've been reading posts at this site for nearly 2 years and just recently joined. I can tell that your post makes a lot of sense because a lot of the criticism that I've seen to other people posts hasn't materialized. Obviously, the jury may not like everything they are hearing but they do like the way they are hearing it. I always guessed that it would initially come out 1:1 just for simplicity sake since the dollar is already used so much on the street in Iraq. It would help prevent the chaos of millions of Iraqi citizens trying to convert prices on thousands of goods and services since nearly everything is priced in both dollars and dinars from what I understand. Something that cost $1 would then cost 1 dinar. I'd like to hear your opinion on the chances of that happening. Also, so many posts tell us not to let the Dinar out of our sight once we take it to cash in, to only go to locations with DeLaRue machines. That doesn't sound likely under your description of the cash-in process so I'd like to hear your opinion on that, as well. Thank you in advance.

I've been involved in this investment for about 2 years. For what it's worth, I've always believed it would start out at $1.00 just because it would be less a shock to their citizens. Since I understand most everything in Iraq is priced by both dinar and dollars on the street, everything that cost $1 now would cost 1 dinar at the RV. There wouldn't be the chaos of trying to convert pricing on thousands of products and services. Like a lot of people here, I would love for it to be higher but I'll take $1 and run.

I can't claim to be the most knowledgeable person on the Dinar or the Middle East but I have to think the Iraqi people will not want to have a worthless currency where it would take a year's income just to buy a flat-screen TV or a set of tires. Sooner or later they are going to want a decent standard of living and that requires money that is good for something besides wallpaper.They know their country has resources that the rest of the world is going to be willing to pay them for and they are going to want their piece of the pie. Iraq won't be immune to their own "Arab Spring" so their leaders are going to eventually help give it to them and hopefully sooner rather than later.
