Hey here is a question for the DinarVet Diplomats. Yeah Iraq and its coalition government partners are working on major problems, causing concerns of a breakup of the country, which would be teriable for us. The question is: What would happen, or how bad would it be, if they broke into separate states/provinces yet remained united as a country? The current currancy could remain the same, its just that the GOI would be that much more like us with state rights and federal rights, taxes, etc.

THAT WILL BE A BIG MISTAKE. THEY ALREADY HAVE THEIR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE SECTS AND THAT IS PROBABLY WHAT YOU'LL HAVE DIVIDED, THEN WAR BETWEEN THE SECTS WILL ENSUE A NO WIN FOR ANY ONE. LET'S PRAY THAT THEY REMAIN AS A WHOLE, MY FRIEND OR WE WILL SURELY SEE THE END TO ANY PEACEFUL COMPRIMISE PAVED BY THE HEADS.

I hear you on that point. I do not want any added risk to our risky investment I am just curious. Kinda of food for thought. Did they not say such things about us in the beginning? Like breaking up along the lines of different versions of the Christian faith.

Do you mean a further separation than they already have now with two separate Parliaments and government structures, one for the Kurdish north and one for the rest of Iraq?

Shick you took the words right out of my mouth. They haven't even got unity in the current GOI. If they seperated into states they would surely fight and fight hard over boundries. Especilly those of oil concerns. This government will work and I think that they are starting to show that. Several party members have gotten tired of political manuevers and blocks and want to do what is right. When a democracy is formed there will always be cultural segregation and history proves Iraq will always have its cultural battles. This current government in imo is the only structure that has a chance to succeed.

I cringed at the thought of Iraq doing that. I like your open minds... that they could be their own states...such as our founders created for us. I can see your points and it has worked for the US thus far. I can actually see that helping them to come together as one. Not something to be so afraid of now that you put it this way. I think that would be difficult considering the different sects, factions and/or clerics wanting to be boss hog, and all having trouble agreeing on the time of day...without national unity with a centralized government they would probably all want different currencies, different militarys, different borders...don't see that ever happening...they have too many problems that separate states would never be able to handle from an economic standpoint...JMHO

Iraq is slightly smaller than the state of Texas. Texas cannot succeed from the union but can divide into 4 additional states....Rick Perry

Yup Posted Image You have a point!

If you look at the US we are not doing so hot. An awfull lot of "hating" going on...
Look at this country/site? Are We United??? Posted Image

I think we have been trying to be their teachers, go figure... I hope that we will unite for our country and that they will unite for their country.
.
Why is it that we feel more entitled than they are to show good judgement?

Love You Tandy Posted Image

Ola Amigos:

No I was just thinking about a centralized federal type GOI similar to ours in the USA. We have 50 states they would have 3 states that would make up 21st century country of Iraq with say the state of Kurdis, Iraq , in the north ' the state of Bagdad, Iraq in the center, and the state of Bazra, Iraq in the south. Or three states of any other name. Each with a state government, governor and associated legislature; again under a centralized government with a Senate/Congress or Parliament President/Prime MInister. This may allow the different sides to coaless along the lines they have already drawn and also unite across their ideological lines to make their lives better. They have had a taste of a better life and I think they like it. They will tweek the recipe to make it theirs. Of course no state would be able to have their own militias ie. only the central GOI would be able to have troops. Would this be any worse than the model they have been working on for the last 10 years or so? Would it solve each sides desire to get a piece of the pie, and chill. Just a food for thought question here. Remember I have no desire to make our risky investment any more risky than it already is.
