BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Following is a summary of news reports posted until 04:00 p.m. Baghdad local time Thursday – July 29:

*Politics:

BAGHDAD - Iraqi President Jalal Talabani on Thursday sent a congratulatory cable to King Mohamed VI of Morocco on the occasion of his country’s national day, according to a presidential statement.

*Security:

ANBAR - Sheikh Ihsan Abdulatief al-Douri has died of wounds he sustained in a bomb explosion on Wednesday, a medical source said on Thursday.

ANBAR - Four persons were wounded on Thursday in a bomb explosion in eastern Falluja, a security source said.

SALAH AL-DIN - At least three soldiers were killed and 11 others were wounded on Thursday in a suicide attack in al-Shurqat district, north of Tikrit, according to a security source.

ANBAR - One soldier was killed and five more were wounded by a roadside bomb blast in northern Falluja on Thursday, according to a security source.

BAGHDAD - A police officer and a Sahwa leader were killed by gunmen in southern Baghdad on Thursday, an official source said.

NINEWA - One policeman was killed and two others were wounded in a sticky bomb blast in the south of Mosul, a police source said on Thursday.

DIALA - Two leaders of what is called the Islamic State of Iraq were arrested on Thursday in Salah al-Din, an intelligence source said.

*Economy:

BASRA - A delegation representing Indian companies is visiting Basra to learn about the investment opportunities in the province, a media source said.

*Variety:

BASRA - A delegation from a Saudi investment company has arrived in Basra to discuss implementing electricity projects in the province, according to a media source.
