An Iranian oil field

 Reports

Economy News Baghdad

The second phase of US sanctions will begin on November 4. The first phase of the sanctions included an American warning to international companies investing in local industries. The second and most important economic stage of Iran and the international economy is aimed at the importing companies, the Iranian oil or the investor in the development of the oil industry.

After the unilateral decision of the United States to withdraw from the nuclear agreement signed by Iran with the five permanent members of the Security Council and Germany, the positions of the signatories differed, and positions opposed the withdrawal of Washington. After international objections to President Trump's policy, including non-diplomatic "tweets", multiple reactions have been formed on how to deal with the White House approach.

Trump demanded that no deadline be set for monitoring Iran's nuclear program. The agreement included restrictions on Iran's ballistic missile development program, as well as an end to Iran's regional expansion and dominance and its terrorist activities. Iranian authorities have so far rejected US proposals to change the deal, but have not issued clear responses on what is required under the US position. The announcement of a new oil embargo on Iran coincided with the outbreak of internal protests and the deterioration of the value of the Iranian currency against the dollar, to record low levels, while decided to «Cosmo Oil» Japanese not to load Iranian oil from October next.

Iran's economic situation worsened during the summer, with demonstrators boasting that Tehran was spending millions of dollars to support its supporters in some Arab countries rather than developing Iran. The news agency "Fares" news on the 3rd of the day that the Director General of the markets of Tehran Abdul Hussein Rahimi decided to regulate the sale of meat in the capital because of the «scarcity of goods», while the price of meat doubled within a year.

And began to grow and expand a global movement calling for the abolition of the use of the dollar in some international business transactions. On the other hand, statements from the new right-wing groups and American Christian fundamentalists called for not only the oil embargo but also the policy of removing the Iranian political system and replacing it with a new regime. Even before the start of the oil embargo, various positions emerged and public differences began to emerge in Tehran. Hardliners in the council withdrew confidence from the Minister of Economic and Financial Affairs Masoud Karbasian and held him responsible for not deterring the economic collapse.

What is most surprising in the series of contradictory reactions over the past months is the stability of world oil prices within a very narrow range of between $ 70 and $ 75 per barrel of Brent oil. Despite statements by Iranian officials and Revolutionary Guards commanders that they are prepared to cut off shipping across the Strait of Hormuz, it is clear that markets that monitor the geopolitical repercussions of these conflicts are moving into daily speculations in such an atmosphere, raising prices to very high levels if they are able to cut off important oil supplies .

In recent decades, the United States has continued to impose economic sanctions and an oil embargo on "rogue" countries. These sanctions have increased to nearly 2 billion people, and the gross domestic product of the target countries is more than $ 15 trillion. Russia, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, Sudan, Libya, Zimbabwe, Myanmar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, North Korea, Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan and China are among the countries covered or still covered by US or UN sanctions.

The reasons for the sanctions varied between disagreements over purely political interests, their use as part of the political / military conflict with the countries concerned, and sanctions for human rights violations and crimes against humanity. As for dozens of people on the US black list, the reasons include drug trafficking, terrorism, money laundering and arms trade for "rogue" countries.

The increasing use of this population and the major countries, specifically China and Russia, has led some to adopt a new financial system for foreign trade not based on the dollar but on the local currency. The new financial system is still in its infancy and is being used only on a small scale, but there are attempts by the BRIX countries, which include Russia, China, India, Brazil and South Africa, to establish an international financial transaction system independent of the current SWIFT system.

The continued blockade of the regional and major countries to adopt new means of financial dealings in the field of oil. The best example of China's position on Iran's sanctions is that it has decided to establish a future market in Shanghai for the oil trade that uses the yuan instead of the dollar. Chinese companies will try to avoid US sanctions, and the market will initially deal with Iranian purchases and avoid other countries. But China's experience remains important if it expands in the future, especially as it is one of the largest importers and consumers of oil. There are many other examples of attempts to use barter (India and Turkey), in addition to the adoption of local currencies to import oil from Iran.

Iran exports 2.4 million barrels a day, while international sanctions imposed under former President Mohammad Ahmadinejad cut exports to 900,000 bpd. After decades of sanctions, Iran has had the experience of avoiding part of the blockade, but sanctions will no doubt be a blow to the country's economic system, as expressed by the demonstrations in the country, not just Tehran.

The most important question is what is Iran's response to the sanctions? Will it accept to negotiate and amend the nuclear agreement? Or will it resort to military means in its response to restricting freedom of navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, or igniting the various Arab fronts under its influence? And what will be the military reaction of Washington and its allies? In the light of these decisions and the nature of the responses, oil prices will take a new direction that will reflect military actions, rather than rhetoric.

US Navy vows to protect Red Sea and Arabian Gulf amid Iran threats

1307436-353864265.jpg?itok=14ZV9MjR

  • Vice Admiral Scott Stearney says US Navy will ensure the free flow of shipping in the Gulf and Red Sea
  • US Navy to hold a series of exercises in the region's waters this month

JEDDAH: The US Navy has vowed to ensure the free flow of shipping in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea after Iranian threats to disrupt the waterways.

Vice Admiral Scott Stearney, commander of the US 5th Fleet based in Bahrain, said Iran’s activities across the region are “promoting instability” that is “affecting the region significantly” through its backing of Yemen’s Houthi rebels, Bloomberg reported.

“The US and our partners stand ready to ensure the freedom of navigation and free flow of commerce wherever international law allows,” he said on Sunday.

The commander made the comments as he announced a series of exercises this month with regional and global allies as part of the US 5th Fleet Theater Counter Mine and Maritime Security Exercise. One of the exercises will take place in Djibouti, near the Bab Al-Mandeb Strait which marks the entrance to the Red Sea.  The waters in the Strait have been threatened by the Houthi militia in Yemen, which controls part of the Red Sea coast. The Iran-backed group have carried out several attacks targeting international shipping.

Iran has also threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz at the entrance to the Arabian Gulf if it is stopped from exporting its own oil.

The US is set to impose a second wave of sanctions in November that will target the Iranian energy sector, including the sale of crude to international customers.

The sanctions are being reimposed after  Donald Trump withdrew the US from the nuclear deal between Iran and international powers earlier this year.

The deal sought to curb Iran’s atomic program in exchange for an easing of the sanctions that had crippled the country’s economy.

Trump criticized the deal for doing little to stop Iran’s interventionist foreign policy in the Middle East and its ballistic missile program.

Supra, I believe Trump was hoping the sanctions would get the people to overthrow the government.  I also believe shooting missiles into Iraq may have gotten the Pentagon burning the midnight oil.  Like I said earlier I believe we are headed for a big show down this fall.

For the first time .. US F-35 in the Gulf

10-09-2018 01:37 PM

The Euphrates -

The US Navy's 5th Fleet Command announced on Sunday that the F-35 aircraft had reached its Gulf operations area for the first time as part of the US military presence in the region.

The announcement comes as both the United States and the United Kingdom are conducting their quarterly mine action training in the waters of the region "within the framework of maintaining their readiness, by integrating their capabilities to counter the potential threat of naval mines."

The Fifth Fleet, based in Bahrain, welcomed the arrival of the F-35B aircraft to the theater.

He stressed that "the use of the most advanced fighter in the world allows the US Central Command to carry out its tasks from the position of force, which achieves air and maritime excellence in order to ensure security on land and sea."

The multi-lateral exercise aims to ensure stability and maritime security in the area of responsibility of the US Central Command, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific across the western Indian Ocean and three key points.

The US move comes at a time when leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) armies are meeting in Kuwait ahead of a scheduled meeting on Wednesday with US, Egyptian and Jordanian military officials to boost cooperation and achieve more joint military integration.

The meeting will be held within the framework of the 15th session of the Gulf Higher Military Commission, which includes Gulf military leaders. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt have cut ties with Qatar on charges of supporting terrorism.

Zarif: The American administration's insolence is boundless
[Oan- follow - up]
Description Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif , "insolence" the US administration that it has no limits, saying it amounted to an end even threatening the judges of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the prosecution before the US courts. "The United States has threatened to impose a ban on the International Criminal Court and even to prosecute its judges in US courts," Zarif wrote in a personal comment on his Twitter page in response to US national security adviser John Bolton's threat to the judges of the International Criminal Court in The Hague to sue US courts. , Does not show anger [towards it]? It seems that the arrogance of this rebellious American regime knows no borders. "
He asked: When does the international community complain and force America to act as a normal country?
The United States threatened on Monday to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court if it insisted on continuing its efforts to try US citizens.
The court is considering the prosecution of a number of elements of the US military on charges of violations of the rights of detainees in Afghanistan.
"We will do everything to protect our citizens," US national security adviser John Bolton said.
The United States is one of dozens of countries that have not signed the 2002 Accession Convention.
The court will prosecute and punish those responsible for crimes against humanity, war crimes or ethnic cleansing in case of failure or the failure of local judicial systems to prosecute those responsible.
"We will not stand idly by if the international tribunal insists on its decision," Bolton said in Washington.
Bolton threatened that judges of the International Tribunal would be barred from entering the United States and would freeze their bank accounts in the United States.
"Moreover, we will try before the American judicial system, and we will do the same with any state, body or institution that cooperates in the trial of US citizens."
Bolton justified his country's decision that the International Tribunal's trial of US citizens was a violation of his country's sovereignty and a threat to its national security.
Bolton also criticized Palestinian moves to prompt the international tribunal to open an investigation into allegations of human rights abuses committed by Israeli soldiers in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, actions Israel has described as politicized.
In November 2017, the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatu Bensuda, called for a thorough investigation into allegations of war crimes in Afghanistan.
There were "reasonable grounds" to believe that such crimes had occurred.
The allegations include potential elements of the CIA, the Taliban and Afghan forces.
The International Criminal Court was established in accordance with the so-called Rome Statute of 2002, but the United States has not ratified it since President George W. Bush opposed the formation of this body. Bolton has served as the country's ambassador to the United Nations since 2005. He
ratified the Rome Statute 123 A state, including the United Kingdom, has left more than 70 countries outside the charter.
Former US President Barack Obama pledged to develop his country's cooperation with the International Criminal Court.
Some African countries have already called for a withdrawal from the International Court because of what it calls unfair treatment of Africans.

Report reveals the culprits spread chaos in Iraq and the Middle East

A report reveals the culprits spreading chaos in Iraq and the Middle East

 Twilight News

(Reuters) - The US court ordered Iran to pay compensation to American victims in the 1996 Khobar bombing, highlighting Tehran's armed armaments in the Middle East, where Tehran has dozens of militias and armed groups deployed in Arab countries to destabilize and stabilize Iranian influence, According to Sky News.

Iran has a major arm under the name of the Quds Force of the Revolutionary Guard, which is responsible for foreign terrorist operations, and has a key role in the establishment of foreign arms to Iran, which is composed of local militias in a number of countries in the region.

These militias are based on sectarian sectarianism as a focal point for all their movements in order to mobilize minorities to implement the Iranian project in the region.

The following are the most prominent Iranian arms in the Middle East:

The Lebanese Hezbollah

Iran founded Hezbollah in Lebanon in 1982, becoming its military agent in the Middle East. In addition to its control over the Lebanese decision to threaten weapons, it has been involved in terrorist acts in Lebanon and many countries.

The party was involved in the kidnapping of 96 foreigners in Lebanon in 1982, including 25 Americans, known as the hostage crisis, which lasted 10 years.

The bombing of the US embassy in Beirut was carried out in April 1983, killing 63 people at the embassy. In the same year, the party launched coordinated attacks on the US and French embassies in Kuwait along with an oil refinery and a residential neighborhood, killing five people.

Hezbollah is directly linked to the 1996 bombing of Saudi Arabia by establishing and supporting the so-called Hizballah-Hijaz, which blew up residential towers, killing 120 people, including 19 Americans.

In 1988, Hezbollah hijacked a civilian plane bound for Kuwait to demand the release of those accused of bombing infrastructure in Kuwait.

In addition, Hezbollah participated in training militias in other countries. It also played a major role in the Syrian war by deploying its fighters for the Syrian regime, while providing direct support to the Iranian Houthi militias in Yemen.

The Arab League, the United States, France, the Gulf Cooperation Council, Canada, Japan and the Netherlands have designated Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

The European Union, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Australia banned the military wing of Hezbollah.

 The Hegaz Party

The Hizballah-Hejaz terrorist group was established in Saudi Arabia through the Lebanese Hezbollah, and it expanded from 1987 to 1996.

One of the organization's most prominent operations was the 1996 bombing of the US Mission compound in Khobar, killing 120 people, including 19 Americans.

The Iraqi Hezbollah

The Iraqi Hezbollah formed after the fall of the Iraqi regime in 2003, and appeared in conjunction with several Iranian factions, including the brigades of the Abu Fadl al-Abbas Brigade, the Karbala Brigades, the carpet corps and the Zaid bin Ali Brigades, all united under the banner of the Iraqi Hezbollah in 2006.

He was involved in several crimes on Iraqi soil, where he was part of a sectarian war against other Iraqi factions, in order to establish Iranian influence.

League of the Righteous

Founded in 2006 with direct Iranian support, it has split from the Mehdi Army of the religious leader Moqtada al-Sadr, and has become one of the main components of the popular rally that was formed in 2014 to confront a hasty organization, but committed many sectarian crimes against Iraqis. It also participated with other Iranian arms in the Syrian war.

"Popular crowd" in Iraq

It was founded in 2014 from the Hezbollah Brigades, Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Badr Organization and Martyr al-Sadr's forces.

The crowd set up a declared goal: to protect Baghdad and the holy shrines from the Dahesh organization that controlled Mosul, Ramadi, Anbar and Falluja. But the crowd was involved in massacres against civilians in Sunni-majority cities, and quickly emerged with sectarian links. .

Iranian militias in Syria

Iran has more than 50 armed militias in Syria under many denominations with a sectarian dimension. In addition to the main arm Hezbollah, the Syrian war was joined by battalions under the banner of the popular Iraqi crowd, most notably the Abu Fadl al-Abbas brigade, the Imam Ali Brigades, the useless Hezbollah Brigades, the Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades and the Al-Abdal movement, The Fatimids "from Afghanistan and the" Zinbion "from Pakistan.

Iranian Houthi militia

The militia was established under the name Ansar Allah Group in 1992 and began armed military activity since 2004 to enter into six wars against the Yemeni army until 2010.

Iran has long used the Huthis as a powerful tool to carry out its project in Yemen, supplying them with weapons, so that they could exploit the fragile security situation in 2014 and carry out a coup against the legitimate elected authority to plunge the country into a cycle of violence.

At the request of the Yemeni government, the forces of the Saudi Arabia-led Coalition for the support of Legitimacy launched in April 2015 to defeat the insurgency, having exhausted political endeavors.

Saraya Al Mukhtar - Bahrain

Saraya al-Mukhtar was founded in Bahrain in late 2011, relying on guerrilla tactics, blasts and bombings against civilian targets and security forces.

Saraya Al-Ashtar - Bahrain

The organization was founded in March 2012 and is supported by Iran and Iraqi Shiite groups associated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

The organization is led by Ahmed Yousef Sarhan, known as Abu Montazer, and Jassim Ahmad Abdullah, also known as Zulfiqar, both Bahraini Harban, believed to be in Iran.

Many organizations, including the Popular Resistance Committees, and the Pioneers of Change, have emerged. These organizations have adopted all the terrorist operations carried out in Bahrain.

Newspaper: increased risk of chaos in Iraq between the influence of Iran and the United States

With the Shia split between the two countries' influence

NRT

The threat of chaos and the deterioration of the situation in Iraq and what will result in it, the newspaper "Eurasia Daily" reported Tuesday, amid the division of Shiites between Iranian and US influence in the country.

"The new parliament has begun to work while the new government, which has to rebuild Iraq after a three-year war with jihadists and maneuvering between its two main geopolitical allies: Iran and the United States, remains in place," the report said on Saturday.

"A few days before the first session of the parliament, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi dismissed Faleh al-Fayyad as a national security adviser and chairman of the Popular Struggle and the National Security Apparatus. The dismissal of al-Fayadh adds to the worsening relations in the Iraqi Shiite camp and the fact that Shiite militia leaders continue to play a role Is important in the life of the country and are increasingly involved in politics . "

"Many consider the popular rally to be the second successful foreign project for Tehran after the Lebanese Hezbollah. Tehran's influence in Iraq is expressed by what is said to be the secret forces of Iran (part of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards) And the west of Iraq missiles "earthquake" and "Fateh 110" and "Zulfqar", thanks to its range, which ranges from 200 to 700 kilometers, can reach Tel Aviv and Riyadh .

"Despite its harsh criticism of Washington, the Shiite militias fought against the jihadists side by side, not only with the Iraqi army, but often with US special forces, over three years of war against a pro-American organization, but now, After the jihadist insurgency in Iraq, a legitimate question arises: What will happen to the Shiite militia? "

"Much of that will depend on the new Iraqi government. Moqtada al-Sadr, who has the highest access to the right to form a government, called for a popular rally and declared his stand against Iranian influence, but after winning the election, "He said.

"There is a widespread view among Western diplomats that Hadi al-Amiri prefers to continue his friendship with Iran and the United States, but if the relationship intensifies sharply between them, he will stand with Tehran because, along with other Iraqi Shiites, That America's influence in the region will weaken, sooner or later . "

Iran to open consulate in Basra: services will not stop for the Iraqi people

-----------------------------------

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iran's ambassador to Iraq opened on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, the new building of the Islamic Republic's consulate in Basra, four days after angry protesters burnt the former headquarters of the consulate.

"My visit here today is to open the building of the new Iranian consulate, so that there will not be a day when the services of the Iranian consulate stop to the visual and Iraqi peoples," Iranian Ambassador Irg Masjedi said.

Masjedi's remarks came during a press conference, before raising the Iranian flag on the new headquarters of the consulate, located alongside the Shatt al-Arab in central Basra.

On Friday night, demonstrators burned the Iranian consulate in Basra amid a wave of social and health protests that killed 12 demonstrators.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it expressed "deep regret that the Iranian consulate in Basra was attacked by some of the demonstrators," saying it was "unacceptable and detrimental to Iraq's interests and relations with the countries of the world."

While none of the evacuees were injured before the attack, all the documents, documents and equipment at the consulate were burnt, a spokesman said.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasimi condemned what he called a "brutal attack," according to the Iranian news agency Fars.

"The Iraqi government is responsible for the protection of diplomatic places," he said, warning "attempts by the exposed and hidden hands to undermine the friendly relations between Iran and Iraq."

Iran is the second country after Turkey in terms of the volume of commercial exchanges with Iraq.

The volume of trade between the two countries during last year amounted to about 6.7 billion dollars, of which only 77 million dollars is the value of Baghdad's exports to Tehran, according to an official source in the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce.

Kurds in Erbil protest Iran's missile attack, execution of activists

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – A large group of protesters gathered on Monday in front of the UN headquarters in Erbil and called for international action against Iran’s missile attack on Iranian Kurdish (Rojhilati) parties inside the Kurdistan Region and the execution of political activists, both of which occurred on Saturday.

"Representing the four parts of Kurdistan, we have gathered here to protest the recent actions of the Islamic Republic," said Amjad Hussein Panahi, the brother of one of the three activists put to death, while speaking with Kurdistan 24.

"We call upon the international community, the European Union in particular, to object to Iran’s behavior," he said. "Unfortunately, business interests of countries like Holland and Germany in Iran keep them from commenting on the regime’s violations of human rights."

On Saturday morning, in a successive and coordinated manner, Iran launched seven missiles at the headquarters of parties in opposition to the Islamic Regime,

killing 15 and injuring 42, according to officials in Koya. The action came hours after the much-feared execution of the three political activists, for whom major human rights organizations called on the country to stop.

"Ramin, Zaniar, and Loghman were political activists," said Amjed, referring to his brother and the other two. "According to the Geneva Conventions, they should not have been executed."

In a letter signed, "The concerned people of Kurdistan and families of Iranian Kurdish political dissidents," those gathered appealed for help from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the European Parliament Subcommittee on Human Rights, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), UN human rights special rapporteurs Javaid Rehman, and Agnes Callamard, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch.

The letter ends, "We urge your prompt action to protect all Iranian dissident parties from further bombardment and confront further extremist acts or killing of unarmed women and children who have taken refuge in our residential camps."

Answering a question on his hopes for the future of Rojhilatis in Iran, Amjed stressed that "so long as the Islamic Regime remains, executions, and [missile] strikes will continue," adding that "the history of Iran is deeply intertwined with such transgressions."

Member of the Kurdistan Freedom Party's (PAK) leadership, Ardalan Khosrawi, also gave Kurdistan 24 a grim view of the future of Kurdish rights under the regime, saying, "Iran is an invader and must clear out of the Kurdish lands [Rojhilat]."

PAK is a group based in the Kurdistan Region and has mostly engaged in fights against the Islamic State (IS) in Iraq, and should not be confused with the similarly-named Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK).

"The Kurds must have the right of self-determination and the ability, in a referendum, to decide their future," he added.

Khosrawi also vowed, "we will continue to fight all the enemies of the Kurds, wherever they may be lurking."

US Vice President condemns Iran missile attack on Kurdistan in phone call with KRG PM

US Vice President condemns Iran missile attack on Kurdistan in phone call with KRG PM

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The United States Vice President, Mike Pence, condemned the recent Iranian missile attack on the Kurdistan Region in a phone call with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani.

Vice President Pence wrote in a tweet that he spoke with Prime Minister Barzani earlier on Monday and condemned Iran’s recent rocket attacks on the Kurdistan Region town of Koya.

Pence described the attack “as an effort [by Iran] to threaten and destabilize its closest neighbor.

In a separate tweet, Prime Minister Barzani said he “reiterated the KRG’s commitment in the fight against terror” in the phone call with the US Vice President.

Barzani also highlighted the Kurdistan Region’s efforts to help form an “inclusive and representative” government in Baghdad.

“I highly value the US support to the Kurdistan Region and work to further strengthen our ties,” the KRG PM wrote.

“I also reiterated that the Kurdistan Region will remain a safe haven for all religious and ethnic groups and the centuries-old coexistence, harmony and religious freedom in our Region will last for centuries to come.”

The White House published a readout of Pence’s phone call with Barzani, stating that the two leaders “reaffirmed the strategic partnership between the Kurds and the United States.”

“Prime Minister Barzani expressed gratitude for US support in the fight against [the Islamic State (IS)] and noted that more cooperation between the two countries was necessary to capitalize on shared successes against terrorism in Iraq,” the statement added.

It also said Vice President Pence congratulated the KRG Prime Minister “on several initiatives to promote religious freedom” in the Kurdistan Region, adding the two “agreed to work closely on helping Iraq’s persecuted religious communities return to their ancestral homes.”

Since taking office, the US Vice President has been determined to ensure persecuted religious communities receive the proper assistance.

In June, Pence instructed the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to speed assistance to decimated Iraqi religious communities — Christians and Yezidis — who were targeted by IS and to provide that aid directly, rather than through the United Nations.

Last October, speaking before the annual conference of the organization In Defense of Christians (IDC), Pence affirmed, “President Trump is committed to help persecuted peoples reclaim their lands, return to their homes, rebuild their lives, and replant the roots in their ancient place of birth.”

He complained that while the Obama administration had “devoted well over a billion dollars in humanitarian aid to the Middle East,” the “lion’s share” of that assistance had been routed through the UN, which “too often failed to help the most vulnerable communities, especially religious minorities.”
