It snowed on top of the appropriately-named Snowmass Mountain near Aspen on Aug. 23. NWS Pueblo ✔@NWSPueblo We'll, that didn't take long. It's September 1st and winter has returned to the summit of Pikes Peak. These images, captured around 11:15 pm, are courtesy of the Pikes Peak Cog Railway and the City of Colorado Springs. The temperature at the time of these images was 30°. #cowx 10:27 PM - Sep 1, 2018 138 65 people are talking about this Snowfall at the end of summer isn’t unusual for Colorado’s highest elevations, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, although the heavier snows that bring inches and even feet of accumulation to the mountain peaks probably won’t start until October.
