Alsumaria News / Baghdad
A demonstration of a number of citizens in Baghdad, on Monday, in front of Warka Bank in the capital to protest against the non-disbursement of funds deposited with him.

A reporter for Alsumaria News, said that a number of citizens demonstrated today in front of Warka Bank in the region of Arasat Hindi in central Baghdad, in protest against non-disbursement of funds deposited with the bank.

He added that the demonstrators raised banners that accused the bank of "stealing" their money, pointing out that they appealed to the government to intervene and speed up the disbursement of money deposited in this bank.

This demonstration is the second of its kind in less than ten days, where dozens of citizens demonstrated, on June 25 last, in front of the gate of the Central Bank of Iraqin Al-Rashid Street in central Baghdad, to claim their money deposited in Warka Bank.

What is going on here?

First they have "financial inclusion" week and convince the people to deposit their money into the bank and not keep it at home.

And now, the bank will not let them withdraw their own money when they want to?

Either the bankers are totally crazy in Iraq, or maybe they are trying to keep the 3 zero notes from returning to the streets until they are ready to distribute lower denoms.

Hoping for the latter...

This demonstration is a week old...it was back on June 25 2018 when the demonstration took place...then there was an article that came out following that week...telling the media to shut up til Abadi meets the traders today(Monday)

Great time for foreign banks to step in.

When a person open a bank account, they get a E-Card. they can use the card on ATM's to get cash and POS to buy stuff.

I think the bank don't want to give back to the costumer the BIG 000 notes, like 25,000 10,000 5,000 notes. The banks don't  have enough 1,000, 500 and 250 notes for all the costumers because the have a liquidity problem.

We should be close to see the real market value of the dinar and lower denominations notes.
