Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said on Sunday that President Donald Trump’s advisers should consider leaving the White House if Trump continues to publicly disparage the nation’s intelligence community and cast doubt on the evidence that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.

“The president either needs to rely on the people that he has chosen to advise him, or those advisers need to re-evaluate whether or not they can serve in this administration,” Gowdy said on Fox News Sunday, referring to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley. “But the disconnect cannot continue. The evidence is overwhelming and the president needs to say that and act like it.”

Trump said Monday at a press conference during his Helsinki summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he didn’t see why Russia would be involved with election interference. He walked back that statement a day later, saying he’d meant to say he didn’t see why Russia wouldn’t be involved.

But Gowdy said his issues with Trump’s performance went beyond that one line. Trump, in his press conference comments, also gave credence to Putin’s denials of Russian efforts to subvert U.S. politics and did not stand up the contrary findings of his administration’s top intelligence officials.

“The president missed, I think, a really good opportunity to distinguish the United States from any other country but especially from Russia,” Gowdy said.

Gowdy, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has previously backed the U.S. intelligence community’s findings on Russia and actions taken by the FBI in its investigations of the matter.

“There is no way you can listen to the evidence and not conclude, not that the Democrats were the victims, but the United States of America were the victims. We were the victims of what Russia did in 2016,” he said on Sunday.

“It ought to be a source of unity and rallying around the fact that we are never going to allow this to happen again and we’re going to punish those who try to do it,” Gowdy said. “And there was this equivocation [by Trump] during the press conference. I’m glad [Trump] corrected it. But when you’re the leader of the free world, every syllable matters, and you really shouldn’t be having to correct it when you’re the leader of the free world.”

Problem is that most Leftist and MSM want to tie Russian election interference with Trump-Russia Collusion and do not differentiate between the two. This is how they can explain why Hillarious lost, because the thought of Trump actually winning the election legitimately is too difficult for them to process. Without this alternative reality, life is not worth living.

How about trade......the status quo had the US getting screwed blue, and tattooed, in almost every trade agreement.....Re-write these agreements........just even them out.....why would anyone want to keep these agreements that aren't favorable to America.....when they can be changed.......Seems the current Admin is working on this......

 

The economy.......(of course.....Obama should get the credit).......in 8 years the quarterly growth never saw 3%.......(which is the just get by #).....not so any more..........then the unemployment #'s.......lowest across the board.......all ethnic races....in a very long time.....

On Monday, FBI Director James Comey confirmed for the first time publicly that the bureau is officially investigating hotly contentious allegations of Russian meddling in the U.S. election — but, even if proven true, such geopolitical escapades better characterize the routine behavior of accuser than of accused.

“The F.B.I., as part of our counterintelligence effort, is investigating the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 president election,” the director announced, adding the bureau would conduct a probe to discern whether Trump’s associates had contact with Russian officials.

Despite that the U.S. has hypocritically exerted influence over foreign elections in all corners of the globe — in fact, it has arrogantly done so a whopping 81 times between 1946 and 2000, alone — with just one-third of those operations undertaken overtly.

For months, mainstream media parroted murky accusations hurled by politicians — keen to point a finger of blame for the apparently stultifying victory of a former reality television host on someone — that The Russians had somehow surreptitiously undermined the election-centric foundation of American Democracy.

While that has yet to prove true, this new Red Scare constitutes a duplicitous attempt by the pot to call the kettle … an election meddler.

Researcher Dov Levin of Carnegie Mellon University’s Institute for Politics and Strategy — an expert on the topic at hand — discussed the lengthy but incomplete list of times the U.S. government has interfered in other nations’ elections with NPR’s Ari Shapiro.

Asked for examples where this tampering tangibly altered results, Levin stated,

One example of that was our intervention in Serbia, Yugoslavia in the 2000 election there. Slobodan Milosevic was running for re-election, and we didn’t want him to stay in power there due to his tendency, you know, to disrupt the Balkans and his human rights violations.

So we intervened in various ways for the opposition candidate, Vojislav Kostunica. And we gave funding to the opposition, and we gave them training and campaigning aide. And according to my estimate, that assistance was crucial in enabling the opposition to win.

Levin reiterated the more blatant methods with which the U.S. asserts dominance — through the overt coups or all-out regime changes branding the nation a notorious interventionist — are not among the list of the 80-plus attempts to manipulate the electoral outcome.

As for the issue of pot versus kettle, Levin explained that — although Russia and other powerful nations indisputably employ similar tactics — the United States has been quite prodigious in its effort.

Well, for my dataset, the United States is the most common user of this technique. Russia or the Soviet Union since 1945 has used it half as much. My estimate has been 36 cases between 1946 to 2000. We know also that the Chinese have used this technique and the Venezuelans when the late Hugo Chavez was still in power in Venezuela and other countries.

As sanctimoniously as U.S. politicians cry foul about The Russians, it would behoove the new McCarthyites to reflect on the nation’s sticky imperialist fingerprints around the globe — like that time in 1996, when the United States undertook an extensive, secret operation to ensure the presidency of Boris Yeltsin.

That is, of course, former President Boris Yeltsin — of the Russian Federation.

Michael Cohen 'says Trump knew about Russia meeting in advance'

Donald Trump’s longtime personal lawyer has claimed the US president knew in advance of a June 2016 meeting in which Russians were expected to offer “dirt” on election rival Hillarious Clinton, according to US media reports.

The assertion by Michael Cohen, reported by both CNN and NBC News, contradicts Trump’s insistence that he was unaware of the meeting at Trump Tower in New York, the subject of huge controversy once it came to light a year later.

Cohen is prepared to make a statement to Robert Mueller, who is investigating alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 presidential election, the networks said.

Trump’s son Don Jr, son-in-law Jared Kushner and campaign chairman Paul Manafort met at Trump Tower on 9 June 2016 with the Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, having been told she was offering sensitive information about Clinton from the Russian government.

Trump, his son, his lawyers and other officials have repeatedly claimed the future president did not know about the meeting until details of it were revealed in July last year.

The president told reporters onboard Air Force One at the time: “I only heard about it two or three days ago.”

On Thursday, CNN, citing an unnamed source, reported that Cohen says he was present when Don Jr told his father about the Russians’ offer to meet and that Trump approved it. NBC said it had independently verified the report.

Trump’s current lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, dismissed Cohen as lacking credibility. “It would have to be people in the room with the president that can corroborate Cohen, which there won’t be because it didn’t happen,” he told CNN. “And then it becomes a credibility contest between two or three witnesses who say one thing and Cohen who says another.”

He added of Cohen: “He’s been lying all week, he’s been lying for years” – a comment potentially damaging to Trump since Cohen was working for him during those years.

Once unswervingly loyal to Trump, Cohen has fallen out with the president in recent months. On Tuesday, CNN broadcast a taped conversation between him and Trump discussing how to hush up allegations that Trump had an affair with Playboy model Karen McDougal in 2006.

Cohen is under federal investigation in New York for his business dealings. The leaked tape fuelled speculation over whether he is considering a co-operation deal with prosecutors. Cohen does not have an audio recording to back his claim about the Trump Tower meeting, the reports said.

The June 2016 meeting was brokered by a British music promoter, Rob Goldstone, who contacted Trump Jr saying he had “official documents and information that would incriminate Hillarious and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father”.

He added: “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr Trump ... I can also send this info to your father.”

Trump Jr responded “I love it” when first offered this political “dirt” on Clinton, the Democratic presidential candidate, but he has since contended that no meaningful information was offered and the meeting focused mostly on the issue of adoptions of Russian children.

The Associated Press reported on Thursday that Veselnitskaya, the lawyer who met with Trump Jr, “worked more closely with senior Russian government officials than she previously let on”.

Mueller has indicted 31 individuals, including 12 Russian intelligence agents, for hacking computer networks of the Democrats. Trump has repeatedly denounced the investigation as a “rigged witch-hunt” and was widely criticised for appearing to side with Vladimir Putin over his own intelligence agencies at a joint press conference in Helsinki earlier this month.

Once unswervingly loyal to Trump, Cohen has fallen out with the president in recent months. On Tuesday, CNN broadcast a taped conversation between him and Trump discussing how to hush up allegations that Trump had an affair with Playboy model Karen McDougal in 2006.

Cohen is under federal investigation in New York for his business dealings. The leaked tape fuelled speculation over whether he is considering a co-operation deal with prosecutors. Cohen does not have an audio recording to back his claim about the Trump Tower meeting, the reports said.

The June 2016 meeting was brokered by a British music promoter, Rob Goldstone, who contacted Trump Jr saying he had “official documents and information that would incriminate Hillarious and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father”.

He added: “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support system" rel="">support for Mr Trump ... I can also send this info to your father.”

Trump Jr responded “I love it” when first offered this political “dirt” on Clinton, the Democratic presidential candidate, but he has since contended that no meaningful information was offered and the meeting focused mostly on the issue of adoptions of Russian children.

The Associated Press reported on Thursday that Veselnitskaya, the lawyer who met with Trump Jr, “worked more closely with senior Russian government officials than she previously let on”.

Mueller has indicted 31 individuals, including 12 Russian intelligence agents, for hacking computer networks of the Democrats. Trump has repeatedly denounced the investigation as a “rigged witch-hunt” and was widely criticised for appearing to side with Vladimir Putin over his own intelligence agencies at a joint press conference in Helsinki earlier this month.

Good morning Shabs ! First of all if someone is guilty, be they Dems or Republicans or FBI or DOJ...hang them from the highest tree ! The American public is smart enough to figure out what happened. There is no way in heaven or hell that you can say that this is not a Witch Hunt ! If you think Hillarious shouldn't be hanging from a tree you are brainwashed. We have all seen right through their BS. Our Government belongs to the American people and yet they prosecute us because they have the power. Good Morning to you as well, Tex.  For the most part I agree with your statement, except for the witch hunt and lynching parts.....prison is sufficient in my book.    I'm going to borrow your heaven and hell comment and amend it by saying, no person who has filed bankruptcy multiple times and still resides with the 1% percent lives his/her life above board.  Some might call it good business.....but for those who got the very short end of the stick in those bankruptcies, something nefarious was certainly inflicted on them.

 I agree with you on the business failures and the moral issues... Yet Trump was elected as the president of the United States... What is more concerning is the Department of Justice breaking the laws of the land to try to remove trump from office.... Not only breaking the laws but then trying to cover it up..... The actions of the DOJ bother me more then the shortcomings Trump has..... And he does have many......CL
