Iraq sets for the first time the speed of vehicles within cities ...

The Ministry of the Interior of Iraq on Sunday, for the first time in the country, the speed of vehicles within cities and on highways, in an effort to reduce the rates of traffic accidents, which has seen a recent escalation.

Previously, the speed of the vehicles was not previously defined.

Brigadier Ammar Waleed, Director of Information at the General Traffic Directorate of Anatolia, said: "The speed of the vehicles within the cities has been set at 60 km / h. The highest speed on the internal highways will be 100 km / h.

Waleed said that 'the highest speed on international highways was set at 120 km / h, and on foreign highways with two separate tracks will be the highest 100 km / h.

"Traffic patrols will monitor the implementation of new procedures and hold violators accountable, by booking their vehicles and imposing fines," Waleed said.

According to the joint statistics of the provincial councils in Iraq, more than 1600 citizens were killed in 2017, and about 7 thousand others were injured by traffic accidents, according to statistics, about 500 injuries ended permanently disabled, mostly south of the country.

While 170 Iraqis have been killed in road accidents since the beginning of the year.

Thanks Yota...Shouldn't the GOI be concerned with more pressing issues like the auctions virus an open economy...or maybe giving the dinar it's true worth... Hell why not doing something meaningful like...combine all three and give the newly formed private-sector some purchasing power of a sovereign currency....Then again, maybe these tickets want be as expensive...having to pay in toilet-paper....
