«A wide political controversy» on the recent parliament session

30/5/2018 12:00 am

BAGHDAD / Shaimaa Rashid, Omar Abdullatif and Muhannad Abdul Wahab
The parliament's chairmanship decided to resume the extraordinary session on Wednesday at 2 pm, the session that led, after three attempts "did not write the quorum of completion, to make decisions on the electoral process, and calls for "Cancel the results of the outside" and start counting and sorting by 10 percent.
These decisions were accompanied by divergent political and parliamentary positions, some of which supported the decision of the parliament, while others stood against those paragraphs, which they considered difficult. The meeting, which was held yesterday evening, included the vote on the start of the process of counting the hands of the elections by 10 percent and the abolition of elections abroad and displaced, preceded by a decision last Thursday by the Council of Ministers to ensure the formation of a committee of judicial institutions and security and oversight to study appeals and grant them the right to access all documents related to the elections .
Despite the registration of dozens of complaints about the voting process, the Independent Electoral Commission announced that it will study the parliamentary decision issued by the House of Representatives on the legislative elections that took place on the twelfth of this month.
In contrast, political blocs intend to appeal to the Federal Court «constitutionality of the last session of parliament», noting that its decisions «illegal» at a time when other blocs see it as a legal session «irrefutable». Despite the parliamentary decision, which was met with the "support and rejection" of different blocs, law experts believe that the cancellation of the results of the outside «is not the prerogatives of the parliament at all».
